  1. Hi puter, The link to the paper is a bust now. Do you have a copy of the article?
  2. Oh REALLY!!!!!? Then I must be 12. Cache-On & Be Safe.
  3. Kilted_Cacher has planned an event in Russell, KY again this year on Jan. 29th Geocachers Meet & Greet by Kilted Cacher -GCMHM3 Just wanted to let you all know of another Event planned for the Tri-State area.
  4. Congratulations to bluet on finding #200 today and Happy Birthday!!!! Hey! How about hiding a cache to celebrate in a monumental way????!!!
  5. You plan it and we will come! We always do! I personally would prefer a Sunday event since I always have to work on Saturdays. But I can always try to get there before it's over. But I say 'gitt'er done!'
  6. That picture is just too much!!! I LOVE IT!!!! We, (TheAlabamaRambler, ladebear68, ManInTheWild & QF, redneckgal & here crew), 3 cars full, did that cache in the dark after being stopped by the police. Too Funny! Great picture!
  7. [/b]We had kids, we had adults, & we had adult kids!!! I think the 'marathon/all night/all day/no sleep/we can sleep when we get home' type caching would totally depend on what you know your family can handle!! LadeBear68 kidnapped me from a campground around 2am Saturday morning, took me to her partners in caching (TheAlabamaRambler & moonsilver) and we cached together pretty much til the Fireworks at Riverside in Nashville Sunday night!! Complete Craziness!!! What a blast!!!!!!!
  8. I no longer get a picture on the CacheMaps page. Have I accidentally changed some setting that made this available. If I select IDENTIFY caches & click on where the picture should be , I still get the list on caches I should be seeing, But I have no visual picture. I've tried right clicking on the tiny box in the upper left corner and choosing 'SHOW Picture' but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!!! Thanks.
  9. At the end of each Contest Entry Period (per the schedule above), registered Geocaching Account users will have the opportunity to nominate the “best” Photo and the “best” Essay Are we really going to judge the photos & essays?
  10. Actually MITW, I did request JEEP TBs for WV and/or OH/KY for our non-organized group here in WV. Never received a response back. Does that mean we are not worthy? Chomping at the bit aren't you MITW?!
  11. I now have a new start/home page... JEEP 4x4 TB
  12. Looks like there won't be a visit of the 17 year cicadas in West Virginia unless you live in the Eastern Panhandle. And I was so looking forward to their 'lovely' serenade too!! I have this information from our friendly geocaching entomoogist - bluet. Thanks for the info bluet. Guess I'll have to go East or North to see some this time around. Brood X free WV!
  13. LOL You all are great!!! Thanks a bunch. As for how many FTFs...I really haven't kept track of that, but I'll try to let you know at the event tomorrow at Sutton Lake. Hope to see E V E R Y B O D Y there!! Uh Oh, another new cache got approved...gotta go!!!
  14. Not being a watcher of Harry Potter, I have no problem using 'muggles' as a reference to non-geocachers. It's just a convenient term to use. (I did have to ask a fellow geocacher what the heck a muggle was when I first saw it used in an online log! )
  15. Well dang, where and how in the heck did I come up with 9 ? Dazed and confused is all I can say. Sorry. But you are still closing the gap fast. See you in Sutton, #5 .
  16. No WVDan, I'm only counting the WEST VIRGINIA caches. Not out of state caches. You are only 9 "WEST VIRGINIA cache" finds behind mikedx. mikedx has the highest count on "IN STATE" caches. Not total caches found. WEST VIRGINIA caches ONLY!!! []
  17. uh, mikedx, uh, ya better get movin'. WVDan is closing in FAST as the cacher with the MOST West Virginia caches found. uh, he's only 9 away. Just thought you might like to know. Cache-On!!
  18. June 26th. (sigh) Yet another Saturday event. I would love to be there. Lots of caches there that I want to find.[]
  19. HI, I find it less expensive just putting the 'GEOCACHING.COM' cling-on in my rear window. I've had the pleasure of meeting a couple of out of state cachers that way when they see my car in parking lot and stop to chat. Cache-On
  20. Looking Good! Glad to see some interest.
  21. And he's still alive! Way to go Mike!!!
  22. I would like to arrange for West Virginia Geocachers and all interested in this project to give me a commitment promise so I can request a section of highway for us to keep clean. Link for the web site Adopt-A-Highway Program Adopt-A-Highway Rules Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to participate in this program. Adopting groups must clean adopted roads with their own membership and may not subcontract the work. Adopted roads must be two continuous miles long. NOT adoptable are: two separte one-mile sections, one mile on each side of a highway, T-shaped or L-shaped sections. Adoptions are for two years and are renewable. Litter must be picked up at least three times a year, at least 30 days apart and each cleanup must be reported. Adopters must notify the Division of Highways county garage three days prior to each cleanup. All volunteers are required to watch the Adopt-A-Highway Safety Video prior to picking up litter. Safety vests furnished by the state must be worn by all volunteers during cleanups. “Litter Cleanup Ahead” signs must be posted during cleanups. Volunteers are encouraged to recycle items found on roadsides.
  23. Ya'll are going to get me fired if I have to keep requesting Saturdays off so I can attend Geocaching Events! Could we please start planning some things on Sundays in the future? I work 1-5 EVERY Saturday. Not whinning, I really like my job, just putting out some personal info. Now if you can figure out how to have a 'late-nite-in-the-dark' event I would be there with a headlamp and flashlight every time!!!! Also two things I'm working on ...getting a CITO Event planned for EarthDay week-end April 24th (yes I know, yet another Saturday!!) maybe Sutton lake would give us a discout if we clean up the park first? And I would love a show of hands on the forums as to adopting a highway so we can help keep WV Beautiful and get a Geocaching sign on that part of the highway.
  24. Happy! Happy! Joy! Hoy! Oh ye of little faith, hear this. My MIA TB has been placed in another cache TODAY! If I would have just been a bit more patient and had more faith -you might never of had to read this message in the forums. But I still think this might be a good way to get some other TBs out of backpacks and back into the traveling mode. Good Luck to all and let us know what works for you. Thank you Mr.Smith!
