  1. Not so much a cache as a general idea- we've decided for our 1000th to go back to the place we did our first cache... but in our case it helps that the first cache was on an island, and we only managed to find one (aaah, what newbies we were), so there are lots of options to choose from now! Congrats on the milestone Geogamy
  2. The heady days of newbie-dom. I remember when we first started there was an almost indecent obsession with all things trackable- our first actual pick-up was a GC from Ohio... so beautiful, so unexpected! (The first coin we found seemed so valuable we assumed it belonged in the cache. I lie- I was convinced it was the receiver the satellite used to pinpoint the cache location. I thought if we moved it no one would ever find the cache again. I actually argued this to sheldor. And won...) And then the inevitable happens. One sunny weekend we took a couple of trackables to release in Richmond park, and the cache we chose was muggled during routine maintenance. And it's a little hard to forgive yourself, even if it's an unforseen event. So now I only pick them up if I'm about to country/continent hop, or if the cache is obscure and the log hasn't been signed in more than two months. We have a local cache near a marina in London that's really well hidden and a decent size for TBs where we do regular drop-offs. With your TBs- be prepared. They get misplaced, forgotten- and then leap into a flurry of activity and refuse to sit still! It's all part of the fun. My Hoppy is still in the UK after two years, whilst his Cloggy is bouncing round the states. Makes me smile to think of them! Geogamy of G&S
  3. Huzzah to team Geogamy and Sheldor for our 500th cache! And for only bringing two ticks back to the UK from Sweden (so far). But still, 500 in two years feels exciting! And a congrats to everyone on this thread!
  4. Mark, you are an absolute saint! Just tracked down the two- downside to caching as a pair is it turns out both of us like to natter away on the logs! Yet again, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to check for me- if you're ever caching in London send us a pm- we owe you a drink! Amy & Thibaud
  5. Thanks Spraginator! Will give this a whirl tomorrow- with any luck it'll sort out everything Can't wait to feel legitimate again- it feels fraudulent to have our number declare us further than we are... Geogamy
  6. And I like a numpty have just asked this question on a different, completely random thread... Please please please can someone let me know which three I've accidentally doubled? We have 468 finds on 465 unique caches and it breaks my heart every time I see it. Didn't realise you could get multiple smilies on one cache. Still couldn't believe it after doing a test run earlier today and watching the find number jump to 469. Promptly deleted it... (really hoping it is three and not some drunken shambles on one solitary cache) I really want my statistics to mean something, especially as we're looking to hit the big 500 this weekend...
  7. Hi all, I am a rookie, and to a certain extent it is about the numbers with me... I was on my statistics page and to my horror it turns out I have 468 finds on 465 unique caches. I desperately want to delete these extra logs that have accidentally shot me up by three- because when I do find my 500th/1000th/whatever cache, I want it to mean something. Because it does to me... So does anyone know a quick way to work out which three have double logs? I just can't seem to spot them Please don't chastise me on the accidental doubles- they were in error. I assumed originally that the difference was due to event caches which had no physical place, but when I attended my 4th I realised that couldn't be causing the discrepency. 8. We were (casually) caching in Rome and were stopped by a member of the Swiss Guard. Before we even got a chance to explain he told us we were way too far along the Vatican wall and should be looking opposite the trees... adorable!
  9. Hi Everyone, We've just got the premium account on the website, mainly to be able to run the pocket queries. As we live in London, with over 3.000 caches available, it's h*ll doing them all separately and loading caches at 500 a time, really appealed. So I've run a query. Nothing too fancy. just 500 traditional caches, that are active and I haven't found 10 miles from my home coords. This came back with the max of 500 caches (gpx-flie). which I loaded into GSAK, and sent to my GPS (etrex legend). All seemed to go fine. However, When we were out geocaching, we found out that we didn't have all of the caches we should have. We were in a forest which falls into the search criteria, however not all traditional caches were listed. As the map shwoed us that there were caches listed that were further away from our Home, we're wondering why the caches that were closerby aren't loaded in the GPS. I've checked the PQ settings and GSAK, but that all seems fine to us. My question is, has anyone had a similar experience? Will PQ randomly select 500 caches which fall into your criteria without any real reason? Could it be that the PQ 'drops' caches to have the maximum of 500 caches or should I seek my solution somewhere else and admit I did something wrong in the process? Thanks for any thoughts you might have!
