  1. Yeah, can you believe this? He wants a new bike, I convince him it's too much money siting upcoming expenditures. But then my bike, an original piece o'poo I was happy with, breaks down. He goes out and buys TWO recombents to replace it... I'm still trying to figure this logic out! Of course, now he says we have to ride every free moment to get "our" money's worth... <sigh> Someone explain this to me. So, now he will be joining us on the ride. I am trying to think of how I can segue this into wanting a new Jeep. Back to topic: I was talking to someone at work about our upcoming ride and the discussion about food at the end, either a picnic in Easton or an unknown place in Cle Elum. She suggested Cle Elum because of the newly renovated historic railroad station on Milwaukee Road. They've made a little cafe there and it's right on the Iron Horse trail. Depot Cafe renovated by these people Looks like a likely place for someone to place a cache...
  2. The geo-ignorant spouse came home with an early birthday present for me tonight...a PAIR of recombents. Interestingly, one in red and one in blue. Wonder how I will be able to ride 2 at the same time??? Of course now that I have a 29 speed Barcalonger, I say we go all the way to Ellensberg!
  3. Sunnyslope you say..... First, welcome to the neighborhood... and secondly, let me be your guide up on Burch Mtn road so we can help you "relax" after the many hours dealing with contractors and subs...
  4. I will be the only desenting vote and go with the full monty. Cle Elem or bust!!!
  5. I had a blast! Currently at work right now and TRYING not to scratch the 14 VISIBLE mosquito bites on my left arm not to mention all the other ones that are concealed. My patients are becoming concerned ... Here I thought I was not sweet enough to get bitten.... As far as the grassy field, what a great time! TL obsessing about velociraptos and Jester singing an Ode to Scotland. But MA's eyes take the cake! I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I do wish we had gone further and gotten the last 2 caches on the next hill...maybe next time... Thanks to all of my hiking partners for making it such a great day. -R-
  6. < waving her arms in a frantic motion > Aug 5th is the ONLY weekend available to me for the whole summer!!!! That said, plan the event whenever you like, I'll be there in spirit if it happens on another day.
  7. Hmmm...thinking I may beat all of you there after all!
  8. Oh my gosh, I am SO into doing this. Patudles and I were even talking about this recently. I have even convinced the "geo-ignorant spouse" he should do this too and now he's excited. (don't even respond to that carrot ) Now here's the hang-up, summer. You have the weather to contend with as well as vacations. I'm sure we can get some cachers from the Cle Elem/Ellensburg area to help out with this. Would be nice to meet some of our neighbors to the south/southwest. Unfortunately, my schedule for the next month and 1/2 is looking extremely tight and for those of you counting down as I am (you know there is a whole slew of you too), Alicia comes home in 21 days, 3 hours 57 minutes, 38 seconds so I am all "a-twitter"!!!! Just saw M10B's response, thinking he's got a little Valley Girl in him too!
  9. Ok, convinced the geo-ignorant spouse I needed to spend some "me" time if he wanted a happier home life so I'm definately in. What time should I leave if coming from Wenatchee? I'm routing at 2.5 hours but that seems a L O N G time, was thinking more along 1.5 hours. Also, about what time are we thinking we ought to be dragging our sorry butts off the trail? Will it make any sense to drive back home at night?
  10. Hey, are we "dry-sider's" invited? I would love to join you guys IF Nolenater behaves himself and TL brings his hip flask... (now to convince the geo-ignorant spouse I need "me" time... )
  11. Ok, here it is, 1) GlobalGirl gets Alicias room (who comes home in 41 days, 6 hours, 1 minute, 15 seconds). She will share the bathroom with Alex, the teenager whom I will threaten within an inch of his life is he doesn't change the toilet paper roll (nothing new). 2) Ruck and Bunygirl will have the guest bedroom (bathroom of your own). I do not have a fenced yard, but the dog is more than welcome since I am a well known dog fan and have yet to meet a dog that I don't like. Rudy would LOVE to have a friend to play with. Rudy spends a lot of time at the "doggy day care" when we travel so he's very socialized and behaves himself. More than I can say about his owner... (I have been trying to convince my husband that he (the dog, not my husband) needs a friend so this will serve several purposes) Meet you at the Wok? (that would be in Wenatchee NOT San Diego unless you're RecDeiver ) Cell # in the event you need something: 509-741-9079 -R-
  12. Consider yourself no longer an orphan. You can have a choice of where you want to stay. Ambrosia's, or here. I do have 2 extra rooms with beds... (not to mention the bar downstairs in the family room...) I should warn you, I have 2 cats, a dog and a teenager... -R-
  13. Wok About Grill Coords 47 25. 585 120 18. 777 7:00 under my name
  14. She offered... I didn't mean to upset anyone... :) STOP! I can't stand to see a grown man cry. Alright, you can stay with them this time. But I have dibs on your next trip over. -R-
  15. Hi Robin, I am leaving my wife with you. Watcha gonna do if'n I don't pick her back up? Seriously though, are you planning on being at the park the entire time? Watching the future fruit pickers. Just trying to think of something to keep t2a entertained while I'm floating down the river. I will show her how to get the best divorce lawyer the PNW has to offer. After all, I DO COME FROM SoCal where I've learned a few things... I had planned on staying at the park watching the yard apes and setting up the BBQ. But as far as entertaining your wife... I'm thinking my friends Mike, Jack or Henry may be involved . I know Patudles and Ambrosia are planning on taking some photos of the rafts as they "bob" along, she may want to assist in that endeavor if childcare is not her thing.
  16. All41 just did the trip last week and without stopping for caches did it in 2.5 hours. Assuming everyone meets at the proper time (10:00 AM), gets to the put-in by 11:00 and takes 2.5 hours rafting + an hour (or so) for caching/picture posing-taking, I figure you all will wash ashore about 2:30-3:00. For those of you going on the trip and leaving your children with me, remember, if you don't pick them back up, I will sell them as orchard help and keep the profits. If they can't be sold, I will give them espresso and teach them a few choice words to be repeated ad nauseam on the way home... Allanon, you are staying with Ambrosia? Hmph, fine. Hey Birdy(s), need a bunk on Saturday night? I also have another room (vacated by my daughter who will be home in 43 days, 3 hours, 13 minutes and 3 seconds) available for anyone else. LMK -R-
  17. Yeah I figured that after I hit reply ...but was too flippin' lazy to go back and edit. I will run by and grab coords since I plan on running through town tomorrow on errands. Curious how many are coming over the night before. You never know, RecDiver is bringing the better 1/2 right? A romantic Saturday night in Wenatchee at the drive-in movie theater? -R-
  18. Coordinates and time please? Oh puleze, stop batting your eyes at me, I'm already married and we don't live in Utah! I'll redo the Linky thing for the guys who cannot scroll up ... That is unless you are talking about the Wok on Saturday night? Then the answer to that is I hadn't thought that far (no comments). I guess a show of hands so I can make a "reservation"....
  19. BBQ is the same place as the meeting spot of the rafting event, Riverside Park in Cashmere. I swung by it today to check out what will be needed for the event and can see that people may want to bring folding chairs or something on which to place their back ends. We have secured a tent, a grill, and a few newly placed caches. For those of you coming over the night before, perhaps a meeting at the Wok About Grill for some Mongolian food? Robin
  20. With the river as fast as it is, I am expecting the rafters to be back before the BBQ event starts. So those that are going that are not floating should be there early. Also, if you have one of those "easy up" shade tents, feel free to loan it to me... Robin
  21. Post rafting BBQ event is now up. Got any questions...give us a holler. BBQ Event
  22. There will be a BBQ event right after the river rafting. Check back to see when it's posted so you know what to bring for the pot luck. You can leave your dish, keys, kids, money or computers with me when you drop off your car. The BBQ will be at the take out spot. Questions?
  23. I did the river last Monday with Gary (owner of Osprey) and it was AWESOME. It's fast and deep with some of the best holes I've seen in years. This being #11 for me in 3 years, I was impressed with the differences this year from last year. Water was cold (I mean it was snow only an hour before) but it was doable with only the splash jacket. Of course I was with Gary and he's not about to go into the drink himself... Since I've done the river so many times already, there is no need for me to do it again, but I'll be happy to have the coffee (and beer) for when you all get off the boats. -R-
  24. Just name the day, we will be there I'm off work for a few days busying myself around the house so I'm good for M-W.
