  1. For myself, that is OK.. read your profile after the Email and realized you were one busy guy! Thanks so much Level_1, you have been a big help!
  2. HI, PMd and Emailed you. Am figuring they are gone, but could you let me know for sure. I'd hate to offer someone a price, and then go buy one from the store, only to have you say "yeah I've still got it and such and such would be fine." LOL Thanks
  3. Awesome book, am reading it now. I just finished with The DaVincie Code, BUT that is OT! HUM, strange mark, find anything else out about it?
  4. OK call me crazy, but do you know I did not even think about hiding in parks. I was just going to ask relatives and use our own land, since most are very scenic and in the "country" without having to use parks.. THANKS for the info though. I've been reading the guidelines and figure I'd wait til I got a few found caches under my belt before I even attempted to leave one!
  5. Thanks to you both! I figured all of this, but being a newbie here (not to online forums though), I didn't want to break any rules or guidelines. I'll go post now! Thanks again.
  6. There is my enabler! Yeah lets try to put on together, maybe two (one for here, one for there) when you come up! The wheels in my head are turning!
  7. I would like to speak to some of the people in the German forum, but have not posted there yet, because it say "German Speaking." My German really stinks. I can understand a little, but can speak even less (although I am learning it). We will be in the Verden/Bremen area sometime this summer for about a month. I am still very new to Geocaching, but would like to find out if there are any caches in this area and speak to some of the German cachers. I think Geocaching in the area would make great day trips to see the unbelievable countryside of Germany (Germany is AWESOME! ). This will be our second trip there as a family, my DHs third, so we know the area a little. So, the newbie question is, can I post in English in that forum, if I need info, or should I attempt to write in German and give them all the best laugh of their day? :D
  8. wimseyguy I was reading about the big bash a few weeks ago. Sounds like it was a blast! The GPS info make perfect sense. I kinda had that feeling, BTW it should be Ford/Chevy/ Ram (which is my preference) LOL! But I understand. I looked at a Garmin Legend (? blue one, not yellow) this past weekend and liked that one, just after I read the many debates I had second thoughts. I was also reading the places the caches were hidden and I can't tell you how many times I have been at the Buddydome, or the Sweps ballfield, Eli Ballfield and even the Sax ballfield! If you are not into this, you just don't know what treasure may be under your feet. We live up on Bass Mtn (hence Bassmount ), which could make for some interesting cache hiding, but I will wait and see how it is done, before I do one. I do want to make sure I do it right and the contents are safe from the elements. I also see you point on a themed cache, which also makes sense. I could do a themed one, but if someone takes and leaves, then it isn't themed anymore.
  9. Thanks for the reply. I did read that forum and there was some discussion in a thread about the best GPS for the terrain or something to that effect. I thought that the people already caching in this area might know the best one for our area or if that even made a difference (actually I think that thread was in the Garage Sale forum now that I think about it). Also I saw a list of cache items suggested, but again would a cache that was area themed be better? I guess I should have expanded on the thoughts that were already out there to let you guys know that I had read the "getting started forum", and those wonderful posts were not going ignored. Just wanted some area specific suggestions and to get to know people in the area. Sometimes the best way to strike up a conversation is to ask questions about things you have in common and the only thing I have in common with people right now is the area I live in. LOL
  10. I saw many caches in my area, I live remarkable close to Cedarock Park. I am very new to all of this. I still need to get a GPS, but I am thinking this would be a wonderful hobby for my family to do together. I think kids these days spend WAY to much time inside, adults for that matter too! Can anyone in this area give me some tips on getting started? What GPS seems to work best in this area? How do we put together a cache to hide here? What are some good cache items? I homeschool my youngest son (at least until this coming school year) and my oldest goes to a local charter school, so I think this would make for either a wonderful field trip for my homeschooled one OR something that we could do as a class for my oldest, as well as something we can do as a family. Anyway, the enthusiasm is high here on our end and I am excited at the prospect of a new family hobby.
