  1. Wouldn't you know it... tomorrow's event calls for thunderstorms.
  2. Pitiful. Which unfound cache within 25 minutes? Absolutely pitiful. You should have found all those by now. My wife sent me driving 40 miles away to hit 500. She didn't want to be in the 400's so close to 500 any more. One of my favorites. If your friends say "Let's go to Cracker Barrel" and you say, "Naw, already found it."... you might be a wee bit addicted.
  3. I have read logs where T/B's have been taken and not identified. Mark Martin could be among them. As of 9:15 P.M. E.S.T., he was not spotted in the T/B stop. Of course, then again all NASCAR bugs are no longer in there. (I had to go as I got off work past Agent K's bedtime.)
  4. All bugs that were actually in the starting cache are now on the road. If your bug is still listed in about 1 hour... well... you may be a bit off course.
  5. One other note. It is also common practice to "anchor" a coin or bug at a cache to reflect true mileage. We have done this with a few bugs using one of our very nearby caches. Sometimes the bug never actually goes in the container.
  6. C'mon, son - I know you're tired and hungry, and we've been searching under rocks in the desert all morning, but I'm sure it's here somewhere. Your teachers probably won't even notice that you're three hours late for school ... Homeschooling is such fun... especially geography lessons.
  7. Oh its easy. If you have a bug in the race, you come down and grab it and drop it off in S.C.. Also, to correct a statement on the site, Agent K is only grabbing bugs that haven't moved... i.e. the Daytona T/B hotel. The ones that she put in Palm Coast have moved, and so are moving. Any bugs not grabbed at the event will be placed in a new cache she is starting at her event.
  8. Well, I guess I should jump in here. I do own 1 T/B hotel and my daughter also owns one. Both are in this thread as examples. Also both are easily accesible with one being in a sea of micros (our micros no less) and the other being in an area of micros and high terrain regs. I think the problems being discussed can be solved quite easily by something called "cache maintainence". If you own a lodge and some guests become squatters, it behooves you to kick them out. The ones in our cache that relates to Fly46's race we have promised to evict by the end of this month. Another way of keeping things moving is using your own hotel. If you collect a bug, drop it in your lodge and grab one from there to send on in its place (preferably the one that's been around the longest). We haven't done such with our lodge yet since it has only been around for a little over a month, but we plan on doing so as time goes on so nothing gets stuck there. (This is particularly tough with ours as it started with 40+ bugs.) Another way to keep bugs moving is to do what Agent K did. She took 5 bugs from ours, ran 'em up to Palm Coast, FL and started her own lodge.
  9. Well at least he's in the northbound lane (snicker-snicker)
  10. Sorry we couldn't get pics up. We don't have file attachment capabilities on this site. Here comes more good news on getting this race started. The breakers are coming. We hope they move some of the bugs north. And the "don't fret" news. Agent K's plan is to take any bugs that haven't left the gate to her event on March 26th. People are coming from as far as Wis. to go to her event. (Ok, they were coming to Fl anyway, but they changed their schedule to go to her event.) So, all bugs will leave the gate by the end of this month. (Why'd I say yes to letting her host an event?) Actually she's planned a great event for a 7 y.o..
  11. As a matter of fact.. I had, but I did. I almost took a pic of one of the final candidates for the cache... about 50 ft from Speedway property, but since this was an important cache, I left it with the now measured .12 mi from the speedway. The pics will be posted as soon as the wife gets home. She's the one who knows how to work this camera.
  12. While I'm out today, I'll try to get some pics of your starting cache and place it in perspective of the speedway. I would take some bugs with me but all my next caching trips are south. But then again, some of these bugs need company
  13. It appears the cache is going to be hit a bit during this bike week, so hopefully a decent number of bugs will depart the state. We have about 6 people already recording hits down here. Who knows how many are waiting to get home. Go bugs go! Btw... I'm going island caching next week. How many and who should I strand out there???
  14. Don't worry, the hospital isn't too far away. It's within a 1/4 of track property too. (biiiiiig track) And yes... you might need it And while you're down here.... check out some of NEFGA's meaner work.... "The Federation Must Pay" by Paintfiction, Agent K's "AKFP#9: We're gonna rock on through Electric Avenue" our "You've got to be kidding" (a simple 5 stage multi that takes you through 4 different counties and at least 150 miles driving... unless you take the shortcut...)... I assure you... there are caches down here you couldn't use stealth if your life depended on it. (2 weeks ago I had to open a security camera to get to a cache and get to the log and sign it) The T/B lodge is quite mild for down here. Everyone needs to come to GW3. You might even get to see one of your bugs there. I'm contemplating gathering any that are still in the area then to bring them up.... and no, that is not the suprise. The suprise is Agent K's.
  15. Gee, this looks like an interesting race. Shame my 7 y.o. daughter seems to be the only cacher in the Daytona area that knows which direction is north. Just a little update... we have allowed a refind rule to try to get these bugs moving. A cacher can relog our cache as a find if AND ONLY IF they move a NASCAR 2005 T/B along. Also, I noticed that there is no Atlanta track yet. May I recommend "Fast Cache". It has a very close proximity to AMS. Agent K and I hit it last summer and it is sufficient to hold a decent number of bugs... albeit not a full 40 like we did right here. I figure at least 30,000-40,000 muggles walked by the cache we planted during speedweeks and didn't notice it at all. If y'all knew how close the cache was to both the track, and to civilization, especially with the size, y'all might've had a heart attack. It was an honor to start the race for y'all. If y'all want to know the reason Agent K picked the 5 she did, she loves Junior, and therefore took all the E's, she loves the M&M car, and Patty Moise was a girl. Then she used the bugs to start a T/B lodge further north. See what it takes to win? P.S. Agent K is also the cacher with the suprise....
