Don’t see any need for a change in the way events are logged, folks are having fun muli-logging them and folks are having fun complaining about it. If it were not this topic it would be something else. I liked Virtual caches, liked them a lot, and don’t want to see anything else happen to spoil the fun for others. Just by watching these forums some folks would like to do away with micros too, that also would take the fun out for a lot of folks. If it ain’t hurting you leave it alone, just because someone else does not play the game the way you think it should be done, and what does make all the whiners think they know best anyway, if you truly want a change move to the area and work one on one with the person or organizations who you think is spoiling the game for you other wise stay in da truck You can call be a liar, a cheater, a horse beater, but am still having fun playing the game my way not yours and ya’ll should not be trying to change that for everyone Last post in this senseless thread for me Joe

First let me breakdown what a true pocket cache is not (1) not a cache that has or ever will have a GC# (2) not a moving cache, there are some grand fathered in from before March 2003 (3) not a temporarily cache that will later become a regular cache later. (4) not an extra log book someone brought to the event just for the smiley (5) not a cache that is archive, or one never used (6) not a cache someone temporarily disabled and brought to the event (7) not a cache someone brought to the event just so folks could get an extra smiley (8) not to be logged on anyone’s cache just for the smiley (9) am sure I left a few off, read and understand the guidelines (10) if any of the above are done the cache listing will be archive and locked An event pocket cache is a temporarily cache hidden just for the event, or in someone’s pocket for the meet & greet for an ice breaker. They can be logged multiple times “ONLY” on the event page not anywhere else. There is no guideline against it. Show Me The Cache came up with the idea and name at the first Geo-Woodstock in Louisville KY as a way to break the ice and walk up and meet new folks and the new catch phrase was created “”Is that a cache in your pocket or are you just happy to see me “” Yep I am still having fun Joe

Wow go figure you are wathcing the whole country and passing judgment. . . I dont know the answer to your question, but I do know 1 thing: You dont live in WI Im pretty sure none of them really care what you think about thier caching activities either. Passing judgment? I don’t think so, I’m merely making an observation. If you represent an accomplishment, in this case the number of geocaches you’ve found, when you have not, you have lied. It’s not playing the game their way, it lying. They certainly are playing something, but it isn’t geocaching. 75% of my caches are members only, why you ask ? They are for folks that play the game the same way I do, Is that wrong, don’t think so they are my caches and will continue to do so. To the best of my knowledge I have one of the oldest liars caches around placed in July of 2002, later even flew from Nashville to Texas to do only one cache and it was a liars cache but knew it before leaving because of the previous logs Had a blast it was Toooooooooo COOL, after doing the cache met up with a bunch of really great local cachers over drinks and good food, them flew back home There are so many variations of the game is why I love it so much. If you don’t read the cache page before going, oh well Joe

The Mission 4: Southern Bowl by Project APE (GCC67) in Brazil has a maintenance check once a month or my checks stop going to Brazil. This was all set up before adopting the cache, oh how it was to be maintained along with other concerns from Groundspeak including a fee for it being placed with permission in the state rain forest. Been to more events that anyone to the best of my knowledge, and the silent majority does not agree with the vocal minority and most will not even read the forums anymore because of it. The only other cacher that has met more folks face to face than I would be Clayjar, but that is just a guess, speak up if you have. Joe I'm sure you've met a lot more geocachers than I have, but I've been to my share of events (about 30) and met my share of geocachers (over 300 when I stopped counting). I don't think this subject ever came up with more than one or two people. I'm surprised that its been a topic of conversation with everyone you meet. If you look at the majority of events, you do not see multiple logs. The practice only seems to be common in a few isolated regions. This leads me to believe that silent majority does not think this practice is normal or acceptable. In the majority of states ( 10 ) where we have attended events this is a common practice, have never been to three states where you have attended events. Personally don’t have a problem with multi-logs on an event cache page It just folks having fun, an this is what the sport / game is all about having fun. If you get bend out of shape by this type of logging don’t do it, it you like it go for it Don’t let anyone in the forums suck the fun out of the sport / game for you, play it the way you want to they are NOT represented by the silent majority only the vocal minority Have fun, if you are not, go do something else Joe

5.000 miles just for one cache but found three while there and one of those was a FTF that was hidden eight weeks earlier. It was a cache hunt that turned into an adventure Joe

mshathaway, would like to thank you for posting here on the site it is much appreciated by many of my fellow cachers When we are out hunting caches we should be aware of our surrounding not only for animals of any type but also to respect where we are at as a guest usually in a different areas than where we would be. Isn't this a worldwide event? What about a European host in the future. Would that be considered? Jamie Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought Jo said the only way Europe (and other locations) would be considered is if the majority of those attending were from that country/area. Two different events in the US in the same year don’t plan for that to happen. One in the US and one in UK yep we have talked about it, but that is all, just talked about it , no plans at this time It is not an east coast west coast thing, its what area can do the best job for those attending, I personally wanted the west coast for 2007, NC did the best job of convincing the committee, and myself that it should be there. In Ca they are already working on the proposal for 2008, what are ya’ll doing Hope that helps Joe
