  1. Does GPSBable allow to convert track log files saved from 60CS to some human readable format in linux ?
  2. it is simple - 60C/CS can hold half of the amount 76CS can hold
  3. Regardless of version of MG most people number versions by the number given on CD, now you can search forum for MG v4.
  4. It (according to Peter) tells us that you have MG v4 CD.
  5. It explains it, The version number I (and most people)use is the number written on CD itself which would be MapSource version number.
  6. Can you give a link ? the only thread about MG v3 I remember is mine where I complained that it couldn't find an address.
  7. 1. I think I said that I tried it and it was completely unusable. 2. it is the first time when somebody have autorouting in MG v3. I think you have MG v4.
  8. It could be that when you sent the map data from MapSource to your GPSr, that you did NOT check the little box labeled "Include Route Calculation Data". It is located in the lower left corner of the "Maps" tab in MapSource. It'll be grayed-out if you don't have any maps selected, or if selected maps are not autoroutable. If your maps ARE autoroutable, and the box is NOT checked, you're GPSr will not receive the routing data with the maps, and your autorouting GPSr will not autoroute (properly). It is a fairly common mistake. It is selected by default atleast when you download CS maps I know that MG v4 have autorouting, v3 doesn't. My experience - MG v3 is completely unusable on 60CS and I seriously doubt original post.
  9. Interesting, when I tried MG v3 on my 60CS it not only wouldn't autoroute but wouldn't find address. I believe I used latest version of MapSource at that time. Anyway v3 maps are pretty outdated atleast in my area.
  10. If you want color then you have only one choice - Garmin.
  11. Before sending map set to GPS MapSource creates index, and it takes 20 minutes on my 433 mhz laptop. Garmin would rather make 256meg version of reciever then do that.
  12. From my experience leaving WAAS "on" never hurts.
  13. Reception was perfect - open field, no buildings. Current draw was jumping once per second when I was trying to measure that.

  15. You should read that thread, you disappointment may disapear.
  16. There is a thread about it already. If it was not connected to cigarette light adapter then it is 99% battery loosing contacts issue.
  17. I noticed that 30 cm difference give you different signal distrubution. Anyway as I said earlier comparison of magellan and 60cs was discussed in othere thread.
  18. Where exactly you were carrying 60CS and Magellan ? Anyway this question was already discussed, the fact that magellan does't beep does't really mean it doesn' loose the signal.
  19. Position updates every 5 seconds are what I've observed on both a GPS12 and an eMap. I just checked the eMap again with a multimeter and the current would stay high for about one and a half seconds and then drop down to a lower value for about three and a half seconds before repeating. The behavior can vary somewhat with reception. Sometimes it wouldn't drop down when expected, presumably because the reception got worse (I'm doing the test indoors). The high value was about 160 mA and the low about 90 mA but neither was completely steady and this is with a cheap RS meter so I wouldn't vouch for the accuracy. I just checked my 60CS - update interval is 1 second no matter what mode it is in.
  20. Well, I think almanac data once recieved stays valid for some time - 40 minutes maybe I don't know. I definetely had a valid almanac data already when I turned it on under trees. I can try it again.
  21. Yes, but interwals between wakeups I think shorter then 5 seconds. It is more like 1 second. I noticed it when I tried to measure current draw in battery saver mode
