  1. Congrats! Get ready to start checking your email obsessively. I am new to the game and have hidden a couple of caches. Every day, I look forward to seeing if someone has found them. Lots of fun.
  2. That would be great to find. Completely unique and done by hand for swag is awesome. I see the little food containers you are talking about at Maui Taco, maybe ask someone local who is in the food service industry.
  3. If one wants to do a liar's cache, then put a note on the log book or somewhere prominant on the cache so when someone finds it they know to create a story before they hit the website when they get home. I am new to the game, and this sounds like a very fun idea and will do a cache like this.
  4. My older brother used to take my stuff when we were kids, so I stole a roll of his tape a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the donatation, bro! And yes, I am going to make a cache titled something like, "Stole My Brother's Tape."
  5. There is another here in the Twin Cities which emits a loud alarm when openned, but I won't name here. Everyone should get the surprise I did. It would be hilarious to do a webcam cache like that to catch all the crazy faces people would make.
  6. I had such an itch to get going in this that I made my first find while waiting for my gpsr to be delivered. I selected a cache in a park near me which was near a softball field. I used first and second base to line up the cache and also to guestimate the distance from the main path. Google maps are really good for my area and I have used them almost everytime to at least plan a parking area and approach route. At least for most of my 29 finds!

  8. I have ordered 4 TBs a few days ago and this thread is very helpful before I release them into the wild. I have found a few, I am new to the game, pictures really add a lot to the experience so I am going to try to take a pic for each TB I find. With the great advice I hope to make my TBs more secure.
  9. Burnsville for this noob!
  10. I did my first hide today and left an LED flashlight for the FTF and let my young daughters put the rest of the swag in. The FTF left the prize, which is fine with me, but I kind of like the idea of leaving something a little special. The hide was fairly simple, with a nice walk, so just starting out and hope to do some more challenging hides as I play the game more. P.S. Hey knowschad, I am in the south metro of your neck of the woods.
  11. To me, this is a game. It is a battle of wits and also endurance. The hider may spend several hours creating a clever container and also finding a great place to hide the cache. How long I look or how many times I chose to come back is my part of the battle. If and when I chose to sign a DNF is me tipping my cap to the hider, "You got me", can you give me help to find your cache. Just like there are great hiders, there are great finders, if someone can do a great cache and outwit the finders they deserve the respect of a DNF. Just the opinion of a newb.
  12. My job requires that I wear a reflective safety vest and I happen to have an extra at home. I am still new and haven't had to try this trick yet, but I think the vest and a clipboard would make most people overlook me.
  13. If you do log it, the green box will just become a smilie that stares back at you just as much. 30 bucks isn't too bad a price to end that.
  14. 804 in south metro of the Twin Cities. Not sure how many are by King Boreas.
  15. Maybe part of the puzzle could be muggle avoidance? Just a thought from a noob. I work in a major airport, when I need to walk to another area and want to avoid questions like "Where can I get a taco?", I have carried a piece of paper and had a look of annoyance on my face. Never been bothered once. Nobody wants to talk to someone who is going to chew someone else out. Other times, like near the end of a shift and I am heading to punch out, I often do get questions, which I am usually happy to answer. Attitude sells it. I am still figuring out how to get this to work, I have a safety vest and would like an official looking iron on to really sell it. Any ideas?
  16. I am in the south metro of the Twin Cities and for this area Google Maps does a great job on zooming in to see playground equipment. I have 2 kids, 8 and 5, so have used this to scout for new parks even before starting geocaching.
