  1. I've been a registered member now for what, four years? But can't log in via my wife's iPhone- same issue, says my acct needs validation (*facepalm*) We were hoping to get out with the kids for the year's first caches today since it's a public holiday here in Canuckland.
  2. In no particular order, cos... well, I'm too lazy to think of an order... (bear in mind, I've only done 42 caches all up to date...) 1) Top of the Hill Multi by Nozzletime - and not just cos my partner in crime that day whacked himself in the nuts twice... 2) Down by the Bay by Purple Fever - if only cos it was deviously annoying, considering it was my second ever cache hint... 3) Gnome's Cairn by Tick and Nammie - this thing has to be seen to be believed... 4) Geeks Only by stone_soup and Roswell.fr - it helped me really appreciate one of my brothers-in-law... 5) Stained Glass Cache by Buttons and Beaux - neat puzzle, neat view, neat hide...
  3. Congrats!!! I had to satisfy myself with finding four caches in Ottawa (though one required the ability to translate binary, so that was kinda neat)
  4. Well, I got great deal on a Garmin GPSMap60 on ebay. The Magellan Sportrak Map was also on my shopping list, would have been nice, but I just couldn't catch a break in the auctions. It's miles ahead of my eTrex yellow, so I ain't arguing.
  5. Wish I could join you! I'll be roaming Ottawa over the long weekend though. Dang. Heh.
  6. Just picked up a new-in-box GPSMAP60 on ebay for $230, +$16 USD shipping to Toronto area. According to Garmin's site, the rrp on this unit is over $300USD.
  7. If you do end up looking for a handheld, you can pick up units like the Magellan Sportrak Pro and Garmin eTrex Legend for under $250 on ebay? I just bought a new-in-box Garmin GPSMap60 for $230 as an upgrade from my eTrex yellow.
  8. Just ordered a GPSMAP60 from ebay, I'll take some pics on our first outing.
  9. Bah. I have a Zire 31 and I love it. My bro-in-law uses a Zire21 and it's absolutely loaded with caches, over 1000.
  10. My brother-in-law has a Vista; his only issue with it seems to be the sporadic need to recalibrate the compass. Can anyone vouch for the Magellan's in comparison to the Garmins?
  11. Afternoon folks, I thought I'd solicit some opinions. I currently own a little Garmin eTrex yellow. It's been a good and faithful little GPSr since I took up the hobby, but I find myself wondering "Is there more to life than a small yellow eTrex?". The fact that I have some funds burning a hole in my ebay pocket right now doesn't help. I've been watching ebay auctions on GPSr's, and seen the Magellan Sportrak, Explorist 300, Meridian (including one in colour) and Garmin eTrex Vista, eTrex Legend, GPS 72, Geko 301 all going for under $250 (about all I can afford at max). My question is, what should I be aiming for here? Which units are better than the others? Is, for example, an eTrex Vista on par, above, or below an Explorist 300? Anyone feel like helping a hopeless comparative newbie out?
  12. (*gets bumped off edge*) NOOOOOOOOOooooooo...... (*distant splat*)
  13. Wombats are just plain adorable by nature. Shame they dig holes big enough to sink a tractor tire... Thanks for the update, Nothingface, I look forward to hearing where he ends up
  14. (*waits in eager anticipation*)
  15. It's a great relief to see you're alive, Nothingface. I look forward to hearing where Nigel ends up.
  16. Heya folks. Just wondering if anyone's seen or heard from Nothingface in the last month or so. He picked up my Nigel the Wombat TB (my very first...) from the Hidden in Hidden Valley cache (GCJ41H) back on July 4th, and I've seen and heard nothing since. This is my first TB, dammit. It's supposed to be on a race to Florida with one of my brother-in-law's TB's... (*sighs*) Anyways, if anyone sees or hears from Nothingface, could they please enquire on my behalf? Thanks Gdaybloke
  17. I bought my Garmin eTrex at Wal-Mart. Does that count? (heh)
  18. Yeesh, now I gotta make a figurine of her without my wife lookin at me funny??? (*rofl*)
