  1. I've been here for a year and a half. I've seen snakes, gators, and hogs, but only felt threatened once and that was a snake behind a wal-mart in a palm tree. Other than that, just use come common sense, like don't lift that limb with your bare hands, or don't stick your arm in the hole in a tree. Take pleanty of water and bug spray with you when you go and you should be fine. You can always do like TMCertified does and send the kids in when affraid. You can run faster carrying them - then they can run to get help for you....LOL....
  2. But are you a member of ISAG? Not only is he a member. I think he may be the president elect:)
  3. Wow, I didn't know Squishy was so popular. I never read forums... I guess I should start. This cache is mine. I went out there this weekend because of Toms log in November. I know-it took me long enough...... but, when I got there, stage one was there and ok. Stage 2 is there and also ok, Stage 3 coordinates were off about 20', but in fairness to me, it is a big red birdhouse. It measures about 16"x16" about 5 foot off the ground in a pine tree. Sure you may have to look a little bit for it, but it is still there exactly like I placed it about a year ago. It isn't even behind any foiliage, just hanging there on a tree. I'm not sure what this issue is with the "finders". I posted a warning to them two weeks ago that if their name wasn't on the log that it would be deleted, and they can email a description of what is in the final container if they actually did find it. I'm sure some of you will call this micro-management, but when it affects other honest cachers like Tom, then the situation needs to be resolved. I commend you Tom for doing the right thing. I don't read my logs as often as I should or this would not have happened. For that I am sorry. Sometimes work gets in the way of the important things in life:) Cache On!!!

  8. I have left a $10 gold coin from the Golden Nugget in a cache for a FTF prize. Not sure what it was worth, but at least $10. I also have some 1 oz. silver coins I leave if a cache is unusually challenging, or if evident that the hider went to a great deal of trouble placing it. Just yesterday, I was the FTF and inside the cache was an ipod nano. I didn't take it though. Also, In my seed cache I recently placed 5 wrapped christmas gifts for the next finders. They contain things like geocoins, and other swag I got from Oakcoins.
  9. The Iowa DNR Website while preparing for a Camping trip for the Cubscouts in Norwalk, Iowa. They had a link on their page pointing to an application for a permit to place a geocache. Curious as to what the heck that was I read the permit and went to the site. Tried to find a couple without a gps unsuccessfully, bought a colorado and the addiction began.
  10. Some of the best caches in the Orlando area are from Stray Goose and War1Man, they are pretty unique and challenging. If you go west look for Moparots caches unique and not as evil as the former two. Jarrod88 has some good ones in Ocoee and Apopka. There are several others, depending on what you are looking for.
