  1. ditto on these sentiments - thought there might be others like us in geocaching... Welcome Koganite to our ever expanding geo-family...have FUN...
  2. a pineapple/hula geowoodstock is a great idea...and if i do 4 CITO's in 2014, Groundspeak will send me a roundtrip ticket to Hawaii?? ...geez, geocaching in the 50th state would finish up many state challenges...overall, lovin' it...
  3. no number = no discovery...
  4. we're in the middle of another artic polar blast with more 8-12" accumulation in NW Ohio & SE Michigan, so a nice,icy-comfy snow picnic would be so "Dr. Zhivago" romantic... with that in mind, try GC34E...Power Lady while wearing your best below-zero outer and under wear...
  5. The type of person who practices saturation hiding, (what we call carpet bombing), lives by the motto that quantity trumps quality, every time. The caches they hide utilize crappy containers, in uninspired locations, with copy/paste cache pages. Some people don't understand the 'true spirit of Geocaching'.If you find a cache that needs owner maintenance, you should say so in the log.If others have already mentioned issues but nothing has been done, then a NM is appropriate. If there are several NM logs (or it has been months with no owner response), then a NA is called for.If WE, as a community expect more, and demand it, we will get MORE. The tools are there, we just need to have the stones to use them. well said fellow cachers... +1
  6. all the good names like barnacle bear, bucknut63, scuba, roadkill109, stumpy75, team mina, keystone, good dog, cheech gang, yogi57, jinkle, gizmo guy 411, T hunter, pbz, the bearclaws, mdwalsh, and gramababy13 were already taken, so i was left with such a nana, which i am, and yes, it still fits...
  7. And then there are the Virtuals which require some real work, going to several locations to gather information and The Bob help you if you got some of it wrong or missed a piece when you get back home after a long journey and find the CO does review responses and is a stickler. most geocachers are out here nodding their heads in agreement to both statements... so mhowes25, go find that virtual and make up your own mind - if you like them and want more, go to Waymarking.com and if not, then not...just have fun caching nonetheless at geocaching.com...
  8. your attitude lel h is a fresh breeze on these forums... welcome to our sometimes zany community aka geocachers... i also suggest you consider being a premium member before doing your multi cache with the kidzzzzz... you want their first cache hide to be a positive adventure success...that being said, go ahead - some inevitable newbie mistakes can be aided by your locals... just ask for help when it happens...heck, i still goof up and thankfully my caching buddies have my back...
  9. kudos for reopening the topic Moun10Bike - in my old EC submission prior to GSA i did provide my email and already have taken the necessary unsolicited steps... the "so What" factor comes into play when gc.com gave me a place to give my opinion/aka whining, using these forums as a means of discussion/entertainment after being cooped up inside on way-too-many days with below-zero cabin fever...
  10. every rules/system needs occasional review for updating - that's the plus of these forums - to put ideas out there, plant a seed and watch the growth inbetween squabbles oops, meant inbetween fruitful discussions...
  11. briansnat..."Feel free to continue to enjoy this sport for free the way thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people do. And if you think the premium features might be worth it then feel equally free to shell out the whopping 9 cents a day."... well said... 'K13'...If you want some of the perks, like Pocket Queries, Bookmark Lists and being able to give Favorite points, pony up the whopping sum of 8 cents per day... i agree, good counter... y'all who know me know i can't add, much less divide, but however much is is per day >>>> Shhhhhhhh... Groundspeak might hear and decide to up it to a dime next year...
  12. somewhere in the very tiny small print of my gc.com premium membership agreement i probably gave away my email address to "approved" third parties...but i don't have to like it... this so smacks of SPAM with its' $ request, no matter that i enjoy earthcaching, and would probably support it anyhow...
  13. geez and golly...global differences of opinion airing during a snowy, artic chilly winter are great at keeping my brain cells from getting cabin fever and going askew... honzak83 wanted to know if it was expected to answer the reviewer's questions and i support the "yes" answer...
  14. chose for my 2,000 cache find last June, NOVA NIKKI a Northwest Ohio cache hidden March 4, 2001 by GizmoGuy411... named after the CO's dogs, this traditional regular is still found with the best of all the "good old times" metropark geocaching attributes for that special feel good smiley...
  15. thanks nyhof ever so much for this thread...however, being a Libra, by nature 'tis too hard to choose just one favorite... looking forward to enjoying the discovery of other cachers' fantastic finds !!!
  16. common sense sometimes just slips away in the passion of upcoming discovery...ahhh,the human frailty element again...
  17. Then there's the multi-cache alternative. The first stage could be the natural area you wish to highlight. Information at that location could provide the coordinates needed to find the final stage, which is hidden in a less environmentally sensitive area. my vote, FWIW, do the multi-cache alternative now... save the discussions for the bonfires - with,or without,alcohol...
  18. no other signatures plus no cache container...yuppers - it's a DNF dilemna - one that the CO decides the outcome...
  19. geez...today my "yours" cache placements only emits a 500 servor error...awaiting Groundspeak's dilemna correction/solution...
  20. memorable events respect my time... cache page descriptions of geo-activities help decide what's best for my schedule...
  21. touching base with nature and treasure hunting are both primal needs filled with the joy of geocaching... also, let's not forget the bonuses of moving travelbugs towards their goals, meeting other geocachers at events, sharing remarkable finds' tales and lastly, the selfies pix i take at the most unlikely locations...
  22. ahhh, remembering with fondness the excitement of my first cache placement... oh to be be sure there were newbie mistakes that ensued, however, the patience and help from the NWOGEO community cannot be forgotten, nor is the sharing attitude of geocaching FUN ... the manner approaching newbies with cache flaws is uppermost in alleviating further snafus - it takes a village, to be sure...
  23. ROUGE REVIEWER doing his job: methinks Don J solved the case of the rogue tube of Rapturous Red Rouge Lipstick missing from the Midwest Geobash... finally surfacing in the hands of cheech, who, BTW, will be taking lipstick application class II to learn restraint - keep it classic and simple and do not ever bury the lipstick...
  24. here in NW Ohio, our generally accepted rule-of-thumb consideration for other cachers is a two mile limit for multi-cache stages...that allows for bikers and hikers as well as drivers to enjoy the experience...
  25. But that was the easy part... fingernails on the blackboard (chalkboard later). It is a forgotten sound, today. guys, you just made my dismal day a bit brighter... truly laughing out loud as i'm looking for the nonexistent forum "like" button
