  2. Yeah! So far so good. They sent me an email about the fixes....
  3. The latest update 2.96 Beta update now gives this capability although there are other bugs...
  4. Went back to 2.95... 2.96 freezes screen on all poi's and searches and when I was returning on a route I used a couple of hours before it kept wanting me to make u turns!!! Thank goodness I had saved all my waypoints on the computer because the backdate wiped them all out.
  5. I use a 300 on my ATV all the time with no problems. Gets great reception.
  6. I agree. I use mine in my truck & on my ATV and hiking and just leave the backlight always on and no difficulty at all reading in all types of lighting. My 2600 nimh batteries last at least 9 hours and a second set of batteries are not that heavy to carry...I have the external power cord for the unit and do not even use it in the truck or on the ATV... Love this unit and touchscreen... The key to great battery life is a quality charger and batteries. I have the La Crosse BC900 and it works great...
  7. The default backlight level is just too low to be useful in most situations. It just increases it. My testing and other reports I've found show that this makes little difference in battery life. You sure made it sound like the cure-all for the screen, but you merely turned on the light? Yes, its that simple. There seems to be paranoia that the backlight will somehow run the batteries down in 2 minutes or something and people just can't accept otherwise. My own testing and valid tests I've seen others post clearly show that with good batteries, the backlight makes very little difference on battery life and even with the backlight on all the time the Oregon still outlasts that other gps that everyone seems stuck on this week that apparently does kill the battery if used for more than a couple minutes. I agree with the simplicity. I have the Oregon 300 and when I was plugged into the computer with the USB it was very bright. When I unplugged it was much dimmer. And then I found the quick push on the power button and a screen pops up to lock the screen and also to brighten the screen. It was only about half way. I brightened it up all the way and walla, same as being plugged in. Nice and bright. Soooo, I set the back light to always on, left the compass on and everything else, loaded some fully charged 2600 nimh La Crosse AA's in. Left the unit on with backlight always on and played with it and just let it sit much of the time and after 9 hours still had 1 bar left!!! Used it on my ATV yesterday for about four hours on constantly with back light constantly on and it still showed full on the battery bars. No problems whatsoever in being able to see the screen both in direct sunlight and with cloud cover. Love that touch screen!!!
  8. I had the same problem with the "none" in maps on my Oregon 300. It was just that the 4 G Micro SD card was not seated properly.
  9. They have stopped supporting nRoute. Some newer maps do not work on it..... Just hooked up n'route to my Oregon 300 and it seemed to work OK.
  10. I think n'route will do that. I did notice they took that option out of Mapsource.
  11. I got my Oregon 300 about a week ago and it was loaded with 2.80. I immediately loaded the 2.95 beta and have had no problems with reception... Scott
