  2. Mine I have 6 Night caches and another one waiting to be reinstated, (Harvesting works in local forestry) 1 of 2 Barry’s Midnight Stroll - Night Cache 1 of 3 (4) First or Last? Night Cache 1 of 1 Upper Boat -Taff Trail - Night Cache
  3. Also bare in mind, what you may think is a blatant clue; may be totally mystifying to anyone else!
  4. On the other hand - lots of film pots out there that just ain't waterproof, or altoid type tins (in broken plastic bags) that get wet very easily in this country. so yes quite often it is the fault of thoughtless placers. I'm sure we are all a little guilty of this.
  5. Hadn't seen that one the one I found was http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/geocaching-with-geosphere/id307060076?mt=8 It seems to specifically usable with a Touch - The forum is "Geocaching with your iPhone/iPod Touch" Will look into both.
  6. I cant remember how many times I go somewhere only to find I'm 5 miles from the nearest cache cause its outside the PQ. A couple of questions on this database issue. 1. How are you getting such a big number of caches in database are you downloading lots & lots of PQ's for an area? Surely you cant be doing this for the whole country! 2. Is there an app that can be used on Ipod Touch (no gps/3g) to use the database?
  7. Any body know what Open Street map would cover Boston and CapeCod USA. Should be rout-able. Any one done any good caches in that area?
  8. Yes weekly ones, that have been ok in the past. Will redownload from a new file tonight and see if that helps. Just realised will have to wait for the renewal of the file (My Finds)and then see if it solves the prob.
  9. Dont know if any body else is having my problem but Gsak is not displaying/listing any new finds after 10/3/11. PQ dated 26/03/11. Ive looked at the gpx file and can see a later one 25/03/11 So should be available. I made sure that country county is updated but still nothing. GSAK is the latest and so are all the plugins. Any Ideas?
  10. Mine (static film) has only been logged once, funny enough car was parked in a carpark in the middle of nowhere, while I was off smashing my GPS. The same cacher later that day found one of my caches about 30 mile away.
  11. Every body seems to enjoy these. http://coord.info/GC1ZTAD http://coord.info/GC221YW
  12. Thanks for the link. Seems I'm not the only one looking for this function
  13. I was playing around with New Pocket Query and found that there's no filter for the new favorites. I wonder where I could suggest this, I'm sure I've seen that type of thing before.
  14. Just cut below the lip at the top of the bottle. Put another cap on this end with a generous amount of appropriate adhesive. (This was my own test version. I did not post those other pics. I cut off the yellow band where the other picture left the black band between the two caps.) Glue a neodymium magnet into the end for more fun! Ok, I just ran out to our recycle bin and pulled out a bottle and a couple of caps. Cut the neck off the bottle and put the caps on. Very easy. I understand that the adhesive will be gooped into the bottom of the cap that will be installed on the cut end. One question. What is the "appropriate adhesive"? I would prefer to avoid the trial and error stage of this project. There are several adhesives in my shop, but most are for woodworking and won't be likely candidates. i have tried a glue ment for plastic and the one i am making right now im going to try some epoxy with this type of cache, I cut two bottles right next to the lip then glue the two lips together and apply a little glue to one of the caps this ensures that only one top unscrews I use bathroom sealant. Put a bead around the bottom of inside of one cap, push together (you might need a vice). sweep a finger around inside to make a good seal. Only problem is finding a good paint to stick to the plastic. Try enamel paint, after a little sanding. usually I use camo tape or black electricians tape around the body and bottom cap. HTH
  15. Personal Cache Note dadgum things, I'm working in an area that have at least two caches that I've worked out the cords or clue and added the info to the page's Personal Cache Note. Downloaded the corresponding gpx file but the notes are not included. I suppose the clue is in Personal Is there any way to get this info included in your download? dadgum = D A M N the page was automatically censored COOL!!
  16. +1 on the garmin nuvi range, then set it up as Graculus said. Works good with straight cordinates if you are looking for parking and I've even set 2 caches with my nuvi giving good cords to search for.
  17. Me, and the better half use a North Ridge Thermal Band It in winter and a Trespass light weight for warmer weather very rarely use a scarf any more.
  18. To Buff or not to Buff that is the question WTF is a Buff? BUFF also see buff /neck gaiter
  19. Does Smashing the screen on my Oregon300 yesterday count? I wanted to do The First in Wales and Merlin's Cache 3 (I already had final coordinates) both on The Blorange and was going to make it a circular walk bagging a trig on the way. Anyway lost my balance on some rocks and dropped the GPS didn't hurt myself but there's a lovely spider-web pattern on the oregon screen that's going to cost £110 to repair.
  20. I was searching the interweb for info on some new boots as I’d decided to lose some weight and worn out the pair I had. I found a reference to it on something or other and thought that sounds interesting. Found the first couple using my car GPS and a week later had a eTrex H from Amazon and have enjoyed finding and even not finding caches ever since. Apart from that is, film pots on 4/4 caches, gestamate coordinates, mag nanos on bridges ( just don't have any luck with em) the list could go on... But that's half the fun, oh and had my 3rd ever FTF today I love this pastime, takes us places we'd never go.
  21. In firefox right click, view image - opens a new window and its about 800x600 Google Chrome - right click, open image in new tab. IE, forget about it.
  22. in GSAK export as memory map CSV I find that the names are too long in MM and they obscure the map, so edit the CSV in excel/OpenOffice. 500 caches would be a PIA to edit. I usually do it for working out a route for a ring or in a small area, by cutting down the number of caches in the PQ
