  1. I sure know it is 1Hz atleast. But what is maximum "real" update rate possible in the GPS ? There are units with 5hz propogated (aproximated) update rate, I am NOT intrested in these.
  2. What is the maximum update rate for GPS system ? I mean real update rate not the aproximation - how many times GPS reciever can get position/speed stamps per second ?
  3. I noticed that instruction mean "Do not conect GPS before installing drivers" when they say "Do not conect GPS before installing drivers"
  4. I have to see it myself but I sold my Vista when I bought 60CS.
  5. there is no way for display to have 2 seconds lag. Especially when you in nonmapping page. Anyway I checked and there is less then 0.3 sec. difference.
  6. Well, display lag cannot be that large either. 0.5 seconds maybe but not 2 seconds. I think display lag is much smaller then 0.5 sec. Anyway, give me WWW adress where I can see accurate time i will compare with my GPS time. I just compared http://nist.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Eastern/s/-5/java with what 60CS shows. it is within 0.3 second which is consistent with posted accuracy.
  7. I was not talking about WAAS. I simply said that 2 seconds difference cannot be explained by GPS signals delays, delays are just too small. To have 2 second delay sattelites have to be farther then the moon
  8. Delays of satellites signals are in the range of hundredth of a second and can be accounted for in the reciever to get acuracy in the range of 10-100 nanoseconds.
  9. I have not noticed any change in display speed (60CS and Vista ) The battery life ? it is 12 channels reciever all the time and when you turn WAAS on/off it just redistribute channels among sattelites.
  10. How turning WAAS OFF is helping in anything ? I keep in ON.
  11. If you familar with soldering you can easily adjust output voltage on cell phone adaptors.
  12. Does Vista C uses the same power cable 60CS uses ? if so then I think it can accept 12 volts Or you are trying to power it via USB ? I wouldn't recomend 12 volts through USB connector. .... I looked at manual, it powered through USB connector. which means it accepts 5 volts and unless you know for sure you shouldn't try 12 volts.
  13. Are you under house arrest with GPS reciever on the leg ?
  14. I tried it with CS v6.0, works fine, but I wish voice instruction were shorter and/or faster.
  15. Not completely related problem but I want to know opinions I use 60CS with friction mount in car. There is not enough friction between mount and dashboard and I droped it few times on the car floor. Last time I broke bracket (from the friction mount) which attaches to the unit. Will Garmin send me new bracket ? I don't think it completely my fault and warranty is still there.
  16. Price is $70, for that price (I think) you can get real bluetooth reciever. Nice idea though.
  17. I was too, but when I looked at the track it contains legs and timestamps and calculates "leg speed". I think it is because instantenious speed doesn't make sense when tracklogs are maid with intervals like 30 seconds (normally )
  18. I too had like 200-300 miles/hr max speed with Vista. But with last firmware version such glitches became rare. With 60CS I once had a track with leg lentgth ~8 miles and leg time is 4 seconds. it is ~2 miles/second. 10 times speed of sound. But it was not recorded as a Max speed.
  19. I suppose you have 60C/CS drivers installed, then install latest version of EasyGPS
  20. I swear there was post with words "gpsbabel" "USB" in this thread. I got into this thread through the google Anyway I am sorry.
  21. tried "gpsbabel -i garmin -f usb -o easygps -F outfile" in linux version of gpsbabel-1.2.4_beta09202004 compiled without -DNO_USB flag is not working yet
  22. These are smartphones with external GPS recievers.
  23. Thanks, I was more intrested in Yes/No answer, So the answwer is Yes. I want to put GPS coordinates in Digital Camera pictures. And it have to be done in linux.
  24. I need timestamps along with coordinates I know that USB is not ready in linux, that is why I am saving tracklogs in MapSource then I want convert them to text format.
