  1. Hello, I took off some time from caching while I moved to Florida, and the birth of my son. Now I am back in it and ready to go the distance. Looking for other cachers in the area who may want to link up and cache. Let me know. Team Geo-Joes
  2. Are your bugs bored, want a little excitement. On May 11th I am going to Los Angeles for 6 days to visit family. While I am there I will be dropping off one my own bugs at some local caches. Then the idea hit me, maybe my bug would like a little company. I Live in Ocala Florida and work for the city. I also live within city limits. If you are interested, shoot me an email and let me know of a time we can meet up. I am leaving early of the morning on the 11th so the exchange has to be before that day. I look forward to meeting other cachers here in florida.

  5. Me and my wife are a living here at Ft. Irwin. I have been caching now for about 2 months. I found out about it by accident, and I am hooked. We try to get out as much as time allows and go caching. My question for all of you is are there any other cachers around, maybe you could introduce yourself. I am no longer active duty and can get out and cache more than my wife. If you are in the same boat and maybe need a partner, let me know...Always welcoming emails from anyone interested in caching......
  6. This is a hop skip and a jump compared to the international ones, but as of yet, my farthest is 204.1 miles. Ft. Irwin to Solvang, SoCal.... Wish I was caching when I was stationed in Korea. 6000 miles....
  7. Me and my wife both use our good old fashioned U.S. Army Basic Training boots. Have not gone wrong with them yet, and yes my kids will be made fun of because their mother DOES wear combat boots.....
  8. Its funny that you mention this, because this was one of the ways I was able to get my wife out there on our first few caches. The idea of scrap-booking was exciting for her and she has started one. Now she is asking me when can we go on our next one, I need more pictures. We even got a new digital camera for just that reason....
  9. LOLOLOL. Could not think of anything better if I tried.. Thankyou, Made my day...
  10. Hey everybody, I cannot believe how out of hand this has become. Who cares what words we use to describe people who do not cache. I do however believe that this is not a sport for just anyone. You must have a sense of adventure, a willingness to turn off the TV and go outside, the desire to stay healty and teach our children that there is a world out there beyond the TV. Geocaching has become to me a way of life. When I am not working I am caching, and when I am not caching I working. So I think all of us here, who have learned how to cache, brushed up on ther land nav skills, put other and more important purchases aside(Like food and rent) just to purchase that new GPS that has 5000mb of memory and can jump start your car in the winter, have EARNED the right to call people who decide that cachers or caching is stupid, or boring or just plain choose not to do it *Muggles*. please don't flame me, just my opinion. P.S. My 60cs is coming soon, can't wait.... Oh ya, check out this sight...Muggle Humor
  11. Agreed!!!! About to buy by 60cs on friday. Would sell my car if I had to so I could get it... (Still got the wifes jeep 4X4) Sorry honey. LOL......
  12. WHAT CAN YOU NOT USE IT FOR. Me and my wife are both US ARMY. We were both issued them. Could not imagine what I would do with out it. Case in point. Found a cache that was in a paint can. Well I don't know about you but I do not carry a paint can opener and this can was not opening. Grabbed the gerber, opened the can. *Logged* TNLNSL...

  14. Not a bad idea. Or if worse comes to worse, like you said, make it member only. I would start leaving a few caches with personalized notes to this joker, like "Nope you not getiing anything out this one. Then let him or her find another with a note that says" Not this one either. YOU HAVE BEEN HAD" Let him find a few of those and hopefully he'll move on.... Just an idea..
  15. I have a V and it does not do voice, just curious. Anyways, a PDA cannot and will not replace your average or above average gps unit. Here is a really good reason in my opinion quoted from the garmin websight: "Most Garmin GPS units(ie; Gps V etc etc..) are waterproof in accordance with IEC 529 IPX7. IEC 529 is a European system of test specification standards for classifying the degrees of protection provided by the enclosures of electrical equipment. An IPX7 designation means the GPS case can withstand accidental immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes."
  16. I appreciate everybody's replys so far please keep them coming. Forgot to add when I first posted that I have a Gps V now, so this will be an upgrade but not a needed one. Love my V but going to give that one to the wife and go to the 60c or cs. Thx Team Geo Joes
  17. Absolutley. It all depends on the money you want to spend. They range from anywhere, and don't quote me, for 99$ U.S. all the way up to 2 or three thousand dollars. As far as grids, no worries, I have a garmin GPS V and it has more than 100 datums and you can use Lat/Lon, UTM/UPS, Maidenhead, MGRS, Loran TDs and many other including your own custom... If you have any other questions pm me and I will gladly answer what you need to know.. Good luck and happy hunting...
  18. I agree, Our objective as cachers is to remain basically out of sight, to find what we came there for and to leave, sight unseen. So with that said, it is also our job to make sure we respect all signs posted and move to another area where we can go "off the trail..." Really liked the multi-cache idea....
  19. Hey everyone. Actually I am in the posts alot but rarley reply. Going to change that. Me and my wife are both new to caching, but absolutley love it. We are both military, so geocaching puts right at home (Land Navigation and such). Just wanted to say hi and thanks for having us. Happy Hunting, Team Geo Joes
