  1. Ok I'll admit it am a disaster, several months ago I was in good health and took on thirteen caches of a fellow cacher who was moving house. Since then I have had a nasty fall and dislocated my coxxy and broken two bones in my back , whilst treating this the docters discovered extremely high blood pressure and a heart condition. The result of this is that I'm no longer able to care for my caches. Three of the original thirteen were adopted by another cacher after I put them up for adoption but its been so long I've forgotten how I did it and I now have another cacher willing to take the remaining caches. could somebody please tell this thick head of mine how I go about sending the adoption forms, thank you
  2. I was looking at my profile today and it says I have 161 caches/events to my name, but I have kept a log at home of all the caches and events I have done and attended and it says I have now logged 173 caches/events . could somebody tell me why there is this difference as I'm aiming towards my second special hundred trip (something my daughter, husband and I do). I'm no longer sure whats correct and I dont want to miss out on a special trip .
  3. As im a girlguide leader I was going to use that as my user name but it had already gone , so had my pack name bumble bee so I jumbled them up and became bumbleguide . Now my husband White-tiger has joined me and so has my daughter Glowfaize and I have to make up a team name which is short but includes all our names , any ideas.
  4. I'll admit i went after a cache that stated it was a stones throw away from the co-ordinates, many people had climbed over a fence into private property, pushing the fence down but I chickened out . I logged a dnf and the owner sent me an email to explain it wasn't over the fence and it was in fact a rock cache near to the co-ordinates . he went to the cache site and discovered others had been entering the private property and damaging the surrounding fence in their searching, he has changed the wording for his cache now . so please even if you want a high difficulty rating use your words with care .
  5. I cache on my own regularly, i've never been bothered by anybody ,but then again I'm not the sort of person you notice I look like the back end of a bus and Im just as wide . however I am an ex army nurse and when caching I use a treking pole which can be used as an effective weapon and I know exactly were to hit to cause maximum damage so I can get away , I'm now looking for a long term geocaching buddy as two ladies are tougher than one .
  6. I had planned to do swinley woods but couldn't download, lovely fellow cachers helped me out with these details and I was ready to go . As I was going out the door white-tiger says wait till tomorrow and we'll all come and make a day of it ,wasn't sure but I agreed. Big big mistake, got up early and he disappears off to the gym for a couple of hours and comes back saying he's too tired for that geostuff . Now I've got my download done and next saturday morning I'm off at 6am walking to swinley wood for my day out ON MY OWN!!!
  7. my daughter is at school at present but she is a cacher in her own right (she caches under her own name ) and she is only 11 years old. in fact she would think somebody of about 20 as old (at over 40 I'm a relic ) I know of several young cachers in this area and they are all under the age of 16 and cache under their own names .
  8. HI I have started a series "Scout and about" the idea of the series so far, is to highlight Scouting in the local area to me but i would like others to expand it. So far i have only placed 9 caches but there is another with the same name. the idea is that hopefully persons with contacts at their local Scout group put out caches and maintain them, with permission from the group. Normally to be placed just outside the huts grounds, to prevent problems and drawing to much attention. I personally stock the caches with items that could be linked to scouting/Guiding as both movements tend to share buildings. Please feel free to add to this series near to you. Did you know Scouting is the biggest youth movement in the world with nearly 28,000,000 members, but never enough leaders! HI it's actually the centenary of the formation of the girl guides this october and there will be major celebrations throughout the year, I'm in for a busy year as a guide leader but I'll keep time for geocaching so If you needed any help maintaining any caches in this area I'd be happy to help. As a newbie I don't know how to place a cache I'll have to get some help before my unit puts out their cache . fortunately there's an event next week and I can pick the brains of far wiser and more experianced geocachers .
  9. I too am a newbie with only 51 caches to my name , I try to check what tb's are in the caches I'm going to, then I know if I can move them on , most of the time I am then able to take what I can move on if I find the cache . I'm off to an event on monday ,hopefully I will learn lots from the more experienced cachers but I have seen tb's that want to move round america, germany ie own country and they are over here .If we all ignored these tb's they would never get home, all we can do is try to move them closer to a point where somebody might take them home so sometimes common sence is required
  10. HI, I'm a small chubby (not fat) old mum and I'm fairly new to geocaching I've managed to find about 30 easy caches but I wish I had a better idea about what I'm doing . I think I am missing simple caches because I dont know what I should be looking for . I would be grateful if somebody in the wokingham area of berkshire could show me the ropes and give a clue to the clueless. glowfaize might also come along, if she's not on a sleepover ,camping or it's raining or too long a walk - kids!
  11. I've just started geocaching and the most important item in my bag is my gardening gloves, cos before I got them I sliced my hand on hidden glass and had nettle stings all over my hands but that's just typical of me. I also carry a set of childrens gardening tools (to hold back long prickly plants without damage), swag, torch (flashlight for the non english ) handheld compass, gps, tissues, wet wipes, whistle and mobile phone. tThe last two items are cos I go out on my own, my family are all stuck to their pc's .
