  10. My apologies for the four letter H-word. Post will be edited post-haste
  11. Cerberus: Imagine what the cache page that needs this forum looks like! Crusso does a good job of deleting the unnecesary notes from the cache page - but it gets ridiculous, especially when the self-proclaimed geo-police get on a rant. Honestly, if we are to keep that cache page itself from becoming a forum - this is the best option.
  12. That log is exactly what I've been screaming at my email this whole time! I hate that the cache page is becoming a discussion forum, and I hate that people think they can bully in and tell others how to play the game. I actually sent Crusso an email asking if there was a forum for this cache. I feel that linking a forum in the description MAY reduce the amount of 'notes' in the cache logs. My 2¢: if you aren't a lackey, a reviewer, or the cache owner - keep to yourself about 'don't do this' and 'shoulda done that'
  13. I have found 100 in a day - and I think that was about my limit. I do believe more is possible, however 100 in a day felt like it took a lot of the fun out of the game already so I can't imagine enjoying doubling or tripling those numbers. Most importantly, I do agree that so long as these high-numbers folks aren't actually doing anything to ruin the game for others, no need to pay them any mind.
  14. Not sure if this has been covered: First, there is a learning curve to every new system. I had just gotten used to some of the features of the old system - so it took a few tries. Most of the complaints I see on this thread appear to be from folks who must not be trying to use the system (events in my state, not changing sort order, etc.). I feel my bug report is completely valid. The initial search field clearly states 'City, State, GC code' - HOWEVER when I enter a valid GC code it returns a 'DNF' result. I have to take the extra time to go into the old advanced search and enter it into the 'GC Code' field. Any fix in the works for this? I know Groundspeak/Geocaching.com has taken a lot of negativity towards this new system (among other decisions), however I believe that the modern search tool can be very intuitive and clean - as soon as all of the bugs are shaken out of it. "If you continue to try to make everyone happy, then you will fail at making anyone happy"
  15. Okay - I know this has been covered somewhere - but I want an oppinion. I am planning on giving awards at an event. I really wanted to do trackable medals, but I couldnt find anything I like on multiple websites. I did find some engravable medals on a diferent site that match my needs, however they don't have tracking codes. My idea was to purchase some cheap trackables and engrave the trackable number from those over to the medals (along with the receipients geoname, and the words "trackable on geocaching.com"). After reading here I am thinging just buying a handful of TravelBug tags is the best bet. (I was orginally going to wo with Geo-Nick Sticks, since they are real cheap - but I don't want the icon to conflict with the trackable when it is discovered My questions are as follows: A) Is this acceptable as far as the rules are concerned, or am I violating the rules by not using a Groundspeak approved design? Is this 'classy' - or, more specifically - would you be okay with logging 'discover it' logs for this? I am only making 3 or 4 of these, so purchasing JUST codes at a minimum of 50 codes is really not cost-efective. Thoughts, suggestions?
