  1. Depends on your gps. Smart Phones for instance often time are off. Our etrex legend is usually off. So I wouldn't trust the compass.
  2. Is the building of Babylonian design and does the prophecy foretell of Judah being taken into captivity by the Babylonians. Does the scale show that the weight of one's heart should be greater then a feather or something of that? Like they should turn from their sins and turn to the Lord? I am not sure on the scale side.
  3. Are we allowed to add to previous posts? Does this verse point forward to the work and gospel of the Messiah, that is, Jesus Christ?
  4. Thanks so much for the great answer and I am looking forward to your coin!
  5. Thanks for the replies. I would like more opinions, but thanks for adding yours. So many "views" and so few answers. Looks like I have some browsing of the forum to do.
  6. Just hollow out our etrex legend! The thing is indestructible (though not that functional as a gps). One can spike it on a rock and no harm will come of it!
  7. And while I'm at it, time to update my list. Birnam Oak Geocoin FisnJack Geocoin Caching in Muscle Cars- Mustang Geocoin Fox and Geese Geocoin Mirpets Tree Geocoin There are actually four editions of this coin. Sunburst Nature Walk Geocoin
  8. I most likely will get to cross off the Smokey Bear Geocoin and Travel Gnome geocoin. I am in the middle of purchasing! I am excited to finally get them! Been looking at those coins for three years! Are you still looking for the Mirpets tree coin? I'm not into trading or collecting anymore, so if you are willing to purchase, please let me know. Sweet! PM on the way.
  9. Though this has probably been talked about many a time, I had some specific questions I wanted answers to. As I thought over the process of making my own geocoin, I was trying to think about my options. 1) If I were to make a personal geocoin, would there be much of a market for it (assuming that I do a good job designing), or are personal coins less desirable if they say a cacher's nickname across it? I would want to sell most of the coins, not just trade them (though I would trade Artist's Editions) but I want to know what will sell. 2) If I do not do a personal coin, but design a coin, are some topics such as dogs or compass rose style coins too overdone/ will people not buy them? 3) How important is a custom icon? I see them and enjoy them, but they are quite expensive. Do people not like a coin as well if it does not have an icon? 4) What do you think is the "ideal range" for number of editions. I see some coins that have 20 - 40 editions (which I personally think is too much) and others have only 1. When making and selling a coin, do people tend to buy the whole set if you make 2 - 5 (or a certain #) of editions, and just buy their favorites if there are too many? Minting coins is a spendy process, and I want to do my first one right. I have been a coin admirer for quite awhile and really want to make my own. I think I have it narrowed down to what mints I would go to for minting. Thanks for any answers.
  10. Hiding and finding and posting from Hennepin County!
  11. Second what Pup Patrol said! That is one of the best ways to get to know cachers in your area. I also see that there is a geocachers association for all of Ontario that you could look into.
  12. Will the hamsters power the medieval torture devices also?
  13. The only problem with that comes when someone resells a coin. If that sheet of paper is lost, then the coin is no longer activateable.
  14. I was shocked to read Droo's post that said that "no virtual logs" wasn't in the handbook. I went and read through it myself and I didn't find anything directly saying that one couldn't virtually log. This page says that a coin owner shouldn't post their coin online, but nothing directly about guessing codes! Most of the private websites I went to said that "Groundspeak frowns upon virtual logging", but I don't know where it says that rules wise. Almost all of the rules I saw on this were directed towards the coin owners. Any of the moderators have any suggestions or comments?
  15. It looks like people have been deleting logs. It is down to 1230 instead of 1236.
  16. {Sigh of relief} None of the coins he activated were mine. Not liking how this looks!
  17. Well I guess with a smartphone a cache owner atleast gets: "TFTC This cache was logged from cacher's smart phone on **/**/**** using the caching app"
  18. There was a cache like that in Minnesota. A family member of mine did it in -20 degree weather and got soaked (bad idea!) The cache was archived because the city apparently has a rule about "climbing in and playing in Storm Sewers".
  19. Just make sure the people you are introducing yourself to are geocachers. We went up and introduced ourselves an mnfishnutz and Troutonthebrain (our geocaching names) to a guy who was wandering through the woods with a gps on this trail in our area. Turns out he was surveying the trail to write a book about it. Boy did he look at us like we hit our heads!
  20. I have so many Travel Bugs who's adventures I have enjoyed! Here are some of my favorites: • Holland Bound Clog * Somehow this TB has 10000 miles on it and it hasn't even come close to making a jump across the pond. My mission for it was to go to Holland, but, alas, it was not to be. It screwed up on geography class or something. HBC went from Minnesota to Texas, then back to Minnesota to go to Iowa, then back to Minnesota (It is not time to come home yet little bug! ) to then go to Illinois, and then surprise, surprise, surprise it went down to Texas again! Then he toured the SE U.S. slowly heading east (Holland?) traveling to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. Then it came north to Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and then back to Texas again. Does this TB realize that there is another side of the Ocean! I should have made this TB's goal to "visit all 50 states, and it wants to visit Minnesota 5 times and Texas 5 times individually!" And now Holland Bound Clog has moved up to Pennsylvania. It hasn't gone anywhere near Holland, but it has had great travels. • Spread the Word-By Car * This TB made me grateful that TB owners do not receive 'dipped in" logs by emails! One cacher dipped it in 316 caches, which made it a pain to count up how many miles were put on by that person. This Tb was placed in the world's oldest active cache, Mingo, which I thought was cool. Later in its life it traveled to Groundspeak HQ, and then it went missing from HQ. Ah well, it was fun to watch. • Jeg ønsker å gå til Norge geocoin * I apologies for most likely butchering the Norwegian on this coin. This was one of my favorites. Its travels lasted only three months but it was very successful. I placed it in a cache to then be picked up by a friend, who moved it a couple miles. It was then picked up by a man from Belgium, who brought it home with him to Belgium. Then a Czech man picked it up and gave it to a Swede. The Swede gave it to another Swede who brought it close to the border. Then a couple more Swedes moved it and one gave it to a Norwegian who brought it to Norway. Within three months it made the hop, skip, and a jump across the pond. Now getting to come home is another matter. It went missing shortly after. It is really special watching TBs. They bring so much joy when they move, and so much sadness when they die. Oh well! Will have fun reading other people's stories.
  21. Anyone figure out yet to make a cache resistant to say 30 million degrees Fahrenheit so we can send one to the sun? "You are receiving this email because you are the owner of this listing. Location: The Sun AstroCacher found Is it hot in here? - Troutonthebrain (Traditional Cache) at 6/7/2012 Log Date: 6/7/2012 Good to see a cache all the way out here. Log book was slightly singed. I tried to log with my smart phone but it was not getting any service. Visit this log entry at the below address: http://coord.info/GLTHESUN Visit Is it hot in here? - Troutonthebrain http://coord.info/GC4ASUN Profile for AstroCacher http://coord.info/THESUN" My Second question is earthcaches on the moon. If we were to put an earthcache on the moon wouldn't it therefore be a "moon" cache instead. Would we need a second organization. Now who says Geocaching is just a cheap little hobby!
  22. Speaking of which, I just did the same thing. Not only is the cache 300 miles or more from home (so I can't go see the code) the trackable owner may have fallen off the planet. Someone will grab it, I hope...
  23. There are also Timberwolf's personal geocoin but they are old too. The top one was made around 2007 maybe (give or take a year) and the bottom one was made more recently and may still be available (possibly).
