  1. This sucks! When is this going to be fixed?? Has there been any word from the Admin?? :-\
  2. When i find a cache i want to hunt, i plug in my gps60cs to the computer and click on the "send to gps" gps button. the popup window comes and says the .gpx file was written to the gps60cs. how can i get that .gpx file "out" of the 60cs so i can put it on my axim to view in gpsview (or similar) or into GSAK so that I can convert the file to html file? thanks
  3. So i've downloaded GSAK and easygps just to compare the two and have also been trying to use them with my dell axim. it doesn't seem to be working properly or going smoothly, and i'm thinking it's b/c i'm using the .loc files. I would appreciate it if someone could send me a .gpx file so i can see if i can get the whole process to work properly. if i can show my wife that i can get it to work and how cool paperless will be with my borrowed gps60cs, then i'll have more pull with forking over $30 hard earned bucks (and maybe gettnig our own gps). thanks, louie kablooieshy at yahoo dot com
  4. but does it provide driving directions out of the box? If i put in an address, will it tell me how to get there without having to buy additional maps?
  5. So one of my kids broke my 1 month old magellan roadmate 1470... :-\ I need to buy a new GPS and since my wife and I are into geocaching now, I'm thinking on maybe getting a handheld instead....... I was looking at Costco's website and they have colorado 300 for $249, which seems reasonable as compared to the Amazon price of $330 (plus Costco's wonderful lifetime warranry) Is the Colorado a bit too much for beginners? Does it provide driving directions out of the box? or do I have to buy a different map? I was reading a small bit about the Etrex, which is cheaper in price but doesnt seem to have nearly the same functions. What do you think? TIA, Louie
  6. I know there's a forum for TBs but since I am just getting started and had a question or two I thought I would ask here.... So I'm looking at cache GC1DZGZ and wanted to go look for it b/c it had travel bugs and what not. Although the cache inventory shows TBs and even GCs, the most recent post says there was only swag in the cache. What's up with that? Doesn't the inventory list update itself, as long the the person who took the TB inputs the info (take/drop) on the TB webpage? Lastly I have seen a lot of inaccurate inventory lists and really wanted to get a few TBs going for my wife and son to follow, but if people can't follow simple directions on how to log TBs, then it doesn't seem worth the frustration. UGH! TIA, Louie
  7. So the geocaching website says: Each Geocoin has its own page on geocaching.com where you can track its progress as it passes from person to person or cache to cache. How does/can each geocoin get its own website? Is the coin embossed with an ID #?
  8. river cacher: what's a "micro"? lol. I hate asking such noob questions. :-\ fairyhoney: thanks for the welcome! btw: what's the geocoin address book and how/what does it do?
  9. My wife and I are new to GCing and I have a question about geocoins (and TBs)... It's okay to remove one from a cache and not put anything it's place right? We don't have anything at this time to move around. I'm thinking about getting a TB and getting my 6 year old son involved in tracking a TB. He wants to see something go to Kansas for some reason...... ? TIA, Louie
  10. Not to hijack too terribly, but since we're talking about TB and newbies........... How many TB (or coins for that matter) can I remove from a single cache? And like last poster said, how long should it be held onto before dropping it in a different cache? Thanks for the help! Louie
  11. I just bought a Magellan RM 1470... Is geocaching possible with this unit? I am trying to figure out how I would do it. FWIW: I also have an old Dell Axm X5 with WiFi, would that be of any use to me too? I want to get more involved in GC and something new to do with my 6 year old. Thanks! Louie
