  1. Ok, I got the Garmin 60CSX in hand. I downloaded 2 caches near my house from this website (figured that out Now do I just go to the area, click FIND and GEOCACHE and select the cache I want and press GO TO? Is it that simple to get started? Any pointers would be great!
  2. I assume if I am going to use my new 60CSX in any good manner then I need to purchase the Topo 2008 cd. I was thinking of getting the SD card Upper East Coast but then I figured if I want to put in Disney World this year I would need to buy another SD card map for the South. So am I correct in saying that I can just keep downloading maps to my 2GB SD card I have installed with maps that I need at that time?
  3. Do most people use a screen protector?
  4. Hi, I am a newbie and I just sold my Garmin 60CS and bought the 60CSX. I do not do a lot of hiking at all, but I want to start and do some geocaching. What is the best option to carry the Garmin unit so it always receives sat signal? I was going to buy the carabiner clip to clip it to my backpack so it was outside in the open. Any responses would be great and if you have pictures that would even be better. Thanks for helping the new guy!! Great site!
  5. Thank you for your help. I understand about the compass page and the map page to show the arrow. So basically follow the arrow. Will the unit beep once it is close?
  6. Hi, I am a total newbie to geocaching, but not to GPS receivers. I sold my Garmin 60CS today and bought the Garmin 60CSX. Now I want to go find my first cache. Question: Do I just download the coordinates in to GPS and go. How will I know when I am getting close?
  7. Thanks for the quick responses!!!
  8. Can you get an official Geocaching sticker so you can put it on the outside of your .50 ammo can? I can't find one here on the site.
  9. He said they were old batteries from other cache huntings. He just threw them in the bag and they make their way to the bottom. And when the question was asked what is in your bag, he said they are. No big deal...
  10. The 2610 is amazing. It has an internal antenna, touch screen and remote control. Garmin just came out with a new software update and it has implemented some really nice features. It is by far much better than the SPIII in my opinion. The 2620 that just came out is basically the same unit as the 2610 but with the map software for the U.S. and metro Canada already pre-loaded.
  11. I have contacted the people directly on the board and they have explained it to me.
  12. No, the people said they carry dead batteries for a reason, not like they forgot to take out batteries from the pack from a prior cache hunt.
  13. I am curious why people take in the day packs dead batteries? What is that for?
  14. So what form of the four listed do I use to get the coordinates? I want them for 5619 Reisterstown Road Baltimore, MD 21215 The Garmin 60CS does use the Deg / Min / Sec as the default format correct?
  15. If I have an address where can I go on the web and find the coordinates. Will it put it in Deg / Min / Sec format? That is the standard for a Garmin 60CS correct?
  16. So I read all about logging it into the site and getting it approved. My only last question I have is do I just stand where the cache is and mark it as a waypoint and use the coordinates as the ones I enter in the website form? I saw where someone said they go back and forth 10 times, is that correct? What would be the purpose of that, arent the coordinates you get the first time okay to use? Thanks for being patient with me. Just want to do it right the first time.
  17. I have a new 60CS and I want to use it to hide a cache. I have a good place for it. My question is where and how do I log it onto this site so people in Maryland can find it? I know it has been said 100 times here but what is good to put in it and what type of book do you use for a log book? Should it have specific columns or questions or fill in the blank forms? Please help ,thanks!
  18. I see it now thanks, but how can I find it without going to your link if I want to tell someone where it is. Is it on the first page, where I still cant find it?
  19. Is there a place (sorry if there is one and I am overlooking it) that I can put in my zipcode like the geocaching page and see where benchmarks are in my area. I live in Maryland. Thanks!
  20. I for some reason didnt see it, but now I do, THANKS!
  21. www.maporam.com brings up something about webpages?? It came up with : Lat: 39.349162 39:20:56.983N Lon: -076.692136 76:41:31.690W Which set of numbers do I put into my 60CS? I see the N and W but how do you enter in the rest?
  22. I wanted to go to a store in Hagerstown MD this past weekend and it wasnt in my City Navigator, I was using my Gamrin 2610. I saw the other day that people said stores like Bass Pro Shop and REI list their coordinates. I looked up the stores and none of them gave coordinates. How can you find the coordinates or can you?
  23. On my Garmin 60CS once the satellites lock on in the bar graph what does it mean when the letter "D" shows up in the bottom of the bars?
  24. Is that the same as WGS84? or what is that?
