  1. I have a Explorist 400 and was wondering if anyone has, or knows where I can find, a basemap for it that covers Jamaica.
  2. Anyone have experience with aftermarket batteries, like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/HQRP-Battery-fits-Magellan-eXplorist-500LE-600-700-GPS-/350514749720#vi-content Or any others you might suggest buying (or staying away from)? Cheers
  3. I'm having problems on my end. Last query arrived on 4/4 at 12:57 Last night and this morning I created a total 6 queries and they all ran (plus 2 other scheduled queries), but I've received no emails. I am receiving other, non-Groundspeak, email. Hope it get's fixed soon, as I was about to take a trip as well.
  4. It wouldn't be difficult to mold explosive material in to the shape a toys cars or whatnot. A clear container is no guarantee that it's not a bomb.
  5. Ha! I searched and didn't find that thread. LOL I sorta suspected it was a ploy.
  6. My latest CheaperThanDirt catalog had a blurb saying the government is destroying ammo cans and that they are getting scarce. No idea if it's true or not, but thought people might be interested.
  7. Northern Tool has a good selection too. I've bought some small ones there that are working well from inside a lip balm tin micro.
  8. http://roadnav.sourceforge.net/index.php Just came across this and didn't find any mention of it here. I haven't tried it, so no opinions on it. Cheers
  9. I highlighted it, right clicked and selected "search google for GWVI". This is what I found. http://www.geowoodstockvi.com/
  10. In case anyone is curious, they said no, not allowed.
  11. I don't want to open a can of worms, but I have a question about placing a very specific and topical banner "ad" on my 4WD geocache listings. Forest Rescue, GCK5H7 and Road to Two Forks, GCZRHX On the listing page I remind people to follow the Tread Lightly principles, but I'd like to also put this at the bottom of the listing. http://www.treadlightly.org/images/4x4.jpg I have to get permission from Treadlightly.org to use it, but I thought I'd check here first. Cheers.
  12. Usually this: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...t&noImage=0 For longer hikes where I want to carry food, water etc., a day pack.
  13. I liked this one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...02-e0f199dade4c Not sure what it means, if anything, but I liked the Red Skelton character as a kid. Also this one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...2c-14addf80c9d8 which, sadly, I didn't have time to go do last time I was in Alnwick.
  14. I use this one: http://www.thecompassstore.com/military3h.html
  15. Here're the pages for my two TB's. This one missing after the first move: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=51500 This one apparently stolen after a very few moves, one to a small town on the east coast (note it's destination) http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1075298 I'm not going to put a lot of hope in future TB's, that's for sure. LOL But you place a TB, you take your chances. Personally I only pick them up once in a while.
  16. It doesn't matter where you put them, just remember where they are. When you want to import them in to Street Atlas just navigate to where you saved them. For instance, Street Atlas is on my D: drive, and all my geocaching info is on E:, so a save mine as E:\geo\<locality_name>\cache\<locality_name>.txtStreet Atlas 2007 (don't know if 2006 is the same) supports hyperlinks in the waypoints, so I have the associated html files that Gsak creates in the above "cache" directory.
  17. You're probably obligated to visit Alnwick and take a tour of Alnwick castle. It was Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movie, and it's been in quite a few other movies as well. There's TB lodge near it as well, GCWW93. I highly recommend the Salmon Station cache, GCNB2G. A few other really good cache locations are: Caller Crag, GCPBK6 You can see my house from here!, GCKNNJ Manners Makyth Man, GCPV2H Greyfiars Bobby, GCJKTR in Edinburgh is an interesting cemetary and the story of Bobby is pretty amazing. Have fun! I'm headed there next month.
  18. Anyone gotten this combination to work? I'm headed to the UK soon and wondering if I need to take my Meridian Gold rather then my Explorist. At least I think with the Gold I can use it to find my location on the map, like I do with Delorme Street Atlas here in the US.
  19. I think you are showing a serious lack of commitment - you are going to have to set some priorities! Yeah. my fiancee says also that I need to be commited.
  20. How big are you? Will you fit in a 1650 Pelican case?
  21. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can commit to doing it. It's my fiancee's birthday, so she might have other plans But we'll try to check back closer to the time, and see if it still needs doing.
