  1. My TBs don't usually have goal sheets, I just don't feel a need for it, either pick it up or not. They may have goals, but they are long-term and not the point really. The journey is much more fun. I agree that it should not be any sort of requirement. After all, some of my favorite bugs have been tiny ones that fit in micros, but a info sheet would be too big.
  2. Parsa, you hit on some of the reasons that I haven't placed anything yet. For one, I need to get resources together, and I want to do something other than gladware, something more durable. And something creative. With my husband to live up to, I would have to make it a good hide. Also, time is a precious commodity for me usually, and especially with the turmoil in our life recently. Death sux. thanks.
  3. very interesting stats Dan-oh, thanks. I have less than 150 finds, so I have plenty of time. *giggle* too bad I don't have more free time and more pain-free time. Flagman, sorry you took everything so badly, I personally think it is OK to talk to people you disagree with. maybe you will change your mind on how you feel about that. Anyone going East anytime soon, like to Vegas or anything, I picked up a bug the other day that could use some Eastward adventure. I could always drop it off at the feste, even if I don't stay. Also, I would love to see some more San Diego input on This Thread, as I know there are a ton of Great caches in San Diego, and I haven't been to most of 'em! Let me know. thanks!
  4. A lot of people will too, hence the reminder.
  5. no, it does not make you a cache snob. What is a not good in my opinion is that there is truth in what you say, someone will accuse you and that is not ok. there shouldn't be that accusation in the first place. of course there will be, people will be that way, but in the situation you present, that is where I read the dukkha originating from....not from you
  6. I like the micro - Frogs On Guard, cool location and nifty retrieval. another micro - "END OF THE LINE...." is a great hide, both in the container, and the exposure. Neato keen. a recent new cache (my husband did it) Fish Outta Water! is the newest from our local camo fiend. he is devious, any of his caches are good for inspiration. multis - well, only one that I have done stands out....and well, I am NOT a groupie! Lassie, get help!
  7. heheheheehe.... just 'bout made soda come out my nose again. I wholeheartedly agree. I promise to shut the H$%# up about any types of caches....I made a lame attempt at a dig at someone for being sadistic (his words!!) and well, nm. no matter what, good and bad is all in your head, all what you make of it, all relative. thanks Cracker.
  8. which one is it Nomad?? I couldn't find Katy-Did the first time, and I just knew it had to be there...I was flabbergasted when we went back and my husband got it. I guess I should have been more willing to disturb the spiders....hehehee. and Top of the Stairs made me feel really dumb at the time, not so much now after reading some of the other logs. Also, I tried it without my seeker the first time. frustrating....not for me. My husband has some thing about 'pages' etc....
  9. gonna take like another 20 or so, I'm here for a bit, I deserve some pennance(sp?) I guess.... Bumpity Bump Bump. Hey, what is your favorite pizza? and what can one expect if one attends the feste (note some of us are shy)
  10. bahhhh, don't discuss things unless you already know that everyone agrees. I think that is the lesson. this whole forum is full of flames in disguise. There is less discussion of caching than on posting policy and cutting the posts apart. always the way with forums I suppose. venting done. So, on topic. Micros are NOT always evidence of a lazy cache placer. My husband is a prime example. So, until someone hits every single micro, it is hard to make definitive statements like that. Micros are fun sometimes, and a pain in the butt others. same with every other type of cache did someone mention trading? I can't even start to count the tnlnsl log entries. soooo, tackle that side of the trading issue first, would ya? I don't mind it being small, I have small items that fit in all but the tiniest micros. (and in my area, that is very few) Contribute, there is that word again. Well, people contribute in different ways, and the idea that caches are detrimental, well, I can see how on occasion that might be true, but I don't see any that I can say that about, and I doubt there are that many.
  11. so, now, civil conversation and trying to understand others is not allowed? please explain. edited to add, btw, not embarrassed here. just trying to understand what goes on in people's minds, since they so Totally misunderstood me. edited again to add: I keep reading my last post, and still can't find what was so gosh darn offensive there. PMs go unread, this is a public place, and I was polite. I wasn't any less polite than the sarcasm and other stuff that goes on around here.
  12. Hi Tom, with what you said above, then I am curious why you went so far on the attack with me to say that I don't contribute? I am really sad that my efforts go so completely unnoticed. I may not set caches on a weekly basis, or talk up a storm for hours in here, or go after the harder puzzle caches, but that was no reason to start bombasting me personally. I do help my husband with cache ideas sometimes, and I was actually one of the main reasons geocaching was again allowed in the SDRP. I never said one negative word about a cache in particular. I don't have anything against any particular cache or cacher, except when they attack me and are hypocritical while doing it. I also didn't knock anyones creativity....Where exactly was that, because if you read it that way, you took it completely wrong. PM me though and I can straighten it out so there isn't a misunderstanding. I tried to contribute to a conversation, with my opinion, with disclaimers even. If you can't understand where I am coming from, try PMing me or emailing me, but please don't start insulting me as a member of this community. There is room for every type of cacher, even those who don't place caches. Something that it seemed you had forgotten yesterday until the post I quote. Also, will someone please markwell something that will give me history on the last blair valley event. I was mulling that one over too, as I love blair valley, I really don't feel very welcome anymore, but who knows. I am really curious what happened last time. sorry for a back to back post....didn't want to stay at work longer to wait for someone to post.
  13. I guess I kinda feel the same way you do Duscwe, sometimes, it is just that I am not willing to give up hours of my life for a problem, I did that for a couple years of calculus, on a regular basis. I think that yours is a splendid idea, maybe they could just add the "nudge" they've given to some of the puzzle lovers, as an encrypted hint, or as a hidden link to a website with it... anything but these orphan puzzles that only the maniacal twisted brain that came up with them can solve. that said, maybe I will make one of my own....hmmmm...I might not put it in my name though. Rather I am more likely to collaborate with my husband. after all, I know devanagari script (what sanskrit and Hindi are written in) AND I know tibetan script (what my name is in) any of you up for linguistics type puzzles in different languages and alphabets???? hmmmmm....or a buddhist trivia cache. only thing is, I don't want to make a cache that only 10 people are interested in. Duscwe, you seem to have the bright ideas today. come on, what do you think? should I? I mean Flagman practically slapped me with a glove (btw, a double entendre is when there are actually two meanings in what you said, not when you just meant it different than you said) anyway, time to stop working thank goodness...stubborn database today.
  14. well, at least I got people's attention, and people are talking. that is one small thing I can feel good about right? obviously, I am just lame otherwise. and no matter what I say, no one will ever again believe that I actually enjoy some puzzles. However, don't be surprised If I 'contribute' to a thread about puzzles too. even without a flame proof suit. I think everyone's opinions are important. Oh, edited to add - something about my puzzle mentality won't let me ask for help in solving. I believe if a puzzle is well made and well presented, I shouldn't need extra help to "get it," so I don't ask. maybe that is my bad, oh well.
  15. threw an error at me, sorry for double post! OOPS!
  16. yeah, hi, just to clarify, I am not anti-puzzle, I actually enjoy certain puzzles, I was mainly venting about the over-abundance of enthusiasm lately for the cryptography puzzles and the small number of cachers who seem very interested in them. It was unfair of me to vent in a way that was not entirely clear as to my feelings on the matter, and then someone took it personal, and then, well, you know. sorry for the misunderstandings about my original post. so anyway, please don't lump me in to any labeling. as my husband pointed out, the only consistent is change, and as we all know, the gc trends change all the time. and really, "They're gone?" what is this us vs. them junk? I sure hope that is all just kidding. I guess I have no choice but to take it that way.
  17. hmmm...I am not sure how much load on the gc.com system Buxley's represents. I am sure something reasonable could be worked out. I for one did not see it as competition, it was purely a reference, where I could see a different style map and my whole area at once. I find the gc.com maps great for some uses, but not that particular use. I agree with atlantagirl above! Have TPTB chimed in at all?
  18. Now just stop that you silly people. You made soda come out of my nose! hehehehee I think we should discuss the Nov election actually, it is much safer.
  19. hey nomadvw, just to be accurate, the original observation that no one was trying for kaos was from devhed, the self proclaimed "sadist" who wants you to do just that, go spend all day on a cache. Have a great time. edited to add, go try Sticks and Stones or Y crack if you want more than just a hike as well. edited again to add - oh just an addition on the topic of contribution, how many of the locals have made a concerted effort to buy cool stuff Just to put in caches? not as many as could, from the amounts of tnlnsl log entries. Now, this is an area that is great and adds a lot of fun for family hunters. (granted, I ran out of stuff recently), so I encourage everyone to join in that fun too. You don't have to place a cache to contribute. I highly recommend the Bumble Geocaching Buttons, they are soooo cute.
  20. I guess my reaction to the opinions of those who are long on criticism and short on contribution is, "yeah, whatever...." you define contribution how you want. and where the heck did I criticize, Exactly??? I actually like your kaos cache idea, and I even like some of the puzzles, I just shared my agreement that, yeah, no one is going for kaos, because of the extreme effort now involved. Well, no one except a small group anyhow. you are an odd one. There is no need to take everything so personal. It really comes off bad. your attitude is not a contribution to anything but mud-slinging and bad feelings. geocaching would be better off with more nice people. at least I cito instead of complaining about locations there was that more on your level??? I tried. also, again, go make your own game, where people have to play both sides. Good job alienating people who aren't just like you. I like to seek, not hide. get over it and live your own life. so yeah, whatever, I am not doing your kaos cache anytime soon. oooh. gasp. ouch. and again, "long on criticism"? you are just reading how you like. you are one of the local cachers that I have noticed has a negative opinion to share quite often.
  21. That totally sux. someday there won't be anywhere left.
  22. fraserbourough needs some caches, and aberdeen and dornoch. when we visited my in-laws, we noted the clusters too. We had a blast though! Scotland is sooo beautiful, and I loved kirkwall (didn't hurt that my husband is related to half of Kirkwall ) namaste
  23. FYI - I have the following cards #13 yrium 2 of #18 Nscaler I also have the following UDesignIt series.. #2 B-nic and K-nic #1 Ruscal
