  1. Yay!!!! 5K. Holy smokes!!! Congrats!!!!
  2. I'm planning on being there too. I'm waiting on a certain somebody to get back with me on a puzzle cache she's been working on to know which trailhead to hit with a turn around time to get to that event on time. I guess I'm the hold up now. I'll post details tonight. Thwap. I too am hoping to be at the bear event, but depends on having to be at work at 0600 in the morning (hoping to get out of it)...
  3. A Wenatchee event coming up for everyone to enjoy. If you were at the "In like a lion, Out like a lamb" car rally event, you'll have a bit of an upperhand... What: Wenatchee Valley Rally (GC15WQ0- awaiting for approval) Date: October 27th, 2007 Time: Starting at 1 p.m. Where: Walla Walla Point Park in Wenatchee What to bring: Paper map, your GPS, full tank o’gas, sense of adventure. Also, there's a fair number of new caches in the valley and I've ordered sunshine for the weekend. Would be a great time to bring your bike and "do the loop" for all the caches there.

    3 Day Walk

Just home from ANOTHER emotional weekend. Just writing this brings the tears springing forward...again. I didn't walk this time, I crewed as medical. GeoBlank, ask your wife if she visited me in PIT 3? I have to say this was my favorite event to date. Several reasons... After walking by the big pink inflatables that signify a passageway about 3 dozen times, did I notice that my mother and I were on them. What a shock to see myself blown up and 20' high! Secondly, I worked with some of the best guys: I was short staffed so got to boss around some of So. King Counties Finest medics. (have always wanted to do that) Day 3 I worked across Safeco Field on opening day of the Seahawks. (Can you say pandemonium? ) I figured if we put a bucket out front for donations we'd get "something"...we got $300 in 2 hours!!! My mother was in the survivors circle at closing ceremony (no picture, I was too busy crying). All in all, not a bad days work even though I missed HC's birthday party. Mutt, all the best to you and your wife. Just remember, both of you are carried on a sea of pink prayers!!! -R-
  5. Congratulations to CCMin for getting her 1000th AND an FTF to boot at Wild View.
  6. Good? Ha! It's freakin' awesome!
  7. Lizzy has a bookmark for the loop: Cascade Loop by Lizzy
  8. I would have most if it completed if not for the requirement that the caches have to be AFTER 7/1/07.
  9. Hmmm...I believe i'll be in town the 6th-9th....perhaps you can drag her Royal Pepperness over to see me...? You'll have to call and see where I am on the route!!
  10. Not geocaching, but I was shocked when I went into my "other" favorite website... Breast cancer website Tis momma and I at the San Diego walk last year!
  11. What if it's a metal container instead? More seriously, if Rod's last statement is serious, then it would seem to conflict with the earlier bits. That is, if recreation is a legitimate land use, and searching for containers (geocaching) is a recreational activity, then how can geocaching not be a legitimate land use? Of course, if he's kidding, then never mind. I'm just trying to understand what the actual status of geocaching in the area is, since I'll be over there in a couple weeks. This is true, Valley View is an ammo can. I should've pointed that out to him. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. He was totally teasing me. He always takes an opportunity to needle people, in good nature. He figured out that I was talking about geocaching, and wanted to poke me. So. Yes, it's fine to go caching up Burch Mt. Road, as long as the vehicle stays on the road! Just park on the road nearest to the cache and then walk the rest of the way. Have fun! I'll be replacing "7th Heaven" in the next couple days, so there will be a new cache up thataways for people to go to (as well as Robinego's "$500"). Well I'm thinking of changing it's name to the 1.92 million dollar cache after how much they calculated they will charge the kid for starting it... Definately going up tomorrow AM (have the day off finally) and will take a picture of the "plastic puddle" I calla cache container. Yup, it's gone . No plastic left either. Just a spot of ash. Had a moment of tearfulness seeing how barren the area is. Check out the photos on the archived page $500 cache Of course in true geocaching nature, I planted a new one in tribute... the 1.9 Million dollar cache!!

  13. I don't know, maybe I'll give it a try...meanwhile, I planted a cache for you... Is that possible? I've nursed babies and I've nursed a beer, never a knee. Can you show me how you do that...? Yes Brian, go with her. I want to share the angst I live with!!!
  14. Don't I know this. I sit all day, by the phone waiting for her to call. Save me from a day of drudgery (she'll love that word) And boy does she bad mouth my family or what?! Goes by the name of "That Other Woman" on the phone when she calls! Flaunts her freedom in my face she does!
  15. <singing> IT'S GONE...IT'S GONE... <doin' the happy dance> THE BIG UGLY "ROAD CLOSED" SIGN IS GONE...!!!!! On my way home from work tonight I saw an unmarked (believe me, I can point them out, they aren't unmarked that much - I mean, a car with 14 antennas? Give me a break.) Black Suburban <very MIB> coming down from that area. Piqued my interest and whadya know... that big ugly sign was gone! I'm thinking they knew we cachers were talkin' about them and sending them all sorts of stink eye and they figured they didn't want any trouble and knew they better get rid of it. (that or they needed it else where, but I like my theory better) Ok, what were we saying about going up as authorized personnel...? I think I need to do a recon mission tomorrow morning. Maybe, just maybe I'll head up there, all sneaky like and say that I'm looking for surviving wildlife habitat. Help me out, I'm a lousy liar!
  16. Well I have always assumed (say what you will) that 2)e has applied to me being up there during the so called burn ban! (another story at another time!) It's public, I'm staying on the road and simply enjoying the scenery... Who's to say what is legitimate? I have seen cars come and go at all times of night and day, every day of the year! I have never seen the big sign and will confirm with the friend who lives 20' from it. Well, I took that picture up there on Saturday. I see that. In fact, I can see that big ugly sign (ugly because it seems so in my face and I want to go up there) from my kitchen window. I look at it every day to see if it's gone. The point was, that sign on the saw horses is new. They don't put that one up every year. Only the smaller 2'x2' on a pole to the right of the road. Ironically, the red and white barriers are new since they widened the road to keep yahoos from trying to kill themselves then they already do going up there. I'm hoping the TPTB don't plan on leaving that sign up all season. I think we may be saying the same thing, only talking around each other. I'm sorry you had to make the trip up here, I could have told you it was still closed.
  17. Hey, chose your priorities: Husband - naw (to much bother) Kids - naw (they can work out their own problems) Job - naw (Forget that weekend work stuff) gas - car 30 + MPG wear & tear on car - caching - Sure would have been a bunch more fun had you been along though. (I've missed ya) I knew I should have gone into the nunnery!!! Oh wait, there's that whole authority thing then...
  18. I think she needs to slow down a little. Lotsa hazards out there ya know, like grunting bears and sharp rocks in the roads. Maybe oughta do more Wal-Mart parking lot lamp skirt caches. Hmmm.....wonder why he's saying that. Let's check..... Highest Challenge Patudles................49%.....#1 in standings Mr. Gadget #2.......41%.....#2 The Navigatorz......38%.....#3 Fire Lookouts Challenge Patudles................35.......#1 in standings The Navigatorz.......32......#2 Mr. Gadget #2.......29.......#3 I want to know if she's getting frequent flyer miles on all the gas she has to buy! 'Specially if she's driving Bertha! That'a right Tudles, you just go explore the far reaches of the state, I'll stay home alone, knitting...

  20. Yes, congratulations sweetheart...
  21. I FINALLY found the shoes perfect for me! And here I've been wasting my time walking all those miles in shoes that had coils and springs! I probably could have raised MORE money! Hmph!
  22. Just a little bit. I swear, 1996 & 1998 scared the snot out of me...!!!
  23. I couldn't find a map, but here is an aerial photo from Wenatchee looking north. You can see where the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers meet. I seem to recall that Robinego's house is up in that area! I hope they are doing OK. Yep, I emailed her a few days ago and she said they were fine. She's actually on vacation, but their neighborhood was on stand-by evacuation, and her neighbors were taking care of the animals and valuables. All ended well. Ok, I'm back and seeing what has happened... Came to within .12 miles of my house. Fire Retardant overspray on some of my lawn furniture, no biggie!! We were at a mandatory evacuation, or at least my neighbors were since I was busy drinking margaritas on the deck of a houseboat. The cats, my computer CPU, and an antique clock were all I wanted out of the house. I figured the fireproof safe would prove itself. Rudy fortunately had been bitten by a rattler (in the area of the fire incidentally and a whole 'nother story) and was spending time at the vets while we were gone. So moral of the story...do not, I repeat, do not stick yourself on a houseboat with your mother, brother, SIL, teenagers and 2 screaming kids without the luxury of a helicoptor or unlimited alcohol/medication to save your sanity. I swear, even my house burning down couldn't get me off that d-- boat! I will try to go up Monday and see if it's passable and if caches are still available. To those of you who e-mailed/called, Thank you!!! It was very difficult with such spotty reception and after I while I just threw my hands up and figured life goes on and my family as much as they were making me crazy, were all safe with me.
  24. Nice cache page but a stupid location..... Hmm...I wondered about that cache and even put it in my log that I didn't think it belonged.... I figured it should have been removed. Too bad it was by the authorities and has now shone geocaching in a poor light.
  25. I'll be up to my nose in stinky feet 9/7-9/07 for the Seattle 3Day walk so I would appreciate it being on the 22ndso I can recoup.
