  1. I'm fairly new to this and I've only just started my collection so there are lots that I would like, but the one I REALLY want it a Geosmurfz coin. I've had the nickname Smurf since I was 7 and I was so excited to find there was ANY coin with a Smurf on it. However I have only seen one on ebay and unfortunately I missed it, so gutted. I've scoured the net for another one but I can't find one for sale anywhere
  2. ooh I can't wait to see what colours folks are going to come up with this time around
  3. I'm looking for any geosmurfz coins, anything mayan related and anything with wolves. Please contact me if you have any of these, cheers
  4. ooh some good ideas there, I'm thinking of doing an event later in the year and that info will probably come in handy cheers
  5. Ooh these are so cute! will you be selling any of them? I would really like one but I'm a bit of a noob and don't have much to trade...I don't have any personal coins done yet
  6. Gorgeous! This is one of the best thing about geocaching, I've found some really nice places with some unusual flora and fauna. Great photos and thanks for sharing
  7. Ok, so I'm going on a trip for one day and I've found a puzzle cache near my destination. I'd like to try something different so I had a look at it, and I'm stumped. There is a set of co-ords but I assume that is too obvious, then there is a logo and nothing else. No clues, no info, nothing, I honestly don't know where to start. Is is something to do with the logo? Any help would be appreciated, some idea of what direction my brain should be going in would be great, the cache is: [removed by moderator]
  8. Why didn't you post this two weeks ago. Man, the work and dust you would have save me is immense. Okay, next trail I will have the video camera at the ready. I know. Just were do you draw the line. There is a place that offers glider rides near me. If I take a video camera with me I'm sure I could get "photos" of hundreds, if not thousands, of cache locations. It sounds crazy but then I thought, and still do, that signing the outside of a cache container on a cache run or dropping "replacement" caches was a crazy idea. I'm sorry, I'm new here too, and I just don't get your point at all. The OP took a photo of the actual cache container meaning he had obviously been to the co-ords, searched and found it. The fact that the inner has been muggled or whatever doesn't detract from the fact that he played the game properly. To liken his actions to hiring a glider and taking photos of general areas is ridiculous. I'm interested, what would YOU have done in his situation?
  9. Ok thanks, I think if I got one of these I would ask in the profile that there always bee a tag left in it, however I don't know what percentage of cachers actually read the profiles of trackables, I've seen many instances of owner asking for photos of places that trackable has travelled or even the mission itself being completely ignored... I guess it is risk we have to take, along with them going missing...
  10. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, so mods feel free to move it to the correct place if needed. I've recently retrieved a geocoin from a cache that carries a pathtag in it on a magnet. I was the FTF to this cache and the pathtag is one from the owner. I have looked at the trackable page for the coin and there is not much info on there. My question is this - Should I leave the pathtag of the owner in place or can I exchange it with one of my own or one from my collection, before I send it on? what is the general etiquette regarding these type of coins? I've seen a few of them and thought about getting one to place in one of my own caches along with a FTF pathtag. However I'm worried that the FTF will take the pathtag and not replace it with another, leaving the coin looking not very pretty.... any thoughts?
  11. ooh I so want one of these.... Really love the AE version, it's gorgeous. Maybe I'll be able to find one, one day. In the meantime I might have to get whatever I can Great design.
  12. Hi, I've not done this sort of thing before but I'd love to be involved... Pets name and type: Charlie is a Yorkshire terrier. He was rescued from a house with 96, yes not a typo, other dogs, so we don't know how old he is. We think he is around 9. He does not really understand toys, and squeeky toys scare him, but he loves his treats and comes with us on a lot of our caching missions. Name sent: 5-18-12 Name received: Mission Sent: Mission Received: Charlie likes all kinds of coins but especially those with animals on them, or Pirates - he thinks he's Johnny Depp!!
  13. Hi, I've not done this before but I'd be interested in doing an event for Andalucia, Spain. Love the 12 sided idea too....
  14. Hi, I'm very interested in a batch of these cuties. Email sent via GC
  15. What is your favorite kind of swag? Anything handmade or signature items. I also like fridge magnets and badges. If you are in country other than where you live, I always think it is nice to find some momento of that place, such as a postcard, fridge magnet, keyring etc What is your least favorite kind of swag? broken toys, rusty items etc Did you ever find a piece of swag that made you MAD? I live in southern Spain and we have LOTS of fires every year that damage vast areas of land, some are started by accident, some are started by carelessness, and I HATE finding cigarette lighters in caches. Even though it is against the guidelines I find a lot of them and it drives me mad, I am a smoker, so this isn't an anti-smoker rant, but I would never leave a lighter in cache. Did you ever find a piece od swag that made you really happy? I've found items in caches that I know I have left in caches somewhere else. It is nice to see even my swag travelling around What is the most unusually piece of swag you ever found? I found a small, handmade, dried flower arrangement in a cache once, that was nice. Anything you want say about swag. I make my own signature items, well all our caching group does and we share what we have made. We make bookmarks, magnets, bracelets, keyrings and phone charms. here is some of our work:
  16. Great thread, I'm fairly new to this but I took the time to read the site thoroughly before I did my first cache. I started by buying small items like keyrings, stickers, fridge magnets for our local bazzar shops, we have lots of these in Spain. Cost per item was between 50c and 2 euros. I have since started making my own swag items such as bookmarks, phone charms, bracelets etc which I leave as signature items and I try and leave something for adults and something for children. (if anyone is interested, you can see my handmade swag here:Team Fat Dog link If the cache is pretty empty I will often leave 5 or 6 items without taking anything, so the next cacher has a nice surprise rather than a big box of nothing. I tend to have little caching collections, my caching bag has badges on it that I have collected from caches and I have around 5 bracelets on my wrist from caches too. If there is nothing that I find interesting I won't take anything and I always trade up. If I find a cache, as I often do, which is full of broken silly bands, rusty hair clips or worse, beer bottle tops and stones, I will empty the rubbish and try to leave something nice for the next person. I'm also amazed at how often I find lighters in caches, they should always be removed as they are not exactly child friendly.
  17. I also have a geokret that needed logging and I was also having trouble with the site a few days ago, however, now it seems to be up and running again, so it might be worth another try?
  18. I went on the pathtags website as I had seen some of their tags for sale and thought they were cool. However when I got to the site I got the impression that they weren't really trackable like the travel bug dog tags, as far as I could see they were more like signature items that could only be logged once, did I get the wrong end of the stick there? On a different note, there is a website called <removed by moderator> where you can make your own trackables. They are onyl trackable on that site and not on geocaching but it seems pretty good if you are reluctant to spend money. (just for the record me and my team have only recently become cachers and we have 8 official Groundspeak TB between the 4 of us, so I'm not one of the ones who don't want to spend, but I do think it is a good alternative, especially if you want to send out a few trackables, maybe for each of your kids etc). However I do think the costs for the convenience of using official TB's is fair, and it does give back and help support the hobby we all love....
  19. aha at least I know how now, even if I still don't get the "why" of it. I've blurred the numbers in the photos and I've also deleted the logs, which does take the number OFF the persons trackables logged count. I will not help people cheat thanks for the info and the help
  20. Me and the rest of my team have registered a few TB's recently and have noticed people logging them as "discovered" even if they have not been placed in a cache yet and are still in our possession. The comments are usually something like "discovered online" or "in gallery". I presume the purpose of this is to add to the numbers of trackables logged in their profiles, but I just don't see the point. Surely geocaching is about going out and discovering new places and items IN CACHES, not just sitting at home on a computer going though users galleries? Has anyone else noticed this? Also have I missed something that would make more sense of this?
