Quote from the cache page:"The only reason this cache is listed at a 2/1 is that when one finds the cache they will have to spend a few moments digging in dirt to retrieve the cache and to re-hide it. This one is actually IN the soil!"
Quote from Cache Listing Requirements/Guidelines :"Caches that are buried. If a shovel, trowel or other “pointy” object is used to dig, whether in order to hide or to find the cache, then it is not appropriate."
Looks like a clear case of a broken rule to me.

Why dont you send your question to Contact@Geocaching dot com.
I have never had a reply from them on my Jeep questions. I know I am not the only one they are ignoring.

How About this? Though I might need to change the font to something solid to show up properly at the avitar level.
Jim
Thats AWSOME! But I agree the font may need to be changed.

I would I would like to say again that there are some very creative people here. There have been some great Avatars created here. I have no talent. The best I could come up with is a half USA half Canada flag.
Who are the Wildwoods? We are Mr. Wildwood Mrs. Wildwood & Kidlet (our 14yr old daughter)
Mr. Wildwood is Canadian and has only lived in the USA for 4 years.
Mrs. Wildwood & Kidlet are American
Wild: Because Mr. comes from the Wilds of northern Canada
Woods: Our last name is Wood
We love the outdoors and hiking the trails around here. The wilds of Iowa are not the same as the wilds of Northern Canada. Instead of waking around the corner and coming face to face with a black bear and her cubs, now all we have to worry about is a squirrel with an attitude.
I was thinking more of a mountain landscape background. Mr. lived close to the Rocky Mountains. Mrs. & Mrs. were married on a mountain top. We also love to canoe.

-SNIP-FINALLY I have been able to post the winners of the essays and photos from July through September.
Second, in that same thread, Wildwoods posted soon after the list of winners was published, raising an objection in this post to the number of words in one of the winning essay contest entries. The essay took the form of a song with multiple verses and a repeated refrain. Wildwoods' post in this topic renews the same objection.
-SNIP-
What refrain is repeated ? Each verse is worded differently.
The winning essay:
In the spirit of the forthcoming Halloween season we drafted this up - It may come off a little on the hokey side but we hope it generates a few laughs.
It can be sung to the tune of Monster Mash - hope you are entertained.
Monster Cache
We were following our GPS out late one night
When we came upon an unusual sight
A pile of rocks at the base of a tree
When we looked underneath just what did we see?
We found a cache
We found a monster cache
A monster cache
It was an outdoor smash
Its called geo cache
We caught on in a flash
We found a cache
We found a monster cache
So we logged on the Internet to geo cache dot com
And the whole family got involved and we even brought Mom
We brought along the dogs and the neighbor’s kids too
And we all jumped in our jeep and then what did we do?
We searched for cache
We looked for geo cache
The monster cache
It was an outdoor smash
We found the cache
We found the monster cache
The monster cache
We did the geo cache
The Honey Wolves were having fun
Up and down the trails they would run
We found our first cache in no time
And our day had just begun
We drove through the mountains on to find the next trail
Through the rain and the snow and the sleet and the hail
And we shifted our jeep into four wheel drive
And we know there is no doubt that we are going to arrive
At the cache
At the geo cache
A monster cache
It was an out door smash
We found the cache
We caught on in a flash
We found the cache
We found the geo cache
Now we really must be honest and we do confess
That we never had this fun before our first GPS
And the Honey Wolves just love all the running all around
And the yellow jeep travel bugs that they eventually found
Everything is cool the day went just as we planned
You can play this game anywhere in the land
For you the muggles geo cache can be played too
When you get your next Jeep tell them the Honey Wolves sent you
Then you can cache
Then you can geo cache
A monster cache
And do an out door smash
Then you can cache
You’ll catch on in a flash
Then you can cache
Then you can geo-cache

The Jeep TB contest was a great idea.
Too bad it was poorly run. Updates not made soon enough. Contest winner that clearly broke the posted rules.
Just curious, what specifically are you referring to with this statement?
The wining essay written by THE HONEY WOLVES.
The rules state "Method 2) Complete the official online entry form and submit it, along with an essay of 300 words or less describing your Geocaching experience finding or planting the Jeep 4x4 Travel Bug (the “Essay entry”). Essays over 300 words will be disqualified.
The winning essay has a word count of 425.

That looks great. I like the maple leaf.

Oops.....sorry about that, was trying to incorporate the woods. I used picture that I took when I was in Alberta, Canada a couple of years ago. I know I have some from Grouse Mountain, Emerald Lake, Rogers Pass and more...
I'll work on it in the next couple of days when I get a chance.
Alberta Canada is where Mr. lived most of his life. The mountain where we were married on is near Canmore Alberta. Mount Charles Stewart is just outside the Banff National Parks bouderies.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but you are welcome to use if you wish. Wanted to keep the Canadian/American merger going...
I will keep on my site for 2 weeks, that should be plenty of time for you to be able to save it to your system....

Ok I can't hide it any longer I am a Geocacher. I guess I have always known I was a geocacher. I have always felt like a geocacher trapped in the body of a father/husband/reliable employee.
As a young boy when no one else was around I would wander off into the woods looking for tupperware. Back then we didn't have those fancy GPSR things. We had to find our tupperware the old fashioned way, using the compass out of the Cracker Jacks box. You kids have it so easy these days.
The geocacher lifestyle is not a choice I was born one. I married another geocacher 6 years ago. Our friends and families have accepted our lifestyle, they even join us sometimes.

Give yourself a pat on the back! When you can stump so called "experienced" cachers its a good thing.
I read the posts to your cache no one seems negative. When you start getting post like" I think the owner should check his cords" or "I’m not going to look for this cache again until someone else finds it." or the famous " I know I was in the right spot so I will post it as found"
When you start getting posts like that, take one local cacher to the cache so He/She can confirm that it is there.
Stop giving out more hints! Let them look for a while.

Nice cache. I see you figured out how to post a pic.

Cachers in my area, DesMoines Iowa were getting tired of "park and grab caches". The race to get FTF is also a big deal here. So we started making our caches more and more challenging. Its fun to have to go back to a cache two or three times.
We know that within an hour of a cache being approved there will be cachers hunting it. SO the person who has placed the cache can stand and watch other cachers look for there cache. I watched as four local cachers looked for the cahe containers I posted above. Nobody found them the first time looking.
Some of them had wrong answers to the questions I asked, but even when they had the right answer they were not sure because they could not find my camo cache containers. Here is a link to the two caches Duck, duck........Canada Goose and Duck, duck......Another Canada Goose

Adding a Picture to a Forum Post
1. Your picture must be on the internet somewhere -- not on the hard drive. If you want to share a personal photo, but don't have web space, upload it to a cache log, cache page or your profile page.
2. Copy the URL for the image so that it's in your clipboard.
3. Compose your forum post. When you want to insert the image, click on the IMG button in the top "Code Buttons" section.
4. A dialog box will pop up, prompting you for the URL of the image. Paste the URL from your clipboard into the box (Ctrl-V = paste) and click "OK."
5. Preview your post to make sure it works!
If you are having trouble, try practicing in the test thread that is pinned at the top of the "Getting Started" forum.

FINALLY I have been able to post the winners of the essays and photos from July through September. They're now on the Jeep 4x4 Travel Bug Contest page.
I finally got a chance to look at the winner list. I have a question on the winner of the essay contest written by THE HONEY WOLVES.
Why was this essay not disqualified according to the official rules?
It is a good essay, but are the rules there for some and not others?
-
"Chances are for most people, the best thing they ever found in cache is probably the same best thing they talked about last month, and 3 months ago, and 5 months ago, and all the other times it comes up."
So let me see if I got this right. Since July no one new has joined GC.com? Also no one has gone geocaching all summer? Wow I guess this geoaching thing is not as popular as I thought.

QUOTE (Wildwoods @ Oct 27 2004, 02:08 PM)
So than displaying the GC.com or Groundspeak logo does not necessarily mean you are affiliated with GC.com? ......
"Anyone can display the logo as long as they follow the requirements. Having a logo doesn't make you part of the company." Quote by Mopar
