  1. I don't know if we need our own forum, but I think an event is a good idea. Even if it's just a few drinks in a pub in town. I'm in Camden, so I think that's a good place to meet. I will track this topic with interest..... Mike.
  2. I usually get my PQs in a few minutes. You need to make sure you tick the day that you are doing the query - So, if you do a one-off Pocket Query on a Tuesday, you need to tick the Tuesday box. Mike.
  3. Would anyone be interested in an Event Cache in Central or North London? I live in Camden so central and north are convenient for me!
  4. Hi. I've only been caching for a couple of months, and I can understand what you mean. When alone, I'm worried that someone out of view is watching me or when there are people around they think I'm a weirdo, but I just get one with the hunt and try not to think about it. If anyone DOES come up to me and questions what i'm doing, then I politely tell them it's none of their business - as long as I'm not on private land. A security guard came and asked what I was looking for while I was searching for a micro in the City last week. I just told him I'd dropped my pen, and he walked off. I also do a lot of caching with my girlfriend, and it is MUCH easier to do with 2 or more people. One can keep an eye out while the other searches, or cuddling etc can disguise a good feel around for micros. Taking my dog out for a walk is very helpful. A person with a dog is a lot less likely to arouse any suspicions, in parks, streets, paths or fields etc, than a person on their own. To help with your uneasy feelings in urban areas, I have a couple of suggestions: a map will make you look like a lost tourist; a small packed lunch will give you a reason to be sat in a particular place for a while, as will a newspaper, magazine or book. And yes, I think the feeling of unease is part and parcel to a point - especially the feeling of triumph once you've retrieved then replaced a cache with people around you none the wiser.
  5. Hi. I bought a Garmin iQue 3600 recently and was amazed at the price difference between here and the US. I'd have to pay about £550-580 here, but I got a friend to buy me one in the US (as she was coming over to the UK soon after) and it cost me £244!! The only downside is that I had to buy the European City Select software for it (it comes with the iQue if bought in Europe), but that only cost me another £80! It's $300 but each copy can be registered twice so I went Dutch with a friend and we paid 50/50. If Bush manages to stay in power, there is ONE benefit at least - the US$ will remain weak, and possibly get weaker, so buying things from the US will be even cheaper for us foreigners!! But we'll have to watch our backs.....who knows who he'll be attacking next!
  6. I live in central London so it would be no trouble to temporarily adopt these caches - it'd also be good practice for me for when I finally get round to making my own caches! Let me know what to do, and worry no more. Well....not much, anyway! Mike
  7. Hi. What dates will they need to be maintained from and to? Mike.
  8. Cara's College Cache has plenty of room for TB's!
  9. I'm a motorcycle courier based in central London, but it gets me out all over the country. Buying a GPS unit was 50% for work and 50% for pleasure - then a friend (who doesn't geocache or even have a GPSr) introduced me to Geocaching a month ago. Introduced my girlfriend to it a couple of weeks ago, and now I never hear anything about not really having needed to buy my new toy (Garmin iQue3600)! Even gives me a look if i've gone and found a chache without her! Might have to get her her own little Geko or something!
  10. I was going to check the Hyde, Green and St James' Park caches soon - would be cool to make a day of it when you're down. I live in central London so would be easy to meet up......and the pub idea sounds good too! - Mike.
