  1. We love being outdoors, gadgets and a challenge. It's perfect for us. Plus we have discovered so many cool places looking for caches. Just last weekend we hiked 3 miles through the mountains for a cache near a waterfall. It was absolutely beautiful, serene and unforgetable. We like the quick p&G's and urban caches too. There's a cache for every mood.
  2. Welcome Eddie! I know your going to enjoy caching with your son! I often think about how fun it would have been to do with our kids when they were little. What kid wouldn't want to go on a treasure hunt! Have fun!
  3. We are having problems too. Got a big day planned to tomorrow and we need our PQ to make it (easily) happen.
  4. Never done it on the clock but I quite often go at lunch. It REALLY gets me mad though when I start looking and run out of time..GEEZ!
  5. We've gone on our bikes before (rails to trails) and quite often we ride our motorcycles to find caches. LOVE it.
  6. I JUST ordered that exact one. I'm suppose to get it today and we'll be testing it out in the mountains of Arkansas this weekend. From the reviews it looked like most folks were happy with it.
  7. Another February birthday chiming in! I just got a Garmin Oregon 550 for my birthday. Happy belated birthday and enjoy your new GPS!!
  8. Ok...I'll join...I was pulling into a parking space at work. I looked up in a tree and got all excited because I thought I saw a cache. It was a spot light that was painted green.
  9. My husband and I got involved in geocaching almost a year ago. We plan our trips now together (we have an overnight trip this weekend) with geocaching in mind. It's pretty much an obsession with both of us. We walked 8 miles last weekend in the rain to find some caches. It's opened up a whole new world of discovery, adventure and fun for us.
  10. Lot's of 35mm film containers around here.
  11. I lost my nice perscription sun glasses looking for a cache in some cedars. (small, dense ones very close together). On top of that I never found the cache either. I didn't notice until I got out of the trees. I made a "guess" of my previous route into the trees and got lucky and found them.
  12. Welcome to the obsession!!! I highly recommend any of the Garmin Oregon units. I had an Etrex but it wasn't as user friendly as I wanted. Lot's of great GPS's out there though. We use a small backpack to carry all our "stuff". Hang around here and you'll find the answers to all your questions. Again...Welcome!
  13. I love collecting sig items especially personalized ones. We've got quite a collection. We leave personalized poker chips although we have been looking at getting some pathtags.
  14. We've found a condom (in the package) also. GROSS. We also found some hard candy. (geez)
  15. Ditto...Garmin Oregon. I LOVE the touch screen and it's so easy to load caches from whatever area you want to search (5000 of them if I wanted to!)
  16. I've been using a Zumo 450 for a few years now. I've got it hardwired to my battery. GREAT product. I do use a handheld when I get off my bike though.
  17. I'm having issues with my PQ's also. I ran 2 or 3 yesterday and 2 this morning and none of them have been generated. It figures...I just got a new GPS and wanted to do a little caching at lunch today...guess I'll put a few on manually...ugh...
  18. Congrats! We've only got one under our belt (we showed up minutes before someone else!) but it was great!
  19. Here's the link Poker Chip Customizer About $60 to make 300 chips. Refill kits are available too.
  20. Here you go. anyin...those are VERY cool! Nice job!
  21. We also use customized poker chips as our sig. item. We got a couple when we first started caching and I thought they were pretty cool. I love ANY sig item when we find them.
  22. This is AWESOME!! I saw it yesterday and have been playing around with it now for a couple of days. I LOVE it!! It's so much easier for me to visualize everything when I'm in Google Earth. Thank you SO much!
  23. My husband got pricked by a really pointy plant at a park (the cache was UNDER it!). His finger swelled up pretty good. Luckily it started going down after a couple of hours. I had a particularly nasty gash on my leg from going through some thorns (with jeans on!). Ugh!
  24. We rode our bikes on a rails to trails that was probably 50 miles long (we only did 15 miles RT). It started off paved and turned into some pretty serious offroad stuff. It was tough though since there were wooded areas close and lot's of skeeters, PI and thorns. It was getting hot too! It was fun though and we'd definitely do it again but in the cooler weather.
