  1. What I'd Pay for in an API is the ability to update my GSAK Database directly from the GC.Com site. I have a few GSAK DBs that are for routes/freeways that I frequent. I'd like to be able to keep the DB Current without having to figure out which PQ I ran to get all of the different Caches. It would be nice if I could just tell GSAK to update the DB in the background with the current logs, etc. It just sucks to have to keep reimporting the GPX files into the DB and updating it in a manual fashion. Seems like you should jsut be able to click UPDATE and GSAK just goes out and updates the Caches in its DB. My 2 Cents... Thanks, Scooter!
  2. New Feature Request... Though I think this would also requre some help and support from the main Geocaching.com Website. I have a pretty good Database of the Caches in my area and along the routs that I frequent. There are 4000 or so caches in the DB. To get those 4000 caches I need several Pocket Queries (9+) to get the caches. It would be nice to have GSAK be able to directly query GeoCaching.Com to update the Database. It would be a matter od making the Geocaching.com site be a UDDI Provider and have a WDSL for the access to the XML GPX files that it already produces for the caches. Then have GSAK make the call to the WSDL Interface and update the caches on the fly... I'd be willing to help write the interface on eithe/both sides to help make it happen. It jsut sucls to have to keep reimporting the GPX files into the DB and updating it in a manual fashion. Seems like you should jsut be able to click UPDATE and GSAK just goes out and updates the Caches in its DB. Thanks, Scott<-
  3. Yes, that is the one. Thanks for the Tip on reading it Criminal. I remembered it from last time. He just chose to use a white font. (-; Thanks Again! Scott<-
  4. I remember seeing a post about strange and unusual caches and someone posted a link to a cache that was back east and in swamp. There was a whole murder mystery surrounding the cache. The Cache itself was a disembodied head? Does anyone know what the GC# for the cache is. I wanted to show it to someone... Thanks, Scott<-
  5. Not sure If I'm being lazy or?? (-; I jsut dont want to have to think before I go Caching. I just want to go places and if I happen to be near caches give them a look see. I take the data from the Queries and import them into GSAK and Map Point. And from there I Export the Map to my PDA and a big DB of all the merged GPX files to GPXSonar, so I have a Map and the details of all the caches on my PDA. I use GSAK to filter out the caches I dont want on the Map and PDA GPX file. I have my Closest 495 on my GPS, and use the other 5 for the ones that I'm not in the 495 Cache Radius. Now if I only had a Serial Cable for my PDA to GPS I'd be all set.. (-; The Finding Caches along a route is where its at, though the only bummer part about the whole thing is you cant export the 'Near By Places' from S&T to match up with the Waypoints in GSAK (or watcher, etc) you have to manually select the ones that Match... )-; Scott<-
  6. Wondering what others use to get the optimal pocket queries for their area? I'm using Map Point and drawing Radius circles and then entering in the center point into Pocket Queries and making sure the radius I chose was less then 400 (room to grow) So far with the 5 Queries I've done it looks like this: I was jsut going to work my way up and down and see where it got me. What do you all do to get the best queries for your area? If anyone wants the Center Points and Radii of my Circles let me know. Thanks, Scott<-
  7. Thanks, Upgrading to 3.03 fixed it!! Scooter!
  8. I have a Garmin GPSIII and I'm trying to get the name of the Cache transferred to the comment of the Waypoint. No Matter what I enter for the Comment in the GPS:Send Waypoint function, I always get '3' (No Quotes) in the comment field. Is where something I'm doing wrong?? thanks, Scott<-

  10. Top of the thread: New Feature: added the ability to export cache waypoints as MS Pocket Street&Trips Push Pins. In other words, yes. That works. Maybe I said it wrong. I have the PushPins in Pocket Streets (via Map Point and GSAK). I'd like to be able to go from either PocketStreets or GPXSonar to the other and have them linked. So if I'm in Pocket Streets. I want to tap a pushpin and have it open up the Waypoint in GPXSonar. Or if in GPXSonar, select a menu and have it open Pocket Streets and take me to the Puishpin for that waypoint. thanks, Scott<-
  11. my version of gpsbabel is: (this came with GSAK) GPSBabel Version 1.2.3_beta04092004. When I list the help (-h) my version shows: <...snip...> saplus Delorme Street Atlas Plus s_and_t Microsoft Streets and Trips 2002/2003 nima NIMA/GNIS Geographic Names File <...snip...> Its not alphabetical so I missed it the first few times too... Though I agree with the other poster who says to use GSAK, it s much more intuitive, You open a new file, import your GPX file, then select file: Export:MS Streets & Trips... Good luck... Scott<-
  12. I'm not a big (directly speaking) gpsbabel user, though Its part of the GSAK which I do use. I believe that the Syntax for S&T would be: gpsbabel -i gpx -f bigbear.gpx -o s_and_t -F bigbear.psp To get simple help on gpsbabel Tyep: gpsbabel -h Basically it needs to know 4 things. Input type & file name, Output type and file name. The Help screen will give you choices of the differnt types that you can use fore the input and output. I did a test on a DB in GSAK and then with gpababel and they came up with a bit dfferent file sizes. they contained the same number if items and the data seemed to be the same... Didn't do much else to see why they might have been different.
  13. I've been wanting to do the samething for quite some time. I never actually set out to do it, though your directions make it much easier to get a feel for what I wanted to accomplish. I have MS Map Point 2004 and not S&T. How did you get the Cool Zipcode/City Radius Circles?? Thanks for the tips! Scott<-
  14. I use Pocket Streets. Is there a way to bring up a Map in Pocket Streets? Curently in Pocket Streets I have the URL from the website, anyway I can link it into GPXSonar with the Waypoint ID to pull up the info? Great App! Thanks! Scott<-
  15. Hardware: Garmin GPS III ViewSonic v37 PPC Software: PC: GSAK MapPoint PPC: GPXSonar PocketStreets I can take the GPX files from the web queries and load them into GSAK and then up/downlaod from the GPS Unit. I can also Export from GSAK to Map Point. Import the file into MapPoint and get Maps of all the Cache locations with the Waypoint name for the PushPin name. From there I can Export the Map and the PushPins to PocketStreets on my PPC. On the PPC I can use GPXSonar to load the same GPX file and view all the Data from the website. (Waypoint, Details, Hints, Logs, etc). Now if I could only get the URLs from Pocket Streets to map over to the data in GPXSonar I'd be all set! Scott<-
  16. I thought it was too, though whenI zoom in, the circle is usually bigger then the screen @ 120 ft. Though EPE shows 15ft... on the 120 zoom, that should be a pretty small circle... Thanks,
  17. Dug out my old Garmin GPS III, Its been a while since I've used it. Whats the Circle in the Map View? Is it the EPE radius? Thanks, Scott<-
