It took a while, but now here we go: Out of the long list (with about 100 top geocoins that appeared up to the year 2007), the 29 most outstanding geocoins were chosen for the short list. You can find this list here: http://geocoins.info/nominees.html There you will also find a link where you can cast your vote for your favourite. Please note: You can chose one coin only and vote only once. Submit your vote by April 15, 2010 Five people participating this vote will win a geocoin prize (however not of those coins depicted on that nominee list). The winning coins (and prize winners) will be anounced in this forum at the end of April 2010. (Election of the best coins of the years 2008 and 2009 will be held later this year.)

In 2008, a bunch of geocoin collectors/lovers/makers/geeks etc. founded the Geocoin Academy (geocoins.info). This academy will hold a yearly competition for the best geocoin(s). As a first go, the Academy is now looking for the best pre-2008 coins, i.e. all coins ever released prior to the year 2008 (best 2008 coin competition is coming later this year). Until April 30, you can submit your preferred coin 2001 to 2007. Post name of the coin, release year and picture right in this thread (if you have more info about the coin: the better. just post it). Don't forget to post a picture of the concerning geocoin. Do submit only one coin, i.e. your absolute top coin (released prior to 2008). Later on, the best coins will be elected by public voting as well as by Academy judging.
