  1. No script running, as far as I’m aware unless defaulted in settings. I cropped the pictures trying to show how much I need to zoom in just to be able to read the text. It’s normally when I go to edit a log when I get multiple boxes to choose from, but also in the screen previous too.
  2. Is it possible to change the text colour of certain buttons when using the web version on a mobile. For instance, if I need to edit a log I go to the web version and edit, but then have to zoom right in to be able to read the black text behind a navy blue box. Even making the text White on the blue background would be better than two dark colours as there’s little contrast between them.
  3. I appreciate this is one option, in the same way I could just look at my phone and see where they are too, but to see them at a glance on the PC would be so much easier and less hassle. I should add that this is especially more so for those AL's with a bonus mystery connected to it as you can see the connection to it too. I may look at a map on my pc and see there might only be a couple of mystery caches in that area, but on closer inspection discover that those mysteries are the bonus's of AL's, which may make that location more worth while visiting.
  4. Adventure Labs are only visible via an app and not on website which can make planning routes a lot harder. Why can they not at least be visible on the website so that users could plan their day from the comfort of a PC screen rather than a mobile device? I appreciate you can't access them from the comfort of your home but just seeing where they are would help decide where to go caching for a day.
  5. I just tried this and the cross-hair button appears to jump to the location where the network server is, rather than my actual location.
  6. Here's a novel solution, how about drilling the tree and pegging the birdhouse in place with wooden dowels. I'm sure somebody will tell me this is totally inappropriate and will still damage the tree, but it's just a thought.
  7. Seriously? Geocaching is about finding the cache, signing the log, and logging on-line. I always carry a pen with me. That means that I always geocache with a pocket to put the pen in. If one logs: "Found cache but did not have a pen." Then the requirements to log the cache have not been met. What if your pen ran out of ink? No excuses, you make some form of distinguishing mark, and then mention it in your online log. I've had people signing the logbook in blood, muddy sticks, burnt matches, the list goes on as there is always something around that can be used.
  8. I have to admit that I don't visit the forums very often but I did read the whole of this thread. Can I suggest that next time a souvenir is likely to be given automatically for something, you also give the recipient the choice whether they want to accept it. That way there would be no need for this type of thing in the future as those not wanting them will just say no. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to add a pop-up box for an ADD or REJECT option "before" giving something to somebody that then gets hidden.
  9. One of the bug bears I have always had with the app is that the date I log a find is never correct if I log first thing in the morning. It is still linked to the wrong time zone so shows up as the day before the actual find. There is still no option to change it before submitting a log, so I guess I'll just have to go back and edit afterwards. As I tend to find one or two FTF's, the log sometimes appears before the reviewers published log.
  10. Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to have a link to the maps directly from your home page. Whenever I log in, generally the first thing I want to do is look at the local map to see where new caches are actually located. But, to do this I have to select 'Your Profile' and then click an icon that is hidden halfway down the page. Having a map from the dropdown shortcuts at the top of the page would be so much easier.
  11. Sounds like the one at my event where the logbook was reported as full by the fist group that appeared back in the room looking disapointed they hadn't got the FTF honours. One up for the reviewers
  12. Just to add a spanner to the works, I'm a FTFer and have 56 so far which equates to about 10% of my finds. My issue is that I only have one arm and I do sometimes have difficulty opening the cache container so I would be unable to sign the log. Although this has only happened to me on a cache that has previously been found, I would not claim a FTF straight away if I couldn't open the container. I would however take a photo to prove that I did actually find it and ask the owners permission to log a find. If it ever happens that I believe I am the FTF on a cache that I couldn't open, I would get clarification from the CO as to whether anybody else has signed the log before my find. If not then I would claim a FTF and not in the way it was done to you. In summary, you are the true FTF
  13. Not everyone had raffle tickets, (certainly the Lackey's didn't) so I couldn't base the numbers on that Fortunately, I tried to take that into account and only counted those as 1 That’s how it was supposed to be, otherwise a family of 4 under one caching name had 4x the chance of winning a prize. Whereas as lone cacher was at a disadvantage, which I felt was unfair. Sorry, but I didn’t take note of the six winners. If you look through each of the logs there are comments on winning a prize. Either that or the fact they were molested by Muddy legs (lol).
  14. Quite hard to tell from the logbook but it looks like just over 100, maybe 103
  15. I was totally overwhelmed at the amount of attendees to my first event, let alone the members from Groundspeak HQ turning up as well. I had a fabulous day both meeting cachers I’d only read about in logbooks and meeting so many of the people that makes this game what it is. I’m not sure what I can do for an encore to this but you can be sure it will be almost impossible for me to better this one.
  16. This event was originally only going to be arranged as a chance for a certain Scottish reviewer to meet up with some local cachers. I was informed that maybe they would be bringing a few friends along, but now they are appearing from all over the place. I'm only glad I chose the Longwall as the location because at least I believe it should hopefully be big enough to cope!
  17. I have just had a very unusual experience with a 'possible' FTF this morning, here's the story: A new cache appears by email at 22:52 last night (09/07/09) after being published by the reviewer. It wasn't until this morning before heading off to work that I checked to see where it was and whether I could go for it in time. At 05:30 this morning (10/07/09) I arrived at the site and found it no problem. Then I opened the container to see that there was already a log present, but dated 28/06/09 which coincidentaly was the date that the cache was set. There is no mention that it is a 'special' cache and as I was the first to find the cache after the published date I feel I should claim the FTF. Am I justified in what I've done?
