  1. What bothers me more is that is sounds like the finder took some good swag and left lots of cheaper swag to equal the value.
  2. Sounds like the Marx brothers! Groundspeak is having a hard enough time adding the pico size (which I consider anything smaller than a bison tube) I don't think the smaller sizes will ever show up here. I think if there was anything smaller than a pico, I would not look for them.
  3. I'v seen one on the side of an outdoor ice machine in front of a grocery store.
  4. I think I would check how long ago the owner was logged into their account. The person asking for the hint may have already e-mailed them, but gotten no response. If the owner has logged in recently, I would suggest telling them you would feel more comfortable with them asking for hints from the owner instead of you. If the owner hasn't logged in for a long time, I would give them a subtle hint.
  5. About the best thing I have found for rolling nano logs is a quilling tool. http://www.amazon.com/Darice-1162-42-Slotted-Quilling-Handle/dp/B001TM03WS/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1330429888&sr=8-11 A local geocacher has been giving them out as prizes at events and everyone that has one loves it.
  6. I haven't tried it, but does a "my finds" PQ show the DNF's?
  7. There is one posted at Geocaching University: http://geocacher-u.com/?page_id=53
  8. It depends a lot on each cache also. If it is in a sensitive area, hints should be pretty explicit so no damage is done to the surrounding area. If they have posted a DNF, I would give them a hint. If they are trying to get FTF, I wouldn't give out any hints. It is pretty much up to each CO how vague the hints are, but like lamoracke said, If you don't get the clue from the CO, you can get one from someone else who has already found it. I don't like the way that works, because as a CO, that would be part of the enjoyment a hiding a cache also. I wouldn't take offense at someone asking for a hint, but if a lot of people start asking for clues to one of my hides, I would have to investigate why it is so hard to find. (Depending on difficulty of course)
  9. Yes, the Delorme does capitalize the first letter you type. But the field note section has the standard TFTC as a selection to add to your field note. Edit spelling
  10. In my opinion, it makes no difference who logged online first, it is the physical logbook that determines the FTF
  11. That is so you can input the coordinates after you solved the puzzle. If you correct the coordinates on the page, it will download into your GPSr with the corrected coordinates. The old way, you would have to change them on your GPSr so you would get to the right spot. For a multi, if you didn't finish the whole thing, you could input the last coords you got to.
  12. Here's one I came across a while back by Slayerette: While out with Goss At the Gorge had to stop by for this one!!!! All I can say is Goss's caching skills are stilll on.... She spotted it before I even parked the car. Man she's annoying sometimes. I made her get out in the rain and bring it back to the car...She paid me back though The cache wasn't all she brought back to the car.. Maaaaan! She needs to stop eating those volcano tacos! Thanks for the cache. And another by Slayerette: So I decide since I'm going to be in the park - I come out here with Foster the Wonder Dog, GeoKnitFit and GeoSammy Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to walk around the pond a couple of times - I should probably get this cache. You know in the interest of saving a buck or $2.50 in gas. Plus, I thought it would be a fun diversion. So I loaded up the Iphone, the GPS and Foster into the car and headed off to pick up our walking buddies. Oh BTW... I didn't tell GeoKnitFit what I was going to do. I didn't tell her till we were over halfway there. She kind of figured it out because she saw the GPS when I pulled it out to see how far we had left and which way to go. So I send her off to see check the lay of the land when we got really close... I had shorts on you see. And we decided to go for it. I am almost at ground zero when I feel something on my head. I swat at it and lean over and there it was... Another Freeeeeeakin' mutant woman eating pumpkin spider trying to crawl back up its web string TO MY HEAD!!!!! I start panicking. a Half a Heart beat later the screaming began. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! (take a quick breath) AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! (take a quick breath) AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! The dogs go ape-nuts. They are crowding me and jumping up to see if I'm OK and all I want to do is get this spider off me. The more I swat at it the faster it tries to crawl up the webstring - Did I mention it was heading TO MY HEAD!!!!! or That I was arachnaphobic. Oh yea I am. I almost peed myself. Seriously. When it finally hit the ground I jumped on it so hard I almost caved in China! I was definitely rattled. But pppppffffffhew... I made it out of that sitch alive. I wasn't too rattled to find the cache though. I looked a way and pretended I was still looking to give GeoKnitFit a chance to find it too. We signed the log and left a pen. It's one I got from the panty factory. A pretty Lily Of France pen. OK not so out of the ordinary, but hey it was my bonus from last year. Ok that's not true. But it sure felt like it. We headed out of the woods - with GKF in the lead... She was making sure there was no more spiders. She didn't have to do that.... But I sure was glad she did. Thanks for the adventure
  13. I think we all know a good answer to this
  14. If you know who they are, and they are local, invite them to an event or take them under you wing and teach them the right way.
  15. I have had the samd problems. On my pop up screen, there are choices for delorme, magellan, and something else (I don't remember the third one). What I do is click on the magellan, then back to the delorme, then it works.
  16. How about a spring clamp. Something like what woodworkers use to clamp pieces together for gluing?
  17. You could probably look them up on cacherstats, but it would be a long drawn out process
  18. A friend of mine just bought some bison tubes, and inside of them were a small screw cap container. I have never bought any, so I don't know if all bison tubes come with them or not.
  19. At the bottom of the page, there is a button to create a pocket quirey. That is the best way I have found. Edit to say that I misunderstood your question. There is already a bookmark list of those 100 caches made. It is listed on the right side of each cache's page.
  20. Oh and if you get a solid white page that is what you are supposed to get. I think I figured it out. Probably more by luck than skill though. Edit to say that I did NOT figure out any coords
  21. Create a new account and do them all over again.
  22. It is possible to do that, but you have to be a premium member. In your case, it would be the easiest for you to just scroll the map along the route you want to take and add the individual caches to your GPSr. I don't know the Goemate Jr very well, so I don't know how many caches it will save. You may have to be choosy on which ones you save.
  23. OMG!! Did you drill that out by yourself? That looks like freaking granite! How? I'm gonna guess either a hammer drill and lots of broken bits or a hammer and a chisel and a LOT of time. I'm leaning more toward blasting caps and TNT. I have access to a core drill...used for drilling holes through concrete. It works fairly well on rocks also.
  24. I've seen this type done before on a smaller scale, but mine holds a peanut butter jar.
