  1. What I find so funny about all of this is 90% of the people writing on this topic have not been bothered by this PT or do they live anywhere near it! And if they spend more time out caching than complaining on this forum post they would not have time to worry about this (world ending PT). Every time I visit the forums all I read is negative comment after negative comment that always makes the hobby/sport look "great" to newbies. SO go ahead and QUOTE what I said here and give my 20 reasons as to why what I said is wrong but I wont have time to come back and see what you said I will be out at the PT grabbing the rest of the caches I did not grab the first day! Remember the reason you started Geocaching to to find caches, so get off the forums quit worrying what others are doing and have fun! Thanks Team Stevecat! we had a blast and will be back very soon to finish up!
  2. Necessary? To me I would have to say yes had one heck of a time yesterday out there! It is definitely a different type of caching but still a challenge none the less! I would say don't knock it till you try it(with the right group of friends)! But I do agree with you on the fact that we don't need one of these on every highway across the country! Will Groundspeak be able to make every person with a GPS'r happy I doubt it.
  3. I was going to create a account over there, but I couldn't get on no matter what I tried. I figure it was for the better! I am staying here, but it will be GREAT fun when you can find 2 caches at the same location and multiple caches under the same light skirt. HMMMM which log to sign? OC OR GC!
  4. To cool I have 5 empty ammo cans, I am going to pursue trying to place a few here in Southern California!
  5. I have 3 souvenir's and the only honest one is the 10/10/10, I am thinking its due to using my I-Phone as a back up GPS'r. When I search for new caches from time to time it takes a minute for the satellites to locate me and at that point it say's im 5,000 miles from where I am at(poor accuracy) . Which I am thinking is why I have souvenirs from other states! They do not show up on my actual profile but they come up on my I-Phone app! Maybe this will help or has anyone else had this problem?
  6. Now they have done it! Why mess with a good thing? They could have added those features to the existing map. Now I have to click the Google Maps button to see caches that are in the same area as the one I am looking at.
  7. I have a Garmin Nuvi that I use for routing, my 60csx(with map updates which is nice for turn by turn) for hiking and most of my caching needs and if I wanna spend way to long at each cache and walk in circles I also have my I-Phone 3GS. And I use my Jeep XJ to get me there!
  8. I always like to hide a cache in a place I myself would like to go. I think geocaching is a way to share cool places you like to visit with other people.
  9. In my local area I see my cache's logged by new people that get 15 finds and quit caching within a month. I do not think we have much to worry about! The way I see it most beginners will go after those micro's in the city before hiking anywhere, so the odds of the micros getting muggled go up and I like those odds!!!!
  10. I agree a nice ammo can loaded with quality swag along a nice hiking trail, or maybe on the top a hill at the end of a Jeep trail, with an awesome view looking out over the desert or where ever you might live.
  11. Well while we do away with containers, we will need to change the name as well since "cache" refers to a storage space which would be a "cache" container. Maybe Geocacheless or Geo-wanderers would be a suitable name's.
  12. I as well use a nuvi 205 for determining which route to take then use my 60csx one I am near GZ or have to hike to a cache! It works well in pedestrian mode
  13. I started caching with a Nuvi 205, but moved quickly to a 60csx but the nuvi got the job done I just switched it to pedestrian mode. I still use it while in car then use 60 once I get out!
  14. I just attended an Geocaching event at the NASA Goldstone facility which is on Ft.Irwin base in Barstow, CA and we had to show Valid I.D they then scanned it and we were on the base drove to the NASA facility and checked in again, but we were on the base property.
  15. I am 26 and love the sport perfect for getting outdoors and away from the T.V
  16. Not above at all all mine abide fine by the rules, I just dont care what other people do in the end like you said earlier its on them(not mine nor your responsibility)
  17. Ok sorry for making everyone mad I am done here, I will go about caching like I have been and just hope everything stays as it is, some happy the way it is and some want to better it( I guess i needed to vent)
  18. AGENTS= people a little to worried by simple things in life I assume? Ok razor blades thats just funny I have never seen it and yah thats completely understandable its unsafe and unhealthy. Peanut butter come on lets be sensible here, I have never placed food in a cache but we know if its done there is no harm in it and if the argument of it brings in animals maybe true but if food in a cache does, then animals already exist in the area prior to the cache placement and your chances of coming across them are the same! And whats with the Aflac if that refers to caches that promote business once again so be it, truthfully whats the problem? You do not have to visit that location because there is a cache placed there and as this world grows my advice is to get use to it there are wal-marts and targets on every corner surrounded my miles and miles of homes so if caching is going to continue then there has to be a placement near a business. And if a buried cache is that bad then I guess a rock pile over a Ammo can is considered buried and maybe we should throw it out in the open and take some coords and call it a cache.
  19. You just said it your self "GUIDELINES" thats it Yah I do do my own thing not live miserably by "GUIDELINES" I abide by the rules that need to be in place yes. I figure next there will be "GUIDELINES" on which side of the hill I should approach the cache from! or do you just "do your own thing" and approach from which side looks like the best hike!
  20. What does unpaid reviewer have to do with any of it? "mischievous child" funny its just sad I have been to a few events and the majority are older people as in not children and I just would think there further into there lives than being tattle tales with nothing else to do thats all I am saying, the "unpaid reviewer" published it so your telling on him as well. I do respect and know rules need to be in place but if you do not like the cache leave walk away and forget it! Why do you really, actually care? Some say "Unfortunately there are people out there who care about this sport" I guess assuming I don't, but look deep into theses forums and you can see this sport falling apart at the seams, Just take your GPS and and crab some caches and forget it!
  21. I want to see it survive not policed by cache tattle tales, you will see you are ruining it for yourself Its going to be virtually impossible to place a cache in the future if you keep sniveling about everything all my caches are in compliance of the not here not there rules. Eventually people reporting or cache policing is going to no fun and discourage people from hiding or even participating in this sport. I guess you need 20,000 caches or have 31,062 posts to count in this sport huh? Its like to kids fighting over a toy telling on each other, eventually someone is going to take it away correct?
  22. What a sad situation I have been caching for about a year now and the more I dig deep into the sport the more I see this sport going down hill in a hurry, if the cache is not up to your standards Dont look for it. Do you really have that much extra time in life to really care that much? The sport is turning from a easygoing pastime to a organized mess such as golf! Why make it so hard to have a little fun?
