  1. Thanks Steve - Log where? In the log of the cache it was found or in the log where you dropped it?
  2. Don't want o highjack the OP's thread, but what is the proper etiquette for a GeoCoin? My kids and I went Cache'ing Sunday and of the four finds, there were Geocoins in three... The kids got a real kick out of them as each was very colourful and intricate. But after we discussed at length we decided to leave each behind not knowing what the correct thing to do... BTW - I did review the Geocoin forum but never did see the do's and donts. Thanks!!! Paul
  3. Thanks for the link and heads-up allory. Worked fine on mine as well with no issues (except for the self-extractor/unzip would not work). Glad you fixed your problem Paul
  4. Do you have to have a card...? No, but you will not be able to save points of interest as they are written to the card. May be some other functionality lost as well. Dont have to download maps. Comes with a base map that most say is pretty bad. Frankly I found it to be fine for what I was doing tho I will at some point purchase a good topo map since I spend a lot of time in the NC mountatins.
  5. Wow, I wonder if the original poster is wishing she never asked... Real quick. I am new to geocaching and got interested as a way to find something fun for the whole family. Got a Vista HCx few weeks back and have now completed several caches. I love it. Simple to use (both 7 and 9 year old use it well), great signal, fast, nice colour screen and yesterday took me w/i 2 feet of a cache. It also has a very nice entry point at $214 and Amazon offered a 2gb card for $6 and a case for $10. The resale is also good on these if you wanted to upgrade later.
  6. Thanks for the reply SgtSue! I like the sound of Cruise the Campus.
  7. Want to show the kids the campus and thought a good cache or two would help. Anyone know of any?
  8. Thanks jmundinger, I will go find and download. The manual that comes with the unit is terrible at best.
  9. Worked great. THANKS! Yeah, they are. Played some more and I was unable to determine how to seperate the two lists. Worked. Thanks! Two out of three aint bad!
  10. The kids and I completed our first cache today and had a great time. But it was not without a few frustrations using the new Garmin Vista. Hoping the kind folks here can help... 1) We decided to go for a multi cache for our first time and found the first clue quickly. But I could not figure out how to enter the new coordinates into the GPS to take us to the second cache...? I dont EVEN want to tell you how I had to do it... 2) I dont like the fact that when I down load the geocaches to the GPS, they show up as Waypoints/in the waypoint list. The list is getting long and I would prefer they show only under geocaches, is there any way to seperate them? 3) I also dont like now that I have a good many waypoints listed, that when I go into view them the "alphabet" dialog box comes up to help take you down the list, can this be turned off? Thanks! Paul
