  1. I looked at the thread, and you are right - there is way more to the story. I apologize if I may have offended or upset anyone - and it is not a personal issue for me. I thank gc.com for thanking the others for coming up with the good idea. It is too bad you can't borrow, beg, or steal (legally) the muggle concept and icon in respect for 9key. Kind of like tipping your hat to him and saying, "thanks for your input on this concept - here's one for you!" It's a cool woord, definition, and etc. Keep up the good work everyone! Have fun geocaching! thewaterman
  2. Hello Jeremy! I am on a huge learning curve, only been in the hobby/sport for almost a year. I did stumble across 9key's attribute list (texas geocaching) while looking at other cache listings, and immediately started to use it. They were very nice and added our local geocaching group to their listing so people could have a link to go to our group. When I saw this new feature, I e-mailed 9key to say thanks and see if he could make some additions to his service. He replied and told me that he is not going to update the attributes because of what you did. He also added that he was upset with GC.com because they - wait - let me quote him - "I've discontinued development on the tool since gc.com is using my stuff without permission. Kinda pissed me off." Is this true? Why didn't you ask for permission? I noticed that you said thanks to him at the bottom of the page, but did you not ask him for permission to use it? Don't you think you should have? I'd like to hear from you directly. Please e-mail me at attribute@thewaterman.com
  3. I would like to announce that we are forming a group of geocachers in the Billings area. We have only 15 caches in the immediate area - we expect this to grow 33% by our next meeting. If you would like to join our group, please do so - wo would love to get some help - both from members that can join us, and members that can guide us via e-mail and hints, clues, tips, and other thoughts about how to make our group fun! We hope you will come and see how we are using yahoogroups to kick off our group. Join us at the domain name we recently purchased: www.bgcg.info and say hello! What does bgcg stand for? Billings GeoCaching Group See you outside!!
