I put it into the cap with the screw thread. Never had a problem with the better ones. The cheaper ones are actually shorter so they are a little easier.

I have no problem rolling them up..just finding them. But really...I see a lot of them...since I live in the SF Bay Area.

Along the same lines, I will fix it up if it should be or if the CO is known to be out of the game and it is a worthy cache. I have taken old soaked logs home and left in the garage to dry out and have emailed the CO...but have never had one that wanted it back. Of course, I am newer to the game and not so bound by the historical ways. I will always add a log if the one there is full.

Beta maps and pocket querys

I like to use them to make a printout with the number legend. It is just that it is [well] smaller now. -
Beta maps and pocket querys
AlohaBra and MaksMom replied to kissguy&frannyfru's topic in General geocaching topics
Interesting. I'm getting personalization (finds show as smilies and hides as stars) on the old maps. Did they flip a switch again, or is this a Platinum Member benefit? It is kinda of working...but not completely. -

Forget about "TFTC" logs...
AlohaBra and MaksMom replied to SooMukwas's topic in General geocaching topics
I think it is the app with the smartphone and the newbie. I have cached with some at events..and they don't know any other way. They don't go on the forums so how are they going to know? In fact, my daughter and her fiance are like that. She doesn't even log them. He log them and does say somethng...but yep...they went to college. -
I like the old maps. I am color blind and the icons on the new "beta maps" are hard to see. But usually, I only care about the traditionals. Still...there are no numbers and a legend on the betas...so I cannot make a printable map...the popup thingys [ballons] do not lend itself to a print format....

Geocaching.com Google Map
AlohaBra and MaksMom replied to k.f.boom's topic in General geocaching topics
Yep..it is screwed up...I need the "personalization" to work..with the old maps... That is bc I print up an area map with numbers..and a legend to drive to those locations.... The new maps don't allow a legend to be displayed and to be "snipped" for printing...some legend or a display of the GC #s is necessary to reference the icons on the new map [yes...I need to print the map...cause sometimes the android has poor reception..] thanx..ab -

Cache Hunt planning and prep

No paper for me except for a map [maybe]. A paper map does help, but the map on the pn-40 or Garmin Vista will work in pinch. Now have an Android as well..I guess I must be hooked [].. -
Please use a totally waterproof container!

Best GPS for going paperless?
AlohaBra and MaksMom replied to Darren V's topic in GPS technology and devices
TIP Don't overlook the car GPSr [i use a Nuvi]...I use that to get there and then use a Garmin vista HCx and a PN-40 to get the cache. The paperless is on the Nuvi and the PN-40. All of this is loaded from a PQ using GSAK... -
Enough has been said...picture of a log sheet is [well] boring. Pictures of the area of interest is what caching is about. aloha

Micro container
AlohaBra and MaksMom replied to adrians.galaxy.crew's topic in General geocaching topics
My husband found one of those 'blinkers' - Good God - I don't know how the owner got that log rolled up inside that thing. To be completely honest, we didn't remove the log for fear of not being able to roll it back up tight enough to get it back in!! One of these days, I'm going to go back there to take a picture of it!! Definately worth a picture. We just couldn't do it that day - too many muggles. LOL--I'll bet there are a bunch in the "big city' nearby...maybe in Philly??? -

Since you mentioned Walmart... these cases by Outdoor Products are totally waterproof. Cost is 6-8 dollars depending on size. Tried to post a picture but this text only reply won't allow it. -

Finding and unlisted cache
AlohaBra and MaksMom replied to cacheuponomus's topic in General geocaching topics
I agree with this assessment. It could very well be listed on another site and purposely not listed with GC.com. It could also have been cross-listed to GC.com and has not yet been approved or was denied but it is active on another site. Simply removing it without knowing is a bad idea. ditto...don't remove it... -
