  1. If you are on Facebook, search for "CFLAG" or "Greater Orlando Geocachers." If you're not on Facebook, I don't blame you, but unfortunately many local groups use only Facebook.
  2. You obviously didn't try it. The problem is that the heading are also links. So press-and-hold also brings up the extended option menu for processing links. The only way to prevent this is, as I said, press-and-hold the down arrow, which also activates the drop-down, but is not part of the link. It's an attempt to provide a default action for browsers that can't handle the mouse-over. Actually, I did try it. It is the way I use to navigate the menus on my smartphone. The trick is to release just as soon as the sub menu appears, before the context menu appears. If the context menu does pop up, you just need to click on the back button and the sub menu will still be opened.
  3. On Android devices, you can simulate the mouse-over by touching and holding the link until the sub menu pops up. Personally, I would love to see a mobile version of the site other than the wap.geocaching.com
  4. The problem with just dragging the PQs to the SD card is that the child way-points will be stored in a different file from the caches. Switching from file to file can take a long time if you have 1000 caches. Cache Register would automatically combine the two files into one. The only other way I can do it is by loading the PQ into a temporary database on GSAK, then exporting it out as one big file.
  5. Try installing GPS Status. I find that having that app on my phone greatly increases the gpsr. Also will add the option of using radar to the geocaching app.
  6. I would like to know when a photo gets uploaded to one of my cache pages without the need to open up the page. The notification could include a link to the photo. This feature could be integrated with the edit notification people have been asking for.
  7. Would love to see this feature in the Android version as well.
  8. Yep. I've so far found 4 that use it within 20 miles of my house. It's fun the first time you see it but after 2 I couldn't be bothered with it - it's possible to open it by using a very narrow blade. Where can you get one of these caches? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002YDQBY/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B008A0MY24&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0KTXJW7CP880FAYNZNXF
  9. If you are planning to visit the east coast, I would suggest A Cool Cache http://coord.info/GC15RQB Not only is the cache rememberable, but it us also right in front of the Spacecoast geocaching store.
  10. Virtuals have been replaced by challenges. Check out here.
  11. People are very unlikely to sue the USDA because the meat tastes bad, or sue Knowschad because his kitchen cabinets are ugly. There is a much higher chance that Groundspeak would get sued by some business owners that are forced to shut down for a day due to a bomb scare. I'm sure Groundspeak has hired lawyers to go over the wording on the site to minimize the possibility that a lawsuit could be successful, and the small differences between words like "publish" and "approve" could make a difference in the outcome.
  12. I can see a code word working, but in a different way than what the OP suggests. You can sign the paper log as normal without any problems, but if you find an unsignable log, full log, missing log, etc... then you can use the code word as an alternative to signing the log. Groundspeak could just add a field to the logging form for the code which the CO can see if it is ever questioned whether or not you actually found the cache. I don't think it should ever be mandatory to use a code, nor should there be an automatic lockout for wrong codes.
  13. A little more info. Which PN? PN-20 is no longer supported. You might need to download the caches to your computer first and use GPSBabel or GSAK to transfer caches. The PN-30 and PN-40 with the original firmware is no longer supported. You can upgrade the firmware from the Delorme site. If you have the firmware updated, you might not be loading the cache to a file on the GPSr. Click the Menu button twice, go to Geocaches, Click the menu button once, select File... New... and type a name. There may be a problem with the interface cable. If it gets a bit corroded, you won't be able to transfer caches to the unit. I find that rubbing the contacts with a pencil eraser works. If all else fails, you can always ask on the Delorme forums. Edit: Just checked your profile. The avatar looks like a PN-40, and the date of your puzzle hide would seem to indicate that you would be using the correct firmware for the unit. I would suggest trying out the pencil eraser trick I described above.
  14. the only people that would share codes are those that don't care about the caches anyway. Those that would expose the contents to a downpour, or put the lid back on incorrectly, or not put the cache back the way they found it. So by providing a code for those people to share, then they will never be at the cache to get the contents wet or get the cache muggled.
  15. From http://www.geocaching.com/about/cache_types.aspx Seems that a letterbox hybrid is suppose to be a letterbox that the owner also crosslisted onto Geocaching.com. So I would think that if it isn't crosslisted, then it isn't a hybrid, just simply a traditional, or a mystery if you use clues.
  16. I kind of like the idea of a code as an alternative way to log. If the log is wet or full, the code gives you a method to prove you found it. I wouldn't like it used as the primary way to log as the code can be too easily shared.
  17. i have seen caches like this where the log is in a baggie attached to the back of the magnet. I guess the baggie is considered the container. Considering that I've found caches that were nothing more than a baggie and a log, I'd suppose this is legit.
  18. Projection is when you take a starting coordinate, and using distance and heading, get to another coordinate. For example if you were to project a point exactly 15,000 feet from the Original Stash at a heading of 45 degrees, you would end up at N 45 19.205, W 122 22.326
  19. If you have a facebook account, check out the CFlag group.
  20. On my Android phone (T-mobile), you get 160 characters of text, but if you tap on the text, a menu pops up. you can choose "view message" to see the message in its entirety without any limit. I guess it was set up this way so that you only receive the most important stuff for those with texting limits. I would be surprised if Verison doesn't do the same thing, especially for a Galaxy S3.
  21. You log a DNF any time you search for a cache and fail to find it. It is common to log several DNFs on a cache, especially a difficult one, before finally finding the cache and getting a smiley. A DNF does not indicate a failure, it is just simply a record of your visit, and also indicates a potential problem to the cache owner - if several cachers log a DNF, could mean the cache might be missing.
  22. You could also ask the CO of the multi to move a stage or give you a hint as to where you can move your cache.
  23. There are other Geocaching apps for the iphone. Might want to try them out. http://www.geocaching.com/live/partners/ GCBuddy has many functions that the official app does not, might be good if you do a lot of puzzles or multis. Geo Bucket is free, might be enough for you. There are others which don't use the api and therefore not listed on the geocaching page, search the App store.
  24. I believe you could make it a challenge cache where you require someone to attend a number of CITO events. It is suggested in the challenge cache guidelines that you have completed the challenge yourself, so go attend 10 CITO events and create a 10 CITO challenge cache.
  25. Geocache calculator will do projections, as well as many other things. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eisbehr.gcc&hl=en
