if its a newly hidden cache the maps take either a few days or a few finds. you can use the links to mapquest and other maps to see where the cache is placed without the gc map on the page. hope that helps. cheers and happy hunting

try using easygps or gask for manageing waypoints both are free. easygps is really basic while gsak has many features that you may like. remember waypoints are either lox or gpx file formats.

i know this has been talked about but i would like to bring it up here. would it be possible to bring canadian benchmarks to the gc website so we can search and log them like our friends south of the boarder.

Why Don't Some Active Caches Use The Forums?
Rogue_monkey replied to Milbank's topic in How do I...?
That's it I think. Forums aren't for everyone. One of the great things about this game is that everyone can pick the aspects of it that they enjoy - Micros, locationless, virtuals, benchmarks, long hikes vs. drive ups, forums, group events .... I like to lurk in the forums and post occasionally. Others like to just lurk or to post frequently or to stay out of the forums completely. On the other hand I never participate in group events, which I know that many others enjoy. i think that about covers it, different people have different tastes. bob likes micros bill doesn't, bill likes the forums and bob doesn't. i need not say more the quoted poster said it quit well. -
there is a forum all about benchmarks here in ground speak open that forum which is about three forums below this one in the main page and at the top there is a FAQ link that explains benchmarks. cheer and happy hunting

BQ I agree with your wife. spring hides do make for hard finds later in the the year. if there is one thing that is good about early spring hides (winter and late fall) is there is no tree cover to hinder your gpsr. yes you get all the other factors but you get better reception in the spring. so harder find yes. better co-ords yes.

sounds cool i'll have to give it a try

here in ontario i have only got wass once so i keep it off and to answer the last qestion i believe it does. your unit is always trying to lock on to those extra sats so it has to use more power to do. i could be worng but i think thats the case.

Can You Put A Cache On The Back Of A Street Sign?
Rogue_monkey replied to Milbank's topic in General geocaching topics
for the street sign idea search for a forum about cool cache containers. there's a thread in there with a guy that put one on a sign, it was a bolt he drilled out and attached the nut to the end, pretty easy to make if have the tools or acces to them. chech out that thread there's some good stuff in there -
it seems i have answered my own question by using this site http://www.geod.nrcan.gc.ca/index_e/produc...ine_data_e.html although it as well doesn't aways say what datrum to use.
-
i used this link to find benchmarks and see that there is a ton in my area. the only problem is i don't know what datrum to use. It says vertical datrum but how does that convert into a format for the Gpsr to use. any help would be good. and as you can see by my question i am interested in hunting Canadian benchmarks

I think the idea is great my spin would be to get people to take a pic of the tree they planted, the TB and their gps. (kinda like a locationless) they need all three of those in the pic plus the long/ lat to log it. after that they drop it off in a normal cache so the bug can travel and people all over the country can log there planting. sounds good to me. let un know how it goes

ok jester i see what your saying now, we where both refering to a good compass with the ability to change declination, but we differed in which north to use and now that i think about it more yes both ways will work. true to magnetic and magnetic to magnetic. right so yes your way will work and so will mine, i should have thought about your way a little more first. thanks for making me think, i like a challange every once and a while

LOL how true that is, congrats on your first fined.
