Apologies if this upsets anyone, but this stinks to high heaven to me. I'm afraid that after the amount of time that this 'mistake' was allowed to run, I cannot believe that it was never brought to Jeremy's attention before. Whatever the amount of money involved, it simply looks like a case of let 'em have untill they're used to it, then take it away and see how many pay up for it. This makes gc.com look bad.
  2. I've used multi tools for years after working as road crew for a couple of rock bands. I used to but cheap ones incase they were lost or knicked, but in the end I got fed up with them breaking. I've ended up with a Leatherman Wave and a Gerber 600 Scout needlenose and I love em both. They both have pros and cons, but for me the thing that makes the Gerber just stretch ahead is the saw blade attachment that takes a standard jigsaw blade. A stroke of pure genius can't understand why Leatherman never came up with the idea
  3. I have a a Cobra GPS100 gpsr, (Don't laugh, it's never locked up on me, it always gets to within at least 10 feet of a cache and it seems to have a build quality that pus others to shame, ) and an old HP Jornada 525 pda which I simply synchronise word documents with the cache pages on. I take a Sony Erricsson T610 mobile phone, (nice and small) for emergencies with a 3 D cell maglite, a maglite solitaire converted to run an ultrabrite white led on a 12v battery and an emergancy whistle. This all goes in a bumbag (fanny bag?) which works great for me as I like to travel light. Using cache pages copied to word documents and then synchronising may not be the most efficient way of doing things, but it uses what I have available which makes things relatively cheap as well. The only snag with the Cobra is not being able to down load coordinates, but as I tend to have to plan my caching, this hasn't been a real problem, although it can lead to a sore thumb every now and then The maglite solitaire is generally used for close up stuff or any where I may need to be a bit discreet at dusk / night. As well as this, I have a Leatherman Wave on my belt all the time and this is a set up which seems to work for me. All my kit is in one place, I can just grab it and go. Danegar

  7. Hi Folks, Plastic containers are good, especially the lock n lock ones, but even if they are freezer proof, unless they are either UV stabilised or TOTALLY shielded from the sun's ultraviolet rays, eventually they do become brittle and seals deform. Somewhere between 18 months and two years would be time to start thinking about replacement before the seals start to deform to much and let water in. The only UV stabilised boxes I've ever come across are for electronic equipment and about the size of a biggish micro. So that's your enemy folks, not so much the cold as Ultra Violet radiation. 10. Hi Folks, I know this is a bit OT, sorry but I'd really like to know more about the Wayland's Smithy cache. I've done a keyword search, but can't find anything. Any help appreciated. Ta in advance Danegar
  11. OK, thanks for the info guys, from what I've read, I'll get in touch with the local office and see what they say. Couls explain the lack of caches in the area I'm looking at. I'll keep everyone posted including/especially Eckington and Lactodorum. Danegar

  13. I really hope it'll be ok, cos I've been planning this hard after looking at the threads on cool cache containers, gonna take a bit of work to build the container, but if it works......*insert big evil grin and villanous sounding chuckle* Danegar P.S. Thanks for the info
  14. When I uploaded the pic of The Big Red Machine, I uploaded it to my profile and tagged to the cachemoble forum from there. Danegar
  15. Hi Folks, I've done a search, but was wondering if there's any more news on caching on FC land yet? I got a plan for a new cache, but all four sites I've earmarked are FC Danegar
  16. I have to agree with what seems to be the popular opinion here. I am religious (not christian though) and I'll talk about my religion untill I'm blue in the face to someone who WANTS to listen, but putting this stuff (and by thstuff I mean the tracts and pamphlets and stuff, ther are some really good christian cds out there) in an anonymous cache is not right. If I found any in my cache, and that includes any about my religion as well, I would take them out. Danegar
  17. Hi Folks, First of all apologies cos this has prob been covered before, but I can't find a thread for it. I'm trying to find the coords for Tolpuddle in Dorset so I can do a search for caches in the area. Tried all the keywords I can think of and nothing so far, so stuck with trying to get the coords, but with out going there I can't work out how. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance, Danegar (Edited for spelling and feeling sorry for myself) Getting there is difficult at the moment as I'm on crutches after looking for Avon Calling
  18. That is so cool!!!! Congrats and loads of luck from the U.K. guys. Danegar

  20. Hi folks, I've been trying to contact the owners of these tbs via gc.com email, but they keep getting bounced. I do still have them picking them up just before some frenetic activity at work. I had planned to drop them off this weekend, but I'm now on crutches after taking a tumble looking for another cache. (No serious damage, just lots of soft tissue damage) I will move them on asap. Danegar I've also just posted something similar as a note for the tbs, don't know why I didn't think of that before!!
