  1. I'm with DEC the Dave the Brave on this one. Cache and Camp you hardy souls may be, but I see no reason why a preference for my duck down duvet should otherwise impinge on a good day out. A logged cache surely must not rely on where the weary lay their heads. Of course if there were a night cache .... but then you wouldn't expect me to sleep on it - the cache that is.
  2. We have exchanged emails once in a while and I do believe we have chatted on a phone as well. You have evidenced an incredible dedication to geekism. I do know the reason for the RUBBER GLOVES. But when are you going to run out - by my accounting that's 2500 pairs!!!
  3. This discussion came up a few years ago. Then there were not a vast number of caches and it seemed reasonable to have about 10% of your stats allocated to your own caches. Well the times they are a changing. In terms of totals set I am now at less than 5% of the 800 caches found and the proportion will fall further. Some areas are cache saturated and you do every one a favour by NOT adding to the dross of caches unless its a cracking location, glorious multi or sly sly puzzle. Candidly (and its very much a private view), I prefer one good cache in a lovely spot to a dozen nanos on city high streets or parish rubbish dumps. So there are a few near me I will not even bother with. Good cache setting is a different art to cache finding, and not everyone has it, so I have no problems in those that dont mix one with the other.
  4. Yep - so do I: aaaaaargh Actually all those caches up in that area were NOT particularly nice, clever or well located caches and we went to the locations and then didnt bother. It happens. Sometimes cache setters think they are being clever etc but they are mistaken. (and yes - I've made similar mistakes in the past) As for the more general security issue, play by the GAGB rules and all will be well. My own views on our current 'police surveillance state' are probably unprintable in a family friendly forum but then I'm an old fashioned 1960s libertarian who believes that freedom is inherently dangerous.
  5. I just went caving! What a brilliant link! I've saved it as a favourite and will return when I've more time, warmer clothes and a hot drink - Thanks, Dave! Mrs B Superb - I did 10 years of caving in South Wales and had forgotten all this. Now I wander what's happened to Jackie who only ever wore the bottom half of her wet suit in OFD: her claim was that we couldnt see her topless in the dark. (perhaps the top half didnt fit ). Strangely I have just been emailed from NZ by my caving partner and CRO from all those years ago inviting me to try it in South Island. We nearly lost our lives in LNRC when we got trapped in a flooded sumped passage. I remember taking one large last gulp of air and swimming underwater in the hope that I had the strength to make it into where I gussed there might be air: there was! I then sat for 20 mins waiting for Brian to summon up the courage to do the same: he had the chart. Anyway thanks for this link - I spent many happy weekends in OFD.
  6. Log from german geocacher How to keep the numbers up in Deutschland .... one of my caches in France is logged as found even though his log admits he didnt. I've emailed him and asked him to change it. How long should I give him before I delete the log?? Answers on a postage stamp please.
  7. ours will be on their way soon - anyone want a whisper as to where??
  8. Peter just vanished Perhaps he had been Muggled So I recorded a DNF Then I read that He needed Maintenance And had been Temporarily Archived Perhaps next time You Should be a Nano And tell everyone to Bring their own forum
  9. just to remind - UK postcodes are only resolving to the three first characters and not (as before) all 6 or 7 characters. Annoying but till its resolved - livable with.
  10. My post code is TW9 4AS: the Hide and Seek works but only resolves to the TW9 part of the post code. More work needed I fear.
  11. I always thought MrsB was quackers - arse over tit when tipped into water

  13. caches re-done - all's well - KF
  14. Just when you thought there was nothing new under the sun, along comes PICLENS for FF3 and IE7. Just imagine how wonderful it would be to view your own (or anyone else's) geo-gallery in PICLENS. For PICLENS to work the website needs to be PICLENS enabled - so here's the plea ..... GET GC.COM PICLENS ENABLED PLEASE If you would like to support this plea to GC.COM - add your name and comment below.
  15. Someone at GC.COM has left the USB unplugged again!
  16. Wadders - I'm sorry, hang in there. We both have views on the prefects who have got the key to the tuckbox. My only difference to you is that my need to pig out on the tucker is obviously greater than yours ....
  17. There is one famous cache in the Berkshire area, (is it still active?), that actually took you to an open grave under a rhodo bush in a public park. I am happy to record that one didnt need to be interred to disintere the cache. Who does one apply to for permission to use an open grave?
  18. oh dear from dave the rave to dave the brave then dave the grave save dave
  19. No more bragging about FTFs without asking permission either? Looks like the dreadful summer weather has eaten into the soul of GC.COM (Eaten into my soul as well - I got rained out of Richmond Park yesterday before I could finish the puzzle)
  20. How did you get away? There was a time when dinosaurs walked the earth and you and I were both in just double digit caches and about equal. You have a truck load of young kids, mine have flown the nest. You have a social life that makes Barabara Cartland's life seem just grey - I warm my slippers by the fire. You keep 1001 scrabble games on the go. I have diffriculty reading the screen. But somehow you are on 1500 and I'm just about to scrape 750. So the only thing I can offer you is bare faced cheek and full frontal congratulations xxxx
