  1. Before NFA can get on here to promote his cache, I'll do it for him. The Cache NFA-53 Rupert's Cash Cache is a fiendishly evil cypher that I have worked for days on and am still no closer to solving it than I was when i started. Posted on July 7 2004 it still hasn't been found. The worst part about it is that a perfectly good $100 bill is sitting in it and I cant figure out how to get to it. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. For me this is just one of my hobbies. I dont feel the need to spend the money (that I don't have at this time) right now when I can get all of the information I need for an ocasional cache with a basic membership. I plan to get a full membership someday but, right now I don't need all of the features a Premium Membership can bring.
  3. It may not seem like much but i got a GPSr holder. Great for micros cause it holds all the basics; GPSr, pen, compass, extra batteries, flashlight, and micro swag. The best part is that it clips to my belt so I dont lose it.
  4. I think digging a hole on your property to RECESS the cache it would be ok. If the cache is going to be COVERED with the dirt it would be against the regulations. The regulation is against burring a cache not making a hole
  5. What you seem to want is to share the "idea behind" the statue. This is mostly dependant on the cacher and not the hider. For example: 1: If the cacher is only about the numbers, either a virtual or a physical would accomplish the same thing: A snapshot or a quick TNLNSL, one more smiley, in and out in 5 mins. 2: If the cacher is more interested in the hunt or the locations take them to, either would do the same thing. A virtual would bring the cacher in and they would stick around for an indefinate time. A Physical would bring in the cacher they would sign the log and still stick arround to view the site. Also on a side note I find more enjoyment from finding a hidden object that over 99% of the population is oblivious to. Therefore a virtual no matter what the "WOW" factor is, is a turn off for me. I'll get one if I'm At a location anyway, but I'll make a special trip for a Traditional. To get your Idea noticed I suggest you put a container out there somewhere. That will get the cache listed, and people will see it, or not as THEY choose. Fighting for a virtual just wastes time until its listed (if at all). So a Thumbs Down vote for me
  6. My pack is kinda light compared to all you -Magellen SportTrack Map -Cache Sheets -Some Swag -Extra Batteries -Compass -Binoculars -Camera -A Pensil & Pen -A Bottle of Water -My Hiking Stick -and A Bag of Caching Karma (things I've found, Sig Items, & a list of the caches I've found, ect...) Well thats it. I have a basic tool kit in the car and some rope. I guess that makes me a lightweight. I'll probaly add to the list later, but for now this works for me and only weighs about 5lbs.
  7. I didnt really get stuck, but at a recent event my muffler fell off and was dragging. I had to wire it up with a clothes hanger while laying in the mud puddle!
  8. Sounds like an interesting approach, but I think that sounds more like a multi. The micro being the first stage leading to your "TB area" as the main cache.
  9. 3 1/2 years in the USAF. Avionics sensors maintenance at Cannon AFB, NM. Wish I could have stayed in, but stuff happens.
  10. The site that I use for Driving Directions is http://maps.yahoo.com/dd This used to be powerd by mapquest but I guess they split off.
  11. QUOTE (NFA @ Oct 27 2004, 08:31 AM) Hi, There is a puzzler in my area, Rupert's Cash Cache, that has a cool story, a fiendishly tough cryptogram, and a $100 FTF prize. It is currently being watched by 78 people, all of them hoping to be the first to find the cache. nfa-jamie QUOTE (BigWhiteTruck @ Oct 28 2004, 07:14 PM) "Fiendishly"? Hardly covers it. . . I have gotten to the point where I believe I can solve the cipher if I can just discover the code key, Which is supposed to be in the letter. . . although I can't find it. Well i think i know what the key is, but i cant figure out how to use it in the cipher!!! hmmm......wanna trade info? I cant get the cache anyway as i live in central ohio and to get to the area its about 6 hours one way. but i am still trying to crack the code. mabey i'll get lucky in the lotto and go on a big road trip.
  12. In my own opinion, if your hunting for boxes with a GPSr its GeoCaching. If you dont have a GPSr it turns into a diffrent sport called Letterboxing. On the other hand if you log it on "geocaching.com" it was geocaching.........hmmmm. needs more thought.
