  1. I'm a 3 year officer and my wife is a 2 year clerk for our PD. I'm in patrol, she's in property crimes.
  2. First of all, Haus, please, do us all a favor and cut the cops some slack. While I do agree that there are morons with badges (just as there are morons in ANY profession), most cops are just doing their job. They are paid to ENFORCE the law, not determine the validity of the law, or only enforce the laws that they think are worth enforcing. I fully agree that this particular law is completely asinine, and that the particulars of the law should be revisited. All I am saying is don’t blame the police for the ignorance of our law makers. I would also like to point out that, as one of your previous posts mentioned, the police are hosed any way you look at it: (1) Enforce a stupid law to the LETTER of that law. (and I promise you that the Police think that a lot of these type of laws are just a stupid as we think they are.) OR (2) Enforce a stupid law to the SPIRIT of the law (meaning, no you’re not going to, for example, ticket a woman very obviously taking pictures of her kid). But if they do that they get tagged for “selective enforcement” That is the real issue here: Letter of the Law vs. Spirit of the Law. And the fact is that Laws DO NOT stop crime, they only keep honest people honest. However, in the case of Geocaching in public parks…well, the word PUBLIC should be sufficient.
  3. Does anyone know if there are any midpriced gpsr units that will accept or upload from an SD card .dwg .dxf .gis or shp files?
  4. If I plot waypoints on one of the maps in my Etrex Legend and then want to print them, how do I do that?
  5. We went to Branson, Missouri over Thanksgiving and found an article in the November 28 issue of the Springfield News Leader “Geocachers should know better than to tread on burial grounds” Now I thought this was going to be about not tromping all over a NATIVE AMERICAN burial ground, but it was about a geomuggle’s irritation over two cachers in a cemetery where several of her family members are buried. Now I understand that is woman was upset, but the article came off sounding like all Cachers are just out looking to defile a cemetery. She mentioned that she was apauled to see the Springfield National Cemetery (a virtual cache if I am not mistaken) was on the list of caches in the area. I went to the Springfield National Cemetery and was in tearful awe of the place. I think most historic cemeteries have that effect to those of us who look for these caches
  6. My avatar is the beautiful version of the Magnificent Marvelous Mad Madame Mimm. My family has been calling me Mimms after this chick for years. I am a night shifter, so I really don't like the sunshine, much like Madame Mimm.
  7. In defense of the boys in West Palm Beach. The one suspicios box you don't blow up is the one you should have. The only reason we can laugh about this one is BECAUSE it was just dead birds and a turtle and not an actual bomb.
  8. I have your solution. I am married to a giant, (he's 6'10") so I know about folding into vehicles. You should see him getting out of my Malibu Last year we bought a 2000 Dodge 1500 extenede cab. It has the V8 (the bigger one) but not a hemi. It get's great milage, and has a HUGE gas tank. Our Bassett (Merv 52lbs) and our Wolfhybrid (Ted 175 he's very tubby, but we are working on that) both riding in the bench seat in the back of the cab, or in the front seat in a doggie seatbelt. There is room for six people in the truck, and it has enough power to hall a pontoon boat, and my husband doesn't have to drive with his knees against the dash, to give the people in the back seat enough room. (Even though I am a munchkin at 5'4") The only draw back is the tires. Upwards of $700 for all four tires.
  9. I work at the police department here my city and I am currently working with our narco boys to write an article for the newsletter "How to recognize a meth lab and what to do." I hope it will be done in time for the may issue.
  10. I am proud to live in the city that supports the largest Army base in the free world. And the home of the boys who caught Sadam. Killeen (Ft. Hood) Texas Baby!!!
