  1. Made my quarter century today, and 26th too
  2. There are some great free android geocaching apps - I use them all the time. There are some good non caching apps which come in handy too, like gpstest and gps averaging. Search the market, try them all (even with the paid ones, if you uninstall within 24 hours you get a refund).
  3. Cheers folks. The venture HC certainly has more/better features, but it's almost twice the price of the etrex H, and i've already got maps on the phone. it's looking like the etrex H, unless anyone knows of anything comparible in price. Thanks again, Glyn.
  4. Hiya, despite creating my account here years ago, I only actually started chaching last year, with most of my 15 finds being in the last few months. I was as frustrated as you sound after my first few failed attempts, but stick with it - the tips already mentioned above are great. Remember, it's about the hunt, not the find :-) cheers, Glyn.
  5. Thanks - I don't think the bluetooth ones work very well with my phone. They'll work, but I don't think any apps support them.
  6. Hi folks, I've been geocaching for a while now with a smartphone, and whilst it has all the bells and whistles of brilliant apps, google maps etc, the GPSr just isn't good enough, especially under tree/cloud cover. I'm looking for a better GPSr - I can still use the smartphone for logs/maps/clues etc, I just need more accuracy, as cheaply as I can. Bear in mind that I'm in the UK, so compared to the US you can usually add a good 30% to the price, and it's always cloudy. I'm thinking of an etrex H, but worry that I might be missing other options. Can anyone recommend me a cheap, accurate, no frills GPSr unit? Cheers, Glyn.
  7. Picked up this geocoin last year, and shamefully kept it until yesterday. However, in that time, I managed to get it to one of its goals - being photographed by the statue of liberty (linked as it's a big pic): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7612331/DSCF1128.jpg It's back in the wild now. Cheers, Glyn.
  8. Found my tenth cache yesterday! Not a huge number admittedly, but there's a lot of shoe leather gone into those ten caches, nearly every one was done solely on foot. Cheers, Glyn.
  9. Hi, Went on my first caching trip for ages today, and i witnessed what's probably a crime, but I'm not reporting it. I saw someone pasting up this work of art (linked as it's a pretty big pic): http://db.tt.SPBv50 I think it's awesome EDIT - wow, i thought i'd posted here before, hello everyone
