  1. Well, as I stated in my original post, rightly or wrongly, I placed quite a few caches on my watchlist. This was done over a period of several years and that watchlist has grown considerably. This was done whenever new ones appeared close to me as well as for ones I was interested in visiting sometime in the future. Thus, I want to delete them and was simply wondering if there were any way to delete more than one at a time that isn't obvious in the geocaching.com webpages. So, IMHO I think having the ability to selectively choose multiple caches to delete would be a nice feature to have on geocaching.com. And, while I am thinking about it, I used to live in Hawaii and had a backyard swimming pool. Your username (or a portion of it anyway) brought back memories of watching several families of mongeese who preferred to drink from our chlorinated pool rather than go less than 20 yards away to a flowing stream of absolutely wonderful and clear mountain spring water. Perhaps they felt protected by our fencing and landscaping around the pool...
  2. Over time, I have added numerous geocaches to my Watchlist. This results in receiving tons of emails letting me know everytime someone finds one of the caches on the list. Is there any way to delete more than one cache from the watchlist at a time via some kind of a selection box? It would be very helpful to have this available so we could better manage our Watchlists when they get too big. Deleting them one at a time is a real pain...
  3. Has anyone really looked at the YouTube video shown on "http://www.myspace.com/geocachermagazine"? While it appears to show some information regarding the first cache hidden and the person who hid it, it clearly shows something that is not allowed by geocaching.com rules - using a pointy object to dig a hole for the cache to be hidden or retrieved! I can't believe this hasn't been commented on before this. These forums have been full of this very hotly debated subject in recent weeks yet it appears it is being condoned by some members. Am I missing something here? Sorry, I know this is off-topic but if we don't pay attention to the details and contents of what is being proposed, we'll only "dig" ourselves a deeper hole...
  4. Being a longtime friend of Krieger as well as being present when his Sage One cache was placed, I am obviously biased on the matter. However, I must ask the question - Why is it that it only takes one complaint to ruin the sport for everyone else? The complainer, in this case, has well over 4000 finds of his own and has apparently made Geocaching his life after retiring and buying an rv to roam around the country in search of caches. As has been said by many, sometimes folks have too much time on their hands and begin looking for problems... In my humble opinion, I would think it would be more appropriate, if one does find a questionable cache placement, to contact the owner directly to discuss it with them before posting derogatory comments in the cache logs or contacting a cache reviewer. Only after having discussed it with the owner and coming to no amenable solution or understanding, should one contact the reviewer. Even then, placing a negative comment in the log such as was done in this case would not be appropriate. Negative comments serve no purpose and only tend to drag down a very positive sport that is to be enjoyed by all cachers. The open desert here in northern Nevada in mostly soft sand that gets blown around by the winds. There are no trees, only sage brush in the area. Thus, placing/hiding a cache that will withstand the harsh elements can be a difficult task. Placing the container in a shallow hole, dug by hand, is by no means damaging to the local environment. Within a few days one would be very hard pressed to identify any disturbance due to the shifting sands. In fact, the act of driving an off-road vehicle over these areas does much more damage than any cache placement could ever do. In the case of Sage One, if one were to place rocks in a pile to cover up the cache container, you would have to "import" the rocks and it would stand out like a sore thumb because there aren't any rocks in the immediate area. I also contend that by piling up rocks you are merely "burying" the cache above ground anyway so what is the difference between the two methods of camoflage? Happy caching to all! iQueMan - Minden, Nevada
  5. Thanks for the explanatin Elias. Is there any way you can post a log on message to the geocaching.com site that lets users know they may experience some problems due to heavy usage and suggest that they wait to log their entries until weekdays while this loading problem gets resolved? I'm afraid many new users won't come to the forums for an explanation of what is going on and will get upset and walk away from their newly found hobby of geo-caching. Anything to help with communications would be a giant step forward for everyone. I am a new geo-cacher myself and am just now getting into the hobby. I'm envious of those of you who have thousands of finds. But, someday, I hope to be at that level myself. Thanks for a wonderful pasttime! iQueman...
