  1. Hi all, just embarking on me first hide, it is a easy one and just a dash and cache type. I have noticed many people have good looking descriptions etc. Is there set templates somewhere or is it just their own simple HTML coding? Any further tips would be gratefully appreciated. Biff0r
  2. I think it was because GPS icons had changed, and GSAK was set to both on symbols. Also found that I had to power cycle the GPS60 on and off otherwise it didn't know the change. I will try again, but today's routes worked ok, check back later. Thanks so far for your help.
  3. where would one find this option? Tried uninstall and reinstall but it recalls settings, will regedit i think) Be nice to know how I messed up for future reference. Tried to reset but still no joy Any tips? Looked at given links but cant see nothing that would aid me. thanks again
  4. cheers guys you ahve saved the day, thought it may have been something to do with the icons
  5. I have created a fair few PQ's and have exceeded the 1000 that my Garmin GPS60 can handle. Decided to delete the waypoints on the GPS and have a more designed PQ for my home location and parents locations. Since then any PQ i have opened up and sent to GPS only shows in way point not geocache. It worked a few days ago, have tried all sorts but no joy, (can send individuals via search and show as Geocache). I have tried searching via forums but hard to find when keywords need to be 4 characters plus. One thing I have noticed is that the icons are airports icon. I also tried for first time set a route up but didn't work that well (my lack of knowledge really). Anyone ideas? I am sure GSAK when I opened up database and sent to GPS it was logged in the geocache field. Thanks in advance.
  6. Looks like my exact story, apart from I got a Nokia 5800 Think my friends and relatives are going to lynch me, but over 2 weeks I have got another 4 people into the sport/hobby
  7. that's where I got info from initially - good job
  8. Got PQ from here, loaded into GSAK and converted to tomtom format and now on my TomtTom, makes driving there easier but al;so removes some of the fun and trying to find place to park etc.
  9. Anyone used Fugawi maps? Friend got some he may let me have
  10. And there's me living in Banbury Been finding your caches No way! I'm from Bodicote and Messe's up the road in Banbury, his cache's are BRILLIANT. I've just reactivated a little series of three in bodicote actually, there's five or six around there hint hint Give us a shout if you're around Actually live in Twyford between Adderbury and Kings Sutton, tried JACAD 1 today and failed, going to do the 3 0r 4 in Bodicote over the week and enjoy a beer, and also The Riverbank (one of yours if I recall?)
  11. Hi fairly new to the sport/hobby, first few caches straight forward down towpaths next to canals etc. A few I have done have made me do a little more planning using a combination of google earth, GSAK to work out where to park and official footpaths. I have also map source which is a very basic mapping program, looked into getting more maps but cant really see option for this, using a Garmin GPS60 at present. Lucky enough most caches looking for are near my home location so know how to get to area. I have a OS map (physical paper) one 1:25 000 which is good for a fair few caches, but soon I will have to venture out my comfort zone to hunt the caches outside of known area. May be a costly hobby to buy maps for all areas I may be visiting. I have also joined a premium member and downloaded all caches with 35 mile radius, and converted to tomtom poi files for my tomtom. This works but crude method, I am ex-military and always used route cards etc, hoping there may be a modern digital way of doing this. I current have at my disposal, Nokia 5800 (GPS and timble software), Ipaq pda and blue tooth gps (using cachemate at present to help keep costs down on wap downloads), Garmin GPS60 main GPS, even though the nokia 5800 has come in handy a fair few times. Upgrade of GPS? Different software for plotting routes? (map source I am sure can do this but the mapping view is very crude) Thanks in advance Biff0r

  15. Isn't it rubbish after all the searching on these forums and spending many hours looking at different equipment and ways and spending a load of cash on my new found 'addiction' I come across this post Bought a GPS even though I got a Nokia 5800 which works a treat, now just got a PDA and using cachemate and other apps to make life easier when out in the elements. TBH should of bought a top of the range fella and would of broke even by now With my job driving around UK I should be able to polish off a fair few caches on my journeys. I have created own POI for TomTom and also created pocket queries on my pda so should be able to work out where and how on the move with ease and no paper work. I only been doing it over a week now and it was only by chance, friend done in past and got my hooked once I knew my mobile phone had GPS capabilities. I think the info is out there but so many variants it gets confusing for the people at entry level. Really wished I didn't get this Garmin GPPS60 now and got something beefy. Luckily my brother in law got the bug and went out looking without any gps/compass and rang me up and helped him find it on my mobile 100 miles away But you can't beat on hand experience with someone who knows a bit. Luck enough to have over 100 caches within 5-8 miles distance from home.
  16. I did look at glossory but only listed a small amount This make sense now. Ex-Muggler I feel good now
  17. Used my O2 Nokia 5800 to find my first 2 caches so far I like it, been advised to get a primary GPS device as the 5800 isn't as robust as a stand alone device. But the tremble software makes all the difference and so far enjoy my new found hobby. O2 have a policy that will only charge you a max 0.97p per day per data use, which inst bad for a day out, or get data free package, but the data it downloads isn't much at all. Also point out as the 5800 is touch screen not all the functions are there, ie enter cords manually, but as mine is on my wireless networks Ic an download majority of data before setting off etc.
