I chose this coin maker because I've seen their work, and I feel their quality is superior to some others I've seen. I may be wrong, but we'll see. As far as epoxy over the gems, they mentioned that but also said that the gems might melt under it, plus bring the price per coin up. Don't think that's a good idea. They said they would check and get back to me on it, but don't know when.

OK..just heard back from coin maker...here's the scoop please let me know how you all feel ASAP so I can get these ordered. First off....they said they were a little concerned about having small gems for eyes...they may fall out over time. The way I see it, they'll be collected and taken care of so it shouldn't really matter. It's only about .30 cents per coin, so that won't affect the price. On to the questions for ya: 1. Keep the stones or just use red epoxy? Also, I designed this coin with many options, which brought the price per coin up. I am only going to have 250 total made up. This will bring the coin price to roughly $10 each. I figure about $2 each added for shipping. 2. Is this too much for a first personal coin? Would you be willing to pay that? I will post a pic of their proof when I get enough feedback to go ahead with this and pay at least the "down payment" for the proof. Until then, I can post my cheesy scanned copy of my doodles to give you an idea. I have made a list of who wants a coin in the order of their posts. If it's a go, I'll post this for the first 100 coins with Paypal instructions. Whadya think? ok..some options: sequencial numbering 001 to 250 diamond cut edged both sides stones/gems 3-4 colors shipping these to me is the kicker....they want $83 just to get them to me.... This is not final yet...I may not have the edge diamond cut put on...

Hope you are talking about a coin with a trackable number on it already. Just getting any 'ol coin to activate can be quite spendy. (Hey, I got a silver dollar I'll sell for $1501!!)

An unactivated travel bug or geocoin is more attractive...they can be the owner or keep it if it's unique. Otherwise, it would be just like finding another TB or GC to move along. Prize=Unactivated in my 2 cents.

OK...I submitted the art to the coin maker, just waiting for a reply. I will probably have 250 made, MAYBE 500 but not likely. These will be wicked cool! It will have a green tribal dragon (Hopefully) on the front with red gem eyes! On the back will be another tribal dragon and will say "Banned in Salem, Ore." History lesson: I am a part of our local geocaching group formerly known as SPGeocachers (Salem Parks Geocachers). After we had a CITO event and cleaned up the drug infested camps at a local city park, we also had a HUGE event (T3...Tips, Trips and Treasures) which brought people from all over the state to our city. Long story short......The parks dept. didn't want us to keep the profits we made for next years event, they wanted it in their account to hold and distribute to the various costs associated with any future events, since we promoted the parks dept. Well, after obtaing the money, they decided we needed a hall pass for ANY geocacher to WALK THE PATHS in the parks! Now, they are threatening us with criminal charges if we place any cache in any city park. SPGeocachers is no longer, we are now S.A.G.A. (Salem Area Geochachers Association). Sooooo.......On the front of the coin will be the coords to the state capitol building in Salem, and on the back it will say "Banned in Salem, Ore." Geocaching originated about 50 miles NNE of here, now it may soon end in Salem altogether. Thats why I choose to make only a limited number of these coins. As it stands, I will make a list of all who replied, in that order, of who wants a coin. I will probably limit it to two coins per person, and sell / preorder no more than 100. Wheather or not this will be a rare coin that collectors want or not isn't the point. It'll just be wicked cool! Off to make the "list". Will keep you informed of the process as I receive the info.

Wow...all the responses! Cool! Well, looks like I will have them made, please be patient with me though. I'm thinking at this point to have 250 made. When it comes down to it, I'll decide how many to sell and for how much (Gotta get the final price when I submit artwork). I would be interested in trades, but only after I get the coins and distribute them amongst everyone who paid for theirs. Still not sure how many I wanna keep for myself, or if I'll put a purchase limit on them. The Emerald Dragon shall come!!!

Just to be clear...I'm WORKING on it. IF I get this done, we're looking at probably three weeks minimum from now before I am able to submit the artwork, etc. I'm just trying to get an idea though....Never done this, so don't know how long the process is. I won't be around a computer (Or electricity for that matter) this next week, so I won't be able to work on it.

I'm working on a personal coin, numbered but not trackable. It will feature a dragon, probably the face colored emerald green. 1.5" in diameter. I have a few thoughts that I still need to finalize, but just wondering who may be interested in it. Thinking of either 100, 200 or 250 produced and numbered sequencially. Any suggestions as far as quanity produced as well as potential buyers??? Would want to do a prepayment to help cover the order. I am going on vacation tomorrow, but will check responses before I leave. Thanx in advance for your input...cache on, dudes! (And dudettes)

That's what I thought but wasn't possitive that's why I wanted to ask those who have more experience in this. Again though, our plans were to have 100 made, keeping a couple for ourselves. Things change though.

Can't seem to get that stinkin circle to stay on the screen....well, at least I can open the program, that's a start.

Wife and I are getting ready to send in artwork for a personal coin. We plan on having them numbered 001 to 100, but not trackable. My question: Since we don't have the "up front" money to have them produced, can we take preorders to get the cash, then if we don't get enough or can't make up the difference, give refunds? How do all you traders feel about this? It is new to us, but really like some of the personal coins we see. Our intensions are to sell about half to be able to order them, keep a couple two or three, then the remainder will be placed in difficult caches and used as FTF prizes. Also, if anyone can show me how to use this darn photoshop program, we can get better art dies made Thanx and as always, happy caching!!

Yes electronic compass. I am used to the button layout on the ST Map, And I know I can get more for the color than an old map. Figure since the color is almost new still, I'd sell that.
