  1. Hello Looking at my list of adventure lab caches that I did made, I have found that some of them does not show up at all when there is accentuated characters in the URL. Looking at my own list https://labs.geocaching.com/logs, I have many links that show up with their description page when I click on any adventure lab that does not contain accentuated characters. examples that works : https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/nations https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/howard examples that did not work : https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/boisé-miner https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/saint-grégoire Just try those links by yourself. It is not working also even when using the inner URL for any of those accentuated URL Example using inner URL for https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/saint-grégoire https://labs.geocaching.com/Adventures/Details/48cb44c2-43f2-432a-8341-64c44f4bac21 Show a black page telling the error ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS Is it something worth to be corrected in a near future ? Regards OpusTerra
  2. Add me to this annoying bug " Chrome still shows "Forbidden" although the profile is view-able in other browsers "
  3. First, let me tell you that I would like to send a message to all but only the geocachers that posted a WILL ATTEND to an event that I am the owner. I thought that using an announcement log type would do the job but it seems to do not that much than a Write Note would do. ie everybody watching the event will get the message. In that message I had to tell attendees some specific access information to the park where the event will occur. I just do not want to inform anybody else! Really thought that this log type would do the job to send an email to just those ones who posted a WILL ATTEND. Btw, I did not find anywhere on the geocaching web site, where they explain the usage and effect of the announcement log type. Where can I get some official info on that ?
  4. Btw, it is not only just when editing the name that it will cause the PQ to disappear from the list of those ready for download. I just changed some dates in the Placed During section and the same bad behavior occured. I really wonder how this new thing work internally! Maybe it also left some orphan files on the server when this happens ...
  5. I was then talking about the name mangling but you are true it happens as well ... Sorry for the mixup ...
  6. Slightly off topic: Did it preserve the spaces in the name or did you end up with "H-Greenvillex"? For me, I noticed that the PQ names I edited were removed any blank spaces within the name. Ex: Quebec NF 01 was automatically re-edited as QuebecNF01. So to get the spaces effect back, I added an underscore char _ in place of the blanks as in Quebec_NF_01 Btw: Seems that this only happen if PQ generates more than 500 wpts ...
  7. As usually, this morning I received some emails telling me that three of my PQs (over 500 wpts) where ready to download from the pocket query page. I am getting used to do this since a couple of weeks but this time it did not worked the normal way ... Clicking on the first of the three did a strange page refresh and the PQ disappeared from the list by itself! I also had a message in red at the top of the page that said that the pocket query was no more available for download but yet it was written that there was still 6 days left before I clicked on it. I did try with the remaining twos and the same behavior happened. Too bad for me. No PQ to download this morning! The only think I can see that could have caused this is that I edited the name of the three PQ in the meantime just before downloading them. If this is the cause well this is a bug because the system should normally work with the PQ GUID not its name. And once a PQ is ready for download it should not disappear if you just edit its name. The bad side effect is that I have lost my 3 PQ scheduled for today. I would like to know if my hypothesis is right about the effect of editing the PQ name but I do not want to lost any more PQs to prove it ... ------------------------------------- (Further reading in the thread, I saw this other topic that seems to be somewhat related to my problem ... http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=250031)
  8. Absolutely None of my 5 Route PQ scheduled for Sunday were received. Ok for the other days ... Sorry for the double posting. Groundspeak forum returned me an error on my first post so I reposted my message)
  9. Absolutely none of my 5 route PQ schedules for Sunday were received. Ok for the other days ...
  10. Since the updates last week this file http://www.Groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1/cache.xsd that is listed as an xsi:schemaLocation in all of the GPX that GC generates is no more available. That cause some XML NameSpace validating code that read the GPX to get a fatal error. Will that file eventually come back ?
  11. Bonjour! Juste une petite note pour vous informer de la publication d'une version francaise du célèbre Fizzy Challenge par Kealia En voici le lien: GC1Z47V - Le Fizzy Challenge du Québec Bon géocaching! Denis aka OpusTerra
  12. Hi! Just to let you know that the very first "french" version of the well acclaimed Fizzy Challenge cache by Kealia has just been published in Quebec! GC1Z47V - Le Fizzy Challenge du Québec Happy Geocaching! Denis aka OpusTerra
  13. This is by far the best method I have used in order to obtain the exact route I want for a Caches along a route PQ ! Thanks a lot pairadice for sharing this information with us.
  14. If this is the normal behavior I think that there is a user interaction problem there. How would you prevent someone to click again on the button when there is no feedback given to him after 10-15 minutes. There should be some form of acknowledgment even if the query is not yet processed just to indicate at least that the request has been taken in charge by the system.
  15. And we are left with an unsolved mystery, right? No idea why it didn't work for you. The only thing I should think about it is that I did not press the button another time(s) after the web page was refreshing without the button being grayed as it has always been before the problem arose a month ago.
  16. Hipp hipp hipp Hourra ! I have received my MyFinds PQ!!! It has been a week after my last try and about a month since the last functional one. But something strange happened after I clicked on the Add To Queue button. First, it took about 30 seconds before it came back from Sending request to geocaching.com. Then, the button was not grayed at all and the date was still the last tried date. I was tempted to press the button again but prevent myself doing so because I had to go to job. I was then quite deceived that it did not worked. Great that I did not push the button again as this noon I had a 8027kb file in my hotmail inbox! Actually the AddToQueue button is grayed and the date is 4/30/2009 4:07:32 AM* which is OK as I requested the PQ this morning around 7:00 AM Eastern Time. Thanks Groundspeak! Now I can say: My Finds Query - is working again !!! Denis
  17. Hi folks Just lurking Ok take the next step and have your friend send a file 10001kb and see what happens. My finds file is a lot smaller but I always get it. D. Problem is that our ISP's does not allows us to send an 10001kb file ! Can you send me one at opusterra_AT_hotmail.com?
  18. Concerning the file size limitation, I just made a check with a friend sending me a file size of 9993Kb to my hotmail.com account and I received it almost immediately.
  19. This morning I have received my 5 regular PQ's but yet no trace of the MyFinds PQ supposely generated yesterday ...
  20. ISP problem ? Well, my GC email account is on hotmail.com and actually nothing is blocked from this URL (or IP adress). Otherwise, I have NO problem receiving any other regular PQ the whole week long on this hotmail account. It is only just the MyFinds PQ that have a problem. I just can't see how my ISP would only block that one. It would be hotmail.com that would block it but it does nothing with all of the other emails that I currently received from GC.COM I just wondering about the file size. My finds are now around 11K+ and I wonder if the file size is becoming an issue. The last MyFinds PQ I did received by March 31 was a zip file of 6764Kb. But I think that the file size limitation on hotmail is around 10Mb. I just read that recently GC.COm sent MyFinds PQ with 5 logs instead of just one. That would increase the resulting file size a lot even if it is zipped.
  21. Cool ! I am quite sure that there is many people like you that did received their MyFinds PQ otherwise it would have been a huge amount of complains ! But I assert that I did not received it in any of my e-mail account nor did I change anything in my configuration in the past weeks that could affect the normal MyFinds behavior.
  22. I ran a "My Finds" query on April 14th and never received it although it says that it was truly generated. I did notify Groundspeak about this in this post This morning (Friday 4/24/2009 around 11:00 AM EST ) I ran another "My Finds" and yet never received it although it says that it has been generated by 4/23/2009 8:00:59 AM PST which is somewhat weird because 23 was yesterday! All of my other regular PQ for Friday April 24 were received and their Last generated PST was marked as April 24. What is happening? Never had any problem with MyFinds PQ since the beginning of its implementation. Now it has been two fail in a row. Will I have to wait again another week just to make another test? I would be very pleased if you could solve this issue. Thanks -Denis aka OpusTerra
  23. All of my standard PQ scheduled for April 14 were well received yesterday. But I am still waiting for the My Finds PQ which shows that it was generated at 4/14/2009 12:41:29 PM
  24. Actually, there is wwide statistics available on some websites concerning found caches per geocachers. Why is there no wwide stats concerning those who install geocaches? I do not know which presentation format these stats would have. But honestly, I believe that these stats should be published once in a while by Groundspeak themselves. After all, it is because of all these installers if geocaching exist. That would be a kind of appreciation of their work by those who rule it.
