  1. Winkie's last log: We found Winkie burned to death in a terrible act of geocaching vandalism in the AEX cache. All we found was the blacked travel bug tag. What a sad end for the well-traveled bug. Jim & Deb

  6. I searched for Wilson Cache..the oldest one in the New Orleans area (or was..if it's still there) I followed a deer trail through the bogs to the cache then decided to try a short cut..every where I went there seemed to be a muddy pond..I went round and round in circles til I couldn't even follow my GPS breadcrumbs..and my batteries were running out..and no spare one..after what seemed like hours..probably 15 or 20 minutes more likely..I finally I found a trail and made it back to the car..From then on I make it a point never to leave the car without an extra set of batteries.

  8. A cacher who did one of my caches recently told me this story. He is a postman and decided to find one that I had placed since it was close to his route. He drove the mailtruck up to the parking area and darted out to get this quikie. On the way back, he notices 2 cop cars parked by his truck...seems that the local police helicopter saw him pull into to the lake and jump out and head quickly toward the cache and had called him in..he got to give the local cops a quick lesson on Geocaching as proof so they'd let him go.
  9. ..of the 48 states..thanks for the info..I'll see if I can find it on the site..
  10. anybody know the long/lat coordinates for the geodetic center at Meades Ranch in Kansas? It's not accessible on the ground but I fly close to it and would like to know it..

  15. see who's planted caches locally and who has found the local ones..beside their geoname is the number that they have found and read their profile..
  16. you might practice marking a few "fake caches" around where you live and then go to waypoints..select one and practice going to them by following the compass/needle on the GPS..then when you get comfortable with that let a friend mark some for you to find...
  17. ..see what others have to say and get an idea what kind of things that are good to put down in the comment..then after going to the page of the one you found..click your cursor on the blue.."log your visit" (top right)..put a dot in the "Found It!" by clicking there..then scroll on down and add some comments..then when yer done Click on the "Click to Log your visit!" at the bottom right.. happy cachin'

  21. Wife loves it.. she even fell at the bottom of a hill last summer doing a cache and broke her ankle.. it slowed her down but most of the time she still wants to navigate. Sometimes she goes to the cache and sometimes she just sits in the truck and waits for me to go find it and works on her crafts..she even got to see a deer walk with in 10 feet of her while she was sitting there waiting on me.
