  1. Yoy call her a dish washer and see what happens ? Yes DW means dear wife. ?
  2. Sorry my friend! I am in Canada,on the west coast. Most of our province is mountains&forest, & the latest estimates count the black bears numbers between 120&150k. Lots of them! MrMac204
  3. Ok just bears. My DW and her girlfriend were geocaching off of Ioco road/heritage Boulevard recently, and came upond a momma bear with two cubs. They booked it out of there, drove 1/2 mile down the hill. They went into the woods and discovered another cub in a tree-10 feet behind a house on a trail. Leaping forward a few days and my DW's girlfriend happened upon a bear near the top end of North Road in Burnaby. She left! My point is the black bears are around big time right now, and they have cubs. With this huge black berry crop and a predicted major run of sockeye salmon this year the bears might not climb up the mountains for the summer looking for food. Be careful!!!!! DW got a lecture, and a stern look! ?
  4. I guess I qualify as an old fart, being a shade over 60..... as for tech I use a garmin glo bluetoothed to my android note4 it's fun accuracy on sunny days is amazing. not retired, but I want to be!!!! got my retirement lotto ticket LOL 6:30 A.M. off to work!!!!
  5. I try to give each cache a different "short" story, and a thank you with a smiley face. Lately I've been making up goofy poems, a different one for each cache, depends on the day! series tend to be harder to do this. I want to give a smile to the CO as they took the trouble to place the cache, so it's a sort of thanks I guess. the end of one that we tried to find three times recently, then we did: (Suepy is my dear wife) "finally I said lets go home I gotta pee And Suepy said just one more tree And as quick as that she had it in hand Then there was joy throughout the land!" it was longer than that but you get the point, if I find you cache you will have to suffer through bad poetry! Bhahahahaha!!!
  6. We have a new gps, an eXplorist GC. I figured out how to load caches yesterday (took me all morning!) but in the end I got 1000 loaded, from our home outward. We are going on a bit of a trip to visit relatives on the weekend, so I thought I'd load 900 more, with my relatives home as the starting point. I did a query, plugged in- no problem, it appeared to load onto the gps. So now I look at the gps, and it only show's 1013 caches. hmmmmm and to top that I can only access the first 203 of what I loaded yesterday. I've read the manual a few times (on line) and I can't figure this one out. Perhaps I am assuming that I can access any cach in the memory? or do I have to be in the vacinity of? help!!! Thanks MrMac204
  7. ok finally found a 500 - $449.99 at a local drug store chain... this is probably a bit high, I will wait a bit before I buy. (Vancouver, Canada) saving my pennies Mac.
  8. wouldn't it be cool if the external antennae had a blue tooth thing?? I recently got one with my cell phone to my ear piece- works like a charm no cables to hassle with! Mac.
  9. something that I caught the tail end of in the news last week- I think that a new gps satellite has been launched, to replace one that has been up there since '91 or '92 ... wouldn't it be great if this was another waas goodie? Mac.
  10. I would send a request to garmin and magellan - talk about a great way to get your product out there - I would imagine a progressive marketing department would jump all over this- the chance to get your product into the hands of future gps users- of course the kids would go home and talk about it to the folks etc.... and the suppliers in-house costs for something like this prob wouldn't be as much as a page of advertising in a magazine... heck, even send a pr person to show the teachers how to use them etc... Mac.
  11. Well I can only speak for Canada . I can think of two places right off gpscity.ca http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/canada.html gpscentral.ca http://www.gpscentral.ca/products.htm I know there are lots and lots of places in the states to purchase gps's as well,, I've seen folks post the links good luck! tryin to choose between a 76cs, and a 60cs....... flippiing coin.....
  12. Steve: I have just yesterday received the money for the gps- and I owe you a refund of ? $12.63? I cannot seem to find your email- can you email me please and let me know the amount. thanks! Mac. spanishbanks@hotmail.com
  13. I have not been able to get a WAAS signal here in Vancouver BC - on my boat, with a garmin 176C.... I wish that I could! 176c is on its way to a new owner in New York now, and when that sale is complete looks like I'll be getting a 60cs..... unless "revenue Canada" finds me first they have issues.....
  14. I see that these new explorists feature a 14 channel parallel reciever: quote: including all-new Magellan TrueFix™ technology, which incorporates a superior 14-parallel-channel, WAAS/EGNOS-enabled GPS receiver I wonder if this makes much difference with locking on/keeping a signal etc...
  15. sometimes it works... aha! genius again! success!!!! now to work on that quote thingy...
  16. one more try at this here avatar thingy....
  17. this is a test- your planet will blow up in 5 seconds.....
  18. Hi! well I am new to all of this- I do have a gps but I am selling it (176c) as it is more suited for boat applications - so when I get the $$ for that I will prob. purchase the 60cs... also I am trying out my avatar that my son made for me - clever little dude! signing off from the other side of Canada where the ocean meets the mountains "vancouver rocks!" I think....
  19. black bears kill/injure more folks than do grizzlies- and there are way more of them- they are smaller than grizzlies, but they are still larger than us peoples- best to be cautious when in bear country there are some good publications on how to keep yourself safe - leave the perfumes/aftershaves at home etc etc... now as for cougars, I met one in a bar last year that tore my heart out.... ahem.. ok thats another forum.... hehehehe
  20. grrrrr.. I have a person who wants this unit- but I have to ship it to NY ... and I'm in Canada.... trying to find a way to send it COD... ups and fedex won't do it...Canada post, one office says yes, another says no..... hhhaaalllpppp!!!! and no, I don't have a paypal account, I don't trust them... we're thinkin of driving down to bellingham and shipping it from there- not sure if we can do the COD thing though.....
  21. sorry I got the wrong price on that gps above.... $500 obo...
  22. bought it a year or so back to use on my boat, then decided that my boat is waay too much trouble to fix up ($$$ issues) so I've used this gps just walking around the neighbourhood - comes with all the cables/manuals/extra 32mg memory .. color!!!! gonna buy a hand held when this sells... $850.00 Canadian or best offer.... Mac. spanishbanks@hotmail.com also got a 14' plywood boat with a 25hp merc for sale and an icom IC-45 vhs marine radio.....
  23. well I guess my point was "generally" about whether the extra $$ to get the extra accuracy was worth it, and would it make any diff. anyway cause we don't get the waas signal here in B.C. but thank you all anyhow for the responses
