didn't say i was offended. i'm merely amazed of this first of a kind event.

f***, nothing to see, but VERY Cold ;-) Jörg this was posted on the international space station geocache page. i've been caching a looong time and have never run across any vulgar language... i see when i posted this, uck was replaced with ***. that tells me something. i didn't replace the stars, the system did.
  5. while i found vereen memorial gardens a memorable cache; i thought avian island #1 (gca19) was even better. if you try it, be sure to stop at the mailbox in the sand to read, rest, and add to it. vereen and avian are both "must does" in my book.
  6. that 'cause one hasn't taken the time to crawl 200 plus feet down a vertical cliff and back up and see the view for 100 miles or more at cumberland cliffhanger. nashville has a huge variety. if you want a grab 'n go, we got it. if you want more, we've got that too.
  7. and i havta thank larrygc and the hermit crabs for giving me a quick lesson on img. thanks! ~sis editor's note: i tried. i failed. i need to study.
  8. i cached for the longest time w/o a camera. now that i have one, i take pictures for days...if i find a bug, there's gonna be a picture. my classroom is learning about geocaching and travel bugs (they have two they'll soon release)...i bring tbs i've found to school. use their mission or anything about the bug, in a lesson. then...take a picture. what i don't know how to do (and wish i did) is download an image on these forums. i see the "img" button; but i don't understand what the url for the image means.

okay by me. i can wait. that's right, it's a picture of the city's welcome sign with yourself and the coordinates. thanks! sis

caen, france is a sister city to nashville, tennessee. want to do sisters cache with sis?
  11. middle tennessee geocaching club has a site with recommendations. in addition to mustard devil's suggestions, southpaw's caches will keep you smiling...cumberland cliffhanger is one of my favorites; but it's in the opryland/briley parkway area...which is more or less between nashville and gallatin. keep in mind old hickory lake may lie between you and an intended cache.

yeah, i see that. it all depends on how you play the game ... and after all, it is just a game.

thanks for all your musings. i've since noticed that cachers are logging another when they find this one. guess they were confused too...or determined to log a smilie.

thanks for trying to help me out here. what is a pid? oh no, wait. i'm supposed to search the forum first. you'd think the # on the actual benchmark would be of use here. i have lots to learn.

    Looking To Log

i typed that in the "pid". that didn't work. then i did the same same by typing that # into the zip code box. knew that was useless. i obviously don't know what i'm doing here.
  17. i found this benchmark at n35 &degree 44.844 w085&degree 28.042. it was very near cache gcg7m6. it has # g43 1934 on it. it's in zip code 38585 i think and i took pictures. i haven't been able to find it on this site. it's too obvious not to be listed. so what i'm doing wrong here? sis
  18. cumberland cliff hanger (gce53a). you'll come back smiling to say the least.
  19. upon returning from "the nashville arch", i found a policeman waiting at my car. i removed my disguise (part of my safety precaution), gave him my sweetest smile, and asked had he come to protect me? he shook his head and asked didn't i know better than to be in this area. i told him about the cache i had been too; but he still wasn't too happy. i thanked him for his protection and was on my way with a smilie for the scariest cache i've even done. and yes, i loved every minute of it!
  20. i've been having the same problem all day, too. can't access locationless caches at all. i'm assuming it'll get fixed soon.
  21. hi 'neko. i think you should not miss "cumberland cliffhanger" in nashville if you haven't already done it. if you are through here after may 25th (school's out) i can meet up with you. i liked "sub pots" in birmingham; but i've barely scratched the surface there. "avian island" cache on the nc/sc line is probably my all time favorite.
  22. this thread has profound, valuable, and thoughtful information in it. i have enjoyed learning from your comments. thanks all. sis
  23. i purchased a nikon coolpix 4100 after searching this site for recommendations. i am very happy with it. logged 3 virtuals just today. thanks to all who add their 2 cents worth. helped me alot! sis
  24. here's a little christmas prayer...that God will keep you in His care. merry christmas. stay safe. sis
