  1. If you were in the middle of Alberta...I'd say GC1T8JE. 'Cause it hasn't been found yet. It is easy, and kid-friendly, nothing remarkable, just lonely.
  2. wow. I read i think about half of this thread and felt like I was magically set knee-deep in a comical episode of Black Adder / Hitchhiker's GTTG or Monty Python. **I got happy when I realised that it was a riddle, though!
  3. Query... ^^ where it refers to the library & browse tabs being gone, and now there's a 'sync' button...(I am new, so I never knew the library/browse tabs anyhow) But when I press the Sync Button up top (or most of the other buttons along that ribbon) - THAT is usually when my VP freezes. Not Responding.
  4. I ran out of things to curse at my Magellan Triton 1500 lasnight as I stormed off, leaving poor hubby (an IT programmer/designer) to discover the source of my woes. I came back down after a hot shower to see his laptop out, with VP installed on it. My computer with VP installed on it. Baby BAM's computer with VP installed on it. (I also tried to get it to work at work, but no-go) "It's not you. It's nothing WE have done wrong. This software just SUCKS. It's useless." I don't think I can 'help you' very much (I sure can empathise though!) But I just managed to get the Vantage Point relatively installed by using a tutorial by jungleghost. It was for a slightly older version, but that was okay - It still walked me through the installation, and there was something that he noted in the process which was coincidentally OPPOSITE to what Magellan says...and he was right. (this was in regards to running Vista, and running the .exe as admin) Anyhow, in that tutorial he noted that VP and Nat. Geographic cannot be open at the same time. Maybe this is something that is affecting your chances for success? We're going on a "caching roadtrip holiday" starting tomorrownight, and our software has impeded us from being able to plan our route. I feel your frustration.
  5. I have a Magellan Triton 1500 and want to find the easiest way to enter all the caches coordinates along our route from home to destination. (Roughly Vancouver, B.C. to Calgary, AB) I see lots of adverts and links to download Garmin software/features that instantly upload for the compatible device...but nothing for Magellan. Intro deets: I'm still new to this, and went through a huge panic attack when I got my first magellan 500. It was defective. completely. But I just thought I was doing something wrong. (Reaaallly wrong!) I had a big day planned with over 80+ beavers, cubs & scouts (& siblings) to teach them about caching/ettiquette/appropriate contents of a cache/building caches/hiding caches, etc...coming up the following weekend. And I had a defective G[reat] P[ile of] S! It was a horrible way to begin, so alot of the "stuff I learned" was junk. I have the software that came with the Magellan, but it doesn't seem to have any fluid way to pull cache info and sync it to my device, either. I must be missing something. So far, I am plopping them in one by one - Which for a night out doing one or two caches would be just dandy. But to potentially have ...well...I actually don't even know how many I'd be looking at along that route....but it would be LOTS....Can someone please help me???
  6. I did! Just this sunday! It was amazing! And I saw Llamas! And contemplated putting the flip flops back on...but I saw no "Llamas bombas"...so I continued to bare my sole(s) to the path. I figured my feet had been in shoes far too long, and were getting 'tender'. Caching is a great time to toughen up! buttercup.
  7. lol..short answer as per rules & guidelines - approx. 72 hours. And then there's my chatty side... Hi! I placed 6 caches with a group two weekends ago, and pretty much 5 out of the 6 were rejected due to either questionable permission regarding private property or else the proximity to other caches. I went back the next evening after work, walked all around to get them, and re-placed most of them (it got late). The reviewer assisted me with the reason for why the cache was archived, and what to do...but i think there may be a different way to go about "fixing" an un-published/archived cache. It sounds like we both followed instructions, and did what sounded like the proper way to resolve the issue, but it seems like at least three of my caches are still lost in the archives, too. So far it's been 10 days. But I'm pretty new to it too, and it may just be as simple as Geocaching is really taking off, and the reviewers have lots in queue. I'm not too sure - but that wouldn't surprise me. Also, they are volunteers who obviously love doing this as much or likely more than the next guy...so unless there's a fat paycheque to sweeten the deal I don't blame them for not being behind the computer all day! lol! I'm excited to see mine get published, too! Hope it works out for you soon, mediamst!
  8. This is a fantastic thread topic! I agree - Learning about the handles helps introduce eachother, and can often tell a great story. Mine is pretty basic, but it's my choice all the same so here goes: 7 year old son = Bracken Mom = Andria (Andi) Dad = Mak = BAM We love the idea behind nestling little treasures out in the world for others to enjoy. Like treasure boxes. BAMboxes. We just got into actually being able to cache because until my birthday we didn't have a gps - so now the fun will ensue!
